Update time! (cross posted from my )

Early update this weekend since it was a rather busy week. As you know I built and released v 0.1.1 for Mac and Linux. I’ve also added some quality of life improvements like windowed mode for all builds and gesture support for the Android version. With no more major bugs reported I’m considering version 0.1 done.

So I’m now moving on to working on version 0.2.0! I’m currently writing the next date for Jess (Oh look, I can use the girls names in updates now). It’s early in the process but the way it’s going I think you’ll really like this one. The background artists have already been given the details and have started working on art for the date as well.

Looking at the current work plan, I think I’ll be able to add 1 new date for each girl and maybe one more surprise into version 0.2.0 with a projected release date of March 1st. As usual, I will keep you updated as development progresses if that date needs to be changed.

Have a great new year!

These girls are quite beautiful; Jess is simply gorgeous and so nice! The kind of girl I'd like to meet in real life.
Kat took me aback with her personality and Eve is quite the long game one.

Hope this will get a lot of updates!

Forgot to add to my last post that I found the dialogue interactions a bit repetitive. If you choose 'flirt', for example, every time the same lines will be played. I'd say at least 3-4 different dialogue scripts for those options each would enrich the experience, as also for the dates.

That is even more relevant after you level up Conversation and Confidence, but the MC and the girls would say exactly the same stuff and will act just like when he had lower levels on those stats.

That is in the long term plan. Much of the repeating elements in the game are currently in their most basic functional form (e.g. club interactions, stat trainers, money gathering). My intention is to expand those as development continues, though adding more basic content like dates and city stories is the higher priority right now.
Thanks for the feedback :)

Update time!

So ah… this has been a bit of a crazy week hasn’t it? Like most people on the planet, my productivity wasn’t 100% this week for obvious reasons. I did manage to write up the skeleton for both the Jess and Eve dates. As well as handle some typos that were reported this week (thanks Gwaxer!)

On the art side Wyne has completed this lovely background image which will work nicely with one of the girls dates. The next step is for Phoenix to add some character sprites over it and for me to complete all the required dialogues and implement the whole thing. (so, yeah, a lot still on the todo list).

FN(1).png

Since I needed something to perk up my mood a bit I took some time away from writing tasks to play around with the idea of adding subtle animations to the games backgrounds using shaders. I like to keep these very minimal to avoid distracting from the more important elements on the screen. I think this one turned out rather well.

That’s it for this week. Next version of Body Language is currently scheduled for the first week of March. I’ll update on this as development continues. Thanks for your continued support.

Have a great week!

Update time!

This week was thankfully uneventful. Writing on the various dates is progressing on schedule, with Jess’s second date already about half way done. I expect to get it fully written and into the game by next weekend. Phoenix should be done with the art for this date by next weekend as well.

I also took on some long standing tech tasks this week. I’ve figured out a quicker way to apply run permissions on my Mac and Linux builds, which will make multi platform releases less of a hassle. I’ve also finally managed to get the code for Bell Master to compile on my new PC, which means I can start to address some of the minor bugs that have been reported on it in the last couple of months.

That’s it, short update when everything is on track and going according to plan :) V 0.2 Release is still expected on the first week of March.

Have a great week!

Update time!

It’s been a somewhat busy week for me, but progress on the game is still going strong. I’ve completed the writing on Jess’s next date. I’m still waiting on a few pieces of art for it so instead of going right into implementation, I’m instead focused on writing Eve’s next date instead.

Phoenix is still working on Jess’s date images. The sketches so far are looking rather hot, I can’t wait to see the finished version. Once I get a bit more writing done on Eve’s date, I’ll get the background art team started on that one as well, to keep the pipeline going.

In tech news I’ve spent a few hours looking for solutions to a bug in Bell Master that causes it to fail to start when it’s installed in a very deep folder (which, it seems, is a favored tack for obscuring porn game folders). I don’t have a solution for it yet, but I’m narrowing it down. I’ll keep at it, though the focus for my very limited time remains on Body Language.

That’s it for this week. I’m keeping the projected release date for the first week of March, but looking at the task backlog, I’m not super confident about it right now, I’ll update it and you as development progresses.

Have a great week!

Update time!

A bit of a slow week as I’ve been a little under the weather. Jess’s second date is finally in the game. It’s still missing a few final art assets, which should be ready by next week. Since I don’t have much progress to report this week, here’s a sneak preview :)

With that out of the way I’m now free to work on Eve’s second date. The background art team is already working on assets for it and I’ve made some progress on the writing side. It’s still early but looking at it now, I think it’ll be a fun one.

