I don't think giving a stranger the option to constantly connect your system to their servers is a wise choice from a basic online safety point of view. We are not talking about some trusted tech company you sign a legal user contract with, but a random individual on a porn forum/discord channel who swears he's only using that connection to update your product (while saying he may use it to block free users as well, which isn't exactly reassuring for paying customers). It can be a great translation software and I don't have a fucking clue about plagiarism, but these details seem problematic to me unless, of course, Zapo offers a legal 'license' agreement when you purchase his software that covers this, with his legal contact info and so.

Not that I use these programs anyway, but I'd advise people against encouraging/supporting those practices. They aren't necessary to offer an automatic translation.

And no, I'm not exactly a friend of Paloslios and he obviously went over the top with his behavior on this thread, as usual. His software seems to work more than fine, though, as many translators are using them. I can only wish Zapo a similar success and also hope he could reconsider the need for that connection. Maybe make it optional? If someone doesn't want to update their software after having paid for it, it should be their prerrogative.

Peace

Well, your words have their truths, but let's face it, how many people here, who I believe are very old, played online games on pirated servers because of the ease of leveling, and of getting their items on the pirated server that they couldn't reach easily. on the official one, causing you to run away from the official server of a game because it has low xp and takes light years to be able to get good items like from a pirated server. I say this based on some games, and here I will mention some, no, maybe you don't know them. , and others will remember, such as MuOnline, Lineage, Perfect Word, Cabal and several other pirate server games that most here played... and you know where I'm going with this is that everyone had the same system that zapo used in his tool, a server that checked each client before entering the server to see if the client was using the updated game for his server, if they didn't have it, he would ask to update and no one questioned this because it is a check of the client and not system data

It's great to see someone who is truly knowledgeable after all this discussion. Your explanation makes a lot of sense. However, the tool is still evolving and while it may be very good, there is always room for improvement. I'm sure that any constructive criticism will be taken into account.
Thanks. You, on the other hand, only added more controversy to the thread with your obvious lies about Paloslios software, which it seems you never even tried. If your goal was to support Zapo's software I'd say you didn't do a good job. But hey, since you didn't know him before acquiring his program, you shouldn't feel much bad

I'm pretty sure all of those platforms had their legal contact info and terms of use written somewhere on their sites, even if well hidden. This is a serious thing Zapo is doing, he's charging money and when I pay I expect to have some rights as a user. This is for his own good, if he really means well.

I appreciate your feedback, but I want to clarify that I didn't lie. I did test both tools, but during our discussion, their strategy was to shift the focus onto me. However, I didn't allow that to happen.

Your concerns are legitimate, but I intend to continue with Zenpy's auto update system, at least in the pro version where I constantly make updates fixing bugs and adding features.

I confess that I didn't understand all this fuss about the program being online, because a program that is not open source in itself is not at all reliable, there is no guarantee that it won't have a sleeping code or a code that only activates on a certain date. that could steal your data.
A program going online to update itself or check the license is not a problem.

A program that goes online every time to download and execute another program is a " " and a constant security risk.

And if the downloaded program is auto-deleted after closing and has obfuscated it's code with enigma, should be considered malware, even if it is "legit"(?)...*

*...well, if it does nothing suspicious or does not intend to do anything suspicious in the future, it would/should not go to all that trouble, to hide and eliminate it's code afterwards, every time it executes itself...
This is how " " work.

As the say: "If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it probably is a duck".

Well, the only connection that zenpy has is just to make its updates so that we don't need to download countless exes for each update (because since the testing period, zapo worked on the program daily and every night there was a new att , and over time, it would become unmanageable to have 29398899229 versions of Zenpy), and as far as I know, it is not the only program that performs automatic updates. Furthermore, on the VirusTotal website, the only alerts that are shown are related to the obfuscator, and well, the website is public for anyone who wants to test it too.

ps: just to give you an idea, both Zapo programs only have 2 ALERTS, while Palos' gift for Brazilians at F95BR has 20 VIRUS ALERTS!!!!!!

For not to mention that I'm being biased, I'm also going to test some other programs that I used or still use for everything, just to demonstrate that I'm not the one saying that something is suspicious or not:

Starting with the most famous program here, Unren:

The phrase Does "If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it probably is a duck" apply to this too?
If it uses the same method to execute, then of course it does apply to his too.
I don't care about neither of your programs.
I just mentioned that your update/upgrade practice, if it is as I described (.... I am not sure if it is really the case, since no-one gave a me response...) is a constant security risk.

The only reason a program would do something like that, is evasion of AVs detections.

so it only applies to a similar type of malware? interesting is reasoning

This is your response?
So you intentionally, choose a "dropper" procedure to execute and you have the audacity to say to people trust me the software is clean?

All I saw in this thread is you and 5-6 people (that hardly ever posted in any threads before) promoting constantly and like crazy a "legit"? program and another developer that accuses you of stealing his code.

Nothing more and nothing else.

I already answered this a long time ago, I'm not going to change Zenpy's online system, and there's no way I can gain someone's trust just with words and explaining what the code would actually be like without showing it. I know this discussion is useless, you will say that it is malware and I will say that it is not and it will stay that way until the end of time.

The developer who made the accusations already has a history of creating this kind of situation. However, if you don't trust the program, just don't use it. I bought the full version and I don't regret it. It's definitely the best tool I've ever tested for Ren'py games. So again, if you don't trust it, fine, just don't use it.

What online system?
Online means that the code is loaded inside the program itself without touching the users disk.
I'm wondering if you even know how to code or if you are just a "script kid"?
For you information you can achieve exactly what you want without having to use such methods.
