If all you had were low level characters then it may not matter much who you assign, but each job specifies the stats that impact the results of that job. A better qualified lab assistant will result in cheaper operations with lower recovery times. A better chef will result in spending less food to feed each person every day.Oh I'll use the laboratory for that, just wondering so far I've been playing the game for an hour. Does it matter if I put random people in positions like the lab or chef, etc? Also so far based on my experience I think Orcs and Elfs are the best in combat party maybe if you get lucky and get a wolf guy also helps. Or are these stats just random and there's no good race?
Orcs and Elves are okay for combat, but I would consider them to be low tier due to the low total stats and lack of a combat racial bonus. Beastkin Wolves are generally considered high tier for physical combat and exploration. Halfkin Wolves are a little below Beastkin, though it is good as the player race. The max stats are determined by the race for everyone except the player and some races are better for some tasks than others, though these differences may not matter much, especially if you cheat for gold and food.