The plan for next week is to continue the writing work for Eve’s date, while hopefully finding some extra time to address minor issues that have been reported recently on both Body Language and Bell Master. The expected release date for Body Language v 0.2.0 is still the first week of March.

Have a great week!

Looks really good, and after playing Bell Master I'm eager to see where this goes. I'll wait until the next update so it's a little more fleshed out to actually try it, but I wanted to bump the thread because this seems like a quality dev.

Update time!

Another rather hectic week here in mipsvile. I got the first dose of the vaccine this week, made a joke about it on twitter, got banned for 24 hours over that, and also managed to work on Body Language a bit :p

Writing on Eve’s second date is still progressing, I have a good sense of where the scene is going, and hopefully I’ll be done with it by next weekend. I also spent a bit of time this coding up a new minigame for an upcoming exploration event. Which currently looks like this (work in progress, might change as development continues).

You don't have permission to view the spoiler content. Log in or register now.

I’ve also addressed a small bug reported with the courage gathering minigame, so it no longer starts skipping over text the moment you win. Both minigames now also respect the “auto win minigames” option available in the settings (both for accessibility and for those that just don’t like minigames).

Now the bad news. Looking at the current art pipeline makes me suspect I’ll have to push back the release date. I’ll try to keep the delay as minimal as possible. And I’ll use the time to get ahead on writing tasks at least. This is an unfortunately expected down side of working with artists on commission, schedules are harder to foresee. I will keep you updates with the new expected release date once I have a better estimation. Thank you for your support and your patience.

Have a great week!

Update time!

A relatively easy-going week, I completed well over half the writing needed for Eves second date. And I’m expecting to finish writing and implementing that date by next weekend. I’ve also received Jess’s second date sexy reward image from Phoenix and put it into the game and reward gallery.

I’ve mentioned a delay in my last update, so let me give you a bit more details about that. As you may know, all my artists work on commission. This means that I’m one client among many and am somewhat subject to the artists schedules and availability. Usually this isn’t an issue and works well for both parties. But as it turns out, there’s a long national holiday where Phoenix is from that I wasn’t aware of. This means over a weeks’ worth of unexpected wait in the art pipeline, which of course impacts the rest of the development cycle.

I’m going to do what I can to minimize the effect of this hiccup. But to be on the safe side, I’m currently delaying the release of v 0.2.0 by two weeks. Which puts it around the 14th of March for the limited bughunt release and the 21st for the public release. These dates might still change as the situation is still a bit flexible, but as usual I will keep you all updated as it goes.

That was a lot, so here’s a gif of a shader based dynamic motion blur effect I worked on in a spare moment during the week to enhance the upcoming minigame a little.

Update time!

Short update this week as it’s another week with lots of "invisible" writing tasks. I’m a bit behind with Eve’s second date. It’s written, and it's a fun one. But It still needs some touch ups and edits and of course, implementation into the game. On the other hand, I’ve already gotten a good start writing Kat’s second date, so in terms of task completion, it all balances out all right.

The art team is done with their national holiday and are up and running again. Phoenix is working on several variants of an image for the new minigame while Wyne is working on backgrounds for the Kat date. Sketches so far are looking promising. But there’s much work still ahead of us.

I’m keeping a close eye on the schedules as both myself and the artists are a bit behind. I’ll let you know if I need to either push back the release date or possibly hold back one of the girls dates a little until all the art for it is ready. But for now, I’m still aiming for a public release around the 20th of March.

Have a great week!

Update time!

Another one of them good news bad news weeks. On the good news side, Eve’s second date is practically done and implemented into the game. The bad news is that “practically” there means implemented with placeholder art cause the art delay is still a thing. With two weeks of dev left before this versions QA deadline, it looks like I may have to hold back one or more of the girls dates due to missing art. I don’t want to delay the version even more at this point. I’ll of course keep you all up to date on the situation as it develops.

On the writing side I’m moving forward with Kats second date. I have it fully mapped out and writing is moving forward at a good pace. I’m hoping to get the writing portion of her date done by next weekend. Wyne has already delivered the background for her date as well. So it’s mostly on myself and Phoenix to deliver the rest.

On the tech side, I managed to extend the way the game handles sound and sound effects which allowed me to rather easily add some dynamic sound effects to the new minigame. It’s nothing too fancy, but (as is the case a lot of the time with audio) it’s something that would have felt missing if it wasn’t there.

That’s it for this week, hopefully next weeks update will be more good news than bad. For now, expected public release date remains around the 20th.

Have a great week!
