can anyone help me where to get the items for the quest "The initiation"?
If this is a quest where you need to collect porn items for the prince, then you need to talk to a merchant in the city where the prince is (I forget the name of the city, sorry), and the other items you can buy in brothels and in the abbey store

Why has there not been an update since 2022-10-19? The steam and website link doesn't work. The developer switch101010's last post on the forums was on May 29, 2019. I think this game is abandoned.

This game has seen roughly one update per year since 2019, and the last one was in October. The dev has a habit of deciding to rebuild the game, going almost entirely radio silent, and coming out of that silence a year later with a new update and then a bugfix build or three.

I'm not saying the game isn't abandoned, just that if you judge by history, we've still got another three or so months to go before things start being slower than usual. As for the website and this forum, they abandoned both of those when they launched on Steam back in 2020 or so.

The dev was last active, that I've noticed, about 10 days ago on Discord.. at least in posting on there. They are pretty adamant that they are continuing work, though none is available to be seen in the form of screenshots or what have you. At least on that platform. It may be different on the Patreon.

At roughly $800 a month, I'd imagine that game development isn't exactly their main concern. I've no idea if the dev is even capable of filling the roles they were paying people for.

From what I recall, it was a thing where once you got to a certain point on the Patreon (15 or so dollars) you got a copy of the game. Now, I could completely be thinking of a different one. Either way, looking at the sales estimates on SteamDB.. if the majority of their sales are US or equivalent economy purchases they've made between..267,000 USD and 1,282,500 USD.. probably trending towards the lower end but who knows.

If the amount sold is in those price ranges it's entirely possible that everything is still on track. Too little info.. and even if things are still fine I fear the lack of insight from the dev on the state of development will mitigate any possible staying power of the game in the minds of others.. which may slow down any new money being brought in past that 800/month.

I'm not sure how you arrived at 1.2 million USD, but development and interest in the game has been dying more , with the highest Patreon earnings at roughly 3.5k/mo (for major releases). According to their Patreon "about" section, "Venture Seas is currently a solo development, with commissioned workers to ease my workload." I wouldn't even know what "on track" would look like, considering the game's been on a decline since 2021 and hasn't recovered since. The updates clearly aren't pulling people back in.

Ngl, the Akna vore thing kinda killed any interest I had in the game. When a developer pulls a stunt like that you kinda know everything is on the table and it becomes hard to get attached to any character which really pulls you out of the story. The dev said they're releasing mod support so fans can mod the scene out, but I feel like that's a lazy solution brought on by a bad creative decision.

I feel like it's a relatively easy fix too, just have a perfect chain of dialogue options that can save the character. Most players will encounter the vore their first play through, understand the stakes, reload the game, and tread cautiously knowing what will happen - with those that simply don't care or are into vore not bothering.

1.2 million is found exactly as I stated. Go to steamdb, take the range of estimated sales and simply multiply. Also as I stated that's the absolute high end of sales. SteamDB used to have more access to sale tracking through the Steam API in the past, but now it's a fairly simple range calculation they go by. I also plainly stated that the numbers were based off the US sales price. Don't ignore the fact that I clearly said I am assuming the earnings through Steam were more towards the low end, not the 1.2 million possible cap.

Be realistic, sure, and critical. The game has lost metaphorical steam in support from Patreon and other communities due to the lack of updates. But it does appear there is probably still work going forward at this time. I'd say don't put your money into it, like any other thing you aren't willing to possibly lose money on. Also realize for a single developer I'd probably bet on a 2-4 year development time even when things go perfectly, and with the issues of the past several years in the world I'd not doubt you can easily add another 2-4 years to the schedule. That sort of stuff may kill the project fully eventually, but it doesn't appear to have yet gone that far. Most devs would ghost their discord community too if they were gonna cut and run.

Edit: Here is the SteamDB link for estimated sales.

how is this game not classified as abandoned or on hold
abandoned means that there hasnt been any communication from the developer for 3 months. Alternatively if the developer communicates but doesnt release an Update in 1 or 2 years (i am not sure if it was 1 or 2 years) then the game gets the abandoned Status. I am not sure when it was the last time but the developer communicates on discord

Last update release was 10/19/2022, about than 9 months ago. I don't really follow the discord for the game, but in a quick search it does appear that the developer said they got pretty sick for several weeks at some point after that update was released. I'm not gonna say if that is true or not, no one would be able to say for sure.

Another person has noted that this dev seems to drop an update about once a year, so who knows... I could definitely see putting an Asterisk of sorts on this one. Like most games on here it seems like a coin flip on if it finishes or not.
