I think the explanation in this particular case is far more complicated than that.this happen a lot when devs never heard the advice of theyr own supporters,ensive:

i mean the reason of not gaining and losing many of the support from the start was forced fetishes , people never complain as long as the content of those fetishes are optional, when a dev force them on the people they will be pissed. ( i know like 5 guys who supported this guy a lot of money until he forcéd that content with the excuse it was for story reasons....there is always other ways to move the story forward and not forcing any type of content that can alienate your patreons supporters...)
the reason here is simply because dev was too upset and troubles with another dev, wich finally conclude that its better to work together than fight for pseudo assets used in both with or without authorisation blablabla.
sooo unavoidable it end in 2 way :
1 - fight continu and one of the dev lost ( mostly this one, because he was way more harsh than the other one, wich is a vertu to be calm and patient)
2- fight end , and thats what happen here, and to avoid conflict, both are now together.
also that dev doesnt lost patrons that much, most of them prefer give him money on his own patreon instead of giving it to the other dev that can again lead into some conflict about splitting money.

first of all im refering to the start of his project, that other dev as you call him did start a lot of time after skull game, and he did have much more patreons before he started with the forced ntr and other things that turn off patreons, like having also a waste of space for a mc

I'm usually fine even with the heaviest ntr content, but I missed the tag on this and the cammie scene rustled my jimmies through sheer surprise. Got me lmao.

I tried man. I tried.
Right after Skull when dark with me I decided to start making my own game.
I took the storyline the characters and everything that I pitched to him and posted here.
And I created the skeleton of a game. I started coding everything and threw in so many secret easter eggs and lore specific scenes. I wanted to create a game worthy of KOTOR. But with somewhat less of the same budget.
But no one wants to look at bones.
So instead of creating a text game I tried to look for someone willing and talented enough to work on the art.
However since I couldn't find anyone interested in creating a new Star Wars game with me.
I shuttered the project.
I still open it from time to time to tinker with it.
But until someone expresses interest in creating a real Star Wars story. That truly does justice to the franchise after the bantha fodder that was the Last Jedi.
I will be waiting.
If you see anyone like that. Send them my way. Cause we, the fan base of Star Wars, deserve much better than the shit we have been sold.

maybe because re-opening this game while the other one get stabbed multiples time will re-open too the fight between both about the "stealing" stuff and blablablabla...
imho, skullyadder made a choice, now he cant go back, or he will face some bad consequences from both side: the side who supported that game, and the side of supporter of the other game+dev.
agreed. i have never understood why he did it. frist "darth smut ripped me off" and then "his project is much cooler than my project. i will join him". but if he really joined him why didnt he produce some more renderings for him?? weird. maye darth smut just took over his patreon
