its the standard for software releases 1.0 is the RELEASE version usually the way people denote them is anything under 0.5 IE 0.09 or 0.49 are Alpha phase at 0.5 it becomes the Beta phase some companies will only call BETA at 0.8 and above but the majority like to use 0.5 for commonality.Where's the rule where it says the first release version number must be 0.0.1 ?
There is none, because these numbers don't mean shit, except for the fact that subsequent releases will have higher numbers.
You can make a game and brand it v3.1415 if you want, and the next release can be 3.14159
You must be registered to see the links
I also have an issue with naming a release V1 when it's not "complete". A working product should be 0.[something] and only be moved to v1.0 when the product is "complete". It may not be the final release/iteration but it denotes that it's the "full" product. It's common practice within the software community.its the standard for software releases 1.0 is the RELEASE version usually the way people denote them is anything under 0.5 IE 0.09 or 0.49 are Alpha phase at 0.5 it becomes the Beta phase some companies will only call BETA at 0.8 and above but the majority like to use 0.5 for commonality.
