I wouldn't be too worried about that. Most games that include Bestiality do so as a side feature anyways... its not a theme like incest. Yeah, GGGB is probably one of the best out there. I'm really fond of I love Daddy too. At first it seems like a cliche daddy daughter story, but as you explore all the different branches it is actually one of the coolest games I've played. If I hadn't been sifting through the shit I never would have found it.
Ofc it won't kill it. Unless they will really want to which I doubt. But even tho BB isn't exactly good now it's still the most famous incest game on patreon. No real dev will make a game with it if he wants to have stable income so only small devs will remain. That's just my prediction but I find it very likely to happen.
What constitutes a real dev? I mean, my thoughts go straight to someone like Ptolemy, who has made one quality game already and is working on a second that I already like more. In both of them he's got incest content.
I used wrong words I guess. By real devs I meant professionals who can create games of higher quality and polished technical aspects. That's rare as hell but sooner or later such dev would appear - just like DS when he started. More ambitious devs just can't really use incest now if they wish to earn some decent cash. I have my fair share of respect for Ptolemy and many other devs but scale and lack of originality (in technical and plot aspects) of most games isn't on the same level as those of potential biggest devs. And I mean potential biggest devs. Among biggest devs we have now only BB and SS didn't depend on release time they had. BB was something fresh with its early gameplay and SS is original as it is.
For some of the popular games it was a matter of timing. BB and DoD started early with good renders. If BB was released now or a little bit ago it would not be racking in anywhere near the cash it does.
But that's just it... DS never did get all that technical. His render quality is higher than some of the smaller less skilled projects, but it's by no means a masterclass. He doesn't even have animations or quality writing. With the money his project was making he could have done something truly amazing. Instead he was making a basic gotta fuck'em'all with no substance beyond Eric, which people hated so much that he even made getting rid of him a simple task.
I'm not saying that BB is a great game or even good game. In my opinion it's one of the worst games we have here. But it's mechanic was fresh and something new. He had insane potential in first couple of versions. Skills, open structure, different choices, time-frames, living house with real opponent. That was something new. We have a lot of games now who tried to copy his style but no one achieved that (Au Pair Innocence, School, Love, Cousins). I agree that IR is a better game now. It's just solid. But it's really simple game with same VN mechanic we have in most games. Amongst big 4 (DMD,DoD,BB and SS), DMD and DoD would struggle to reach 3K if they were released today as they're based only on a timing. BB would be popular even now because it become terrible later in game and early game is still fine and original. SS is original as hell so it would still achieve success. I don't wanna argue about superiority of BB cuz it's not superior. What I meant previous was that well done originality is a key, and ambitious developers won't risk being suspended cuz ambition requires higher funds.
