I say why thinking too much about this... It's just a game.... If you like, ok. If you don't, ok too. Just don't mix games with reality... That's the problem.... Some people don't work too well with this.... Myself... I don't think too much about it... If it's interesting... why not? Just respect the opnions and space.... And most of time I don't like when the protagonist is a asshole, independent of incest or not. And I don't take this into my reality. Games are games, real world is real world. And I don't think most of the games are about that... It's very frequent, true, but not for the most part.

I was introduced to "sexual situations" by my older sister and one of her friends when I was 7-8 years old. I guess they thought it was funny for me and the friends younger sister to "play doctor" without knowing about the birds & bees. With the whole corruption theme, maybe, because it's the greater taboo and a difficult form of corruption. A kind of forbidden fruit so to say. For developer's and writers I also think it's a good way to provide a story. After all: "Man meets woman at the bar and fucks her" is not really a story worth telling. "Boss uses his power to make female employees his sex slaves" is just creepy but not a fetish. "Son learns about mom's dark secret and blackmails her into becoming his sex slave" is a story that raises much more curiosity.
I find some of these games quite enjoyable, but only as long as they don't contain any too young looking characters. In any case I prefer lesbian games or games that have at least some lesbian content.

It's a paraphilia. It's something your sexually gets hooked onto. You can ween yourself off these links but I don't see the point. It hasn't negatively impacted my life, really.

I think that sometimes, incest games are a stand-in for recreating sexual desires, experiences, and/or memories from an adolescent standpoint. I don't mean "loli" or "child" stuff, and I don't mean adolescent in an "immature" lame way--I mean literally adolescent sexual memories and experiences. Just good old 13-16 year old teenage exploration stuff. I like playing incest games and enjoy good incest erotica not because I harbor fantasies of my sister (don't have one) or my mom (that's honestly pretty gross to me, even if I don't mind in games/stories). In a good incest game/story, there are characters who either like sex but need a lot of convincing to take sexual steps because of the relationship (b/s, f/d, m/s etc), or are new to sex but are exploring their sexuality in a "safe" place with someone they love and trust because of the relationship. For me, these games plug into teenage desires and experiences. I never had the fortune (or misfortune?) of hooking up with a promiscuous girl as a teenager, but well before I was 18 I was with a few girls who had their "boundaries" they expected me to respect, but there was always an element of seduction (corruption?) at play to break down those boundaries.
Since it's, err, challenging, to create sex content depicting 14-16 year-old teenagers exploring sex together, moving past boundaries, seducing and/or corrupting until they're "going all the way" (which I think is a common teenage experience), incest games tap into those desires/memories in a more realistic way then depicting two 18-year olds who, for some reason, have placed boundaries on how far they'll explore. This might be even more true for people growing up in religious or otherwise "strict" households where sex itself was taboo, where any physical interaction with the opposite sex was taboo even if it was normal by most standards.

When I sit back and think about what makes a lot of folks attracted to the idea of it in general, is that things that would normally be considered forbidden and just out right wrong in real life, for what ever reasons become a kinky turn on in fantasy play... In the real world, kinky role play just increases sexual energy for some folks... So the kinky fantasy of family sex in written fiction and/or game fiction, more or less, increases the sexual energy, because it would normally be considered forbidden... That's how you get fetish's in the first place...
Now, if we're wondering why so many current erotic/adult visual novels/games seem to be gravitating towards such a heavy onslaught of Family Sex theme... I think it is more about the desire for attention and/or the desire for money... A lot of the bigger, more popular erotic titles in recent years have included that theme, and made/make a ton of money as well as attention for the author/s... So we then have a sort of Family Sex gold rush, where folks are coming out of the wood works in an attempt to maybe cash in on that same attention and/or money... And that is where it becomes this self perpetuating flavor of the month/year...
For me personally, I tend to find it very uncreative and disheartening, to see so many new visual novel/games using not only the same theme of Family Sex, but in a lot of cases the same family dynamics as well... The male protagonist, with a younger sister that adores him, the older sister who's mean towards him, the mother who feels unwanted and undesired, and the father who either died or left the family... Of course there have been other dynamics, but the one I just mentioned, seems to be the base upon which most family sex themed VN/games are built...
When I read/play a visual novel/game with the family sex stuff, I never go into it with the mind set of wishing I could have sex with family... I sort of put it out of my mind that they are all related in the first place, and just play it out as the protagonist either wanting to form sexual relationships, fall in love, form a romantic relationship, fantasy play, etc... I've personally never had a family member I've ever felt any sort of sexual attraction to, and I've never had any powerful event in my life that may have altered my perspective about family life... So that has never influenced why I might play a visual novel/game with family sex in it... And I personally wish fewer games went with that theme, because it shows such a lack of originality... I think it's been done to death... Will I still play/read them? Sure, if that is all that is available, and it's a creative and fun tale... I just have a different mind set when I start playing them, then some folks so...
Because most of the good porn games are incest and let's face it, incest game is and will always be one of the most popular type of game out there ( and this is in no way related to the fact that 90% of the most played games here have incest in them).

Not sure if that is over all true, or just feels true because of how many author's are making games with that theme, or it is just an assumption based on how many new games have that theme... Because right now, the market is over saturated with that theme, which artificially inflates the view that it's more popular amongst players/readers... Just because the dev's find it appealing, and they keep making tons of them with that theme, doesn't necessarily mean 1:1 that the public desires it with that same fervor... When the list to choose from is primarily A, doesn't mean a majority prefer A, over B and/or C...
Only way to really know if it is most popular amongst the vast majority of Readers/Players, is to get All spectrum of players/readers to speak up, which is not gonna happen any time soon... We here in these forums, are technically in the minority... We are just a minute spec of the over all player/reader base, as a high majority of readers/players of these games never speak up, or give their views, they just play/read and go about their lives...
