I have to said that this was a very interesting topic to talk about, mainly because I always wanted to know why you guys like this fetish, just like me. So... I've read every of your answers. Thanks for sharing, it gave me the strenght to talk about this for the first time.

For years I've been exploring why/what do I like certain types of incest relationships in all the media (literature, games, movies) and so far I came to these conclusions:
Because is taboo. Some of you guys explained it very well, the idea of doing something that is forbidden in society.
But why? I will try to explain it with an example of the mom/son relationship in games.
Yeah, the son protagonist knows he can't bang her mom (or having feelings for her, in case you're the romantic type of guy) because society will severely punish him for just having the idea of it. He knows it's wrong, her mom knows it's wrong. But he can TRY... and when he tries, it destroys all the system the family built with hardwork. Her mother now has to accept the idea of her son trying to have sex with her (or having a romantic date with him). It gives tension to the player, it gives drama to all the situation. The first move it's always to deny the idea, but... in the end, the mother will have to do something about it... and here is where all the hot ideas (for me) usually come: talk about it in a mature way, have an agreement in order to do some stuff to relieve the urges, talk to another person about these problems, try to hear what her son offers, ask herself what does she want in her life, accepting to have an affair, etc. All of these choices become more complex if they have to think how to deal with the other family members and friends. They have to build an entire different system in order to continue living with this new experiences. That's enjoyable for me.
Building up something and have a reward for it is great and the reward in incest is to break the boundary. I think that really improves the sex scene with the *family member of your choice* and it usually feels like the closure of a stage of hard work.
Sadly, not all the games I have played fulfill this requirement. I remember playing an old hentai game where you started to bang all your family members without building anything, it was pretty boring. I think that's why I like Dating My Daughter so much. It feels real. Ok, some things are not quite real there, but that daughter really feels hard to convince and I like that. It's not easy to corrupt/persuade somebody that close to you in real life.
When you build up something you create a bond between the two characters. You create an story of your choice and face the consequences of it. When everything happens for you for free without making any effort it can be fun at first but... I think you could get bored or start to face an existencial crisis. I remember playing Incest Adventure (ICCreations) and having a lot of fun because I had to face a lot of enemies and resolve some problems in order to get the approval of my mom (I also like RPGs and it had some difficulty so it was also entertaining in that way). I hope you get the main picture of this, i like consuming my time (doing something fun or making slighty difficult choices) in order to have a reward. If they tease me a lot in the process then I'll have more motivation to do it.
Good incest stories do rely on the CREATIVITY to make a good enviroment and to show the fucked up and mixed feelings of the characters. Something well-written and credibly is practically everything you'll want. The best things are the simple things, if something is good it doesn't even need an image attached to it.
By the way, I'm not an english native speaker. I hope you're eyes are not suffering.
This last statement one could be quite polemic and I know some of us need to watch how hot is the mom (or the family member of your choice) in order to enjoy something. I'm not saying I don't like it (thank god Daz3d and those animated sex scenes). The best taboo game I've ever played in my whole life was full text. It was called Sex and Sex Again (by IcarusDragon) and it was uploaded in TWINE. There has been no news from the creator so I think it was cancelled. Yeah, if you try it you can expect pharagraphs and pharagraphs but he had a really complex variety of choices in order to bang the characters, especially the mom. It gave you all the background of every family member. The mother was reluctant and you had to choice what to do in order to bang her. The most enjoyable thing of it was that the author had it very clear with moral choices: moral is a social construct, you don't have to be punished for EVERY bad choice, we are not perfect and the other family members also struggle to fit in society, if you didn't play well your cards it was not instantly game over, he let you watch what would happen and how the story developed based on the reactions of the other characters towards you (just like real life). If you develop a relationship with the mom being nice and not agressive you'll obviously have a reward and it's really-really hard to get. You could also try something sooner with her and also enjoy a TOTAL different story with it. It was nothing about winning or losing points, he created an infinity quantity of branches despite you being good/bad and it was well-written. He had a lot of creativity.
Haha, I got a little enthusiastic about that game, I know. It's not perfect but it's the best I've ever had.
