See, this is why context is important. If you piss and moan about something, at least explain a bit or people will just take your tiny one-phrase blurb at face value and misconstrue your point.
Haven't played a Winged Cloud game in forever myself, so no idea if the complaining is fully warranted (this is the internet after all, where pointless griping is the norm). Especially suspicious is that the complaints seem to be about having a female protag in a game by a company that's known for having become more yuri-focused over time.

This sounded kind of interesting...but then I saw it was published by winged cloud.

It's 2 things that bother me about the complainers for female protags and that is there are nearly double the amount of male protag games on this site and WC is known for yuri stuff and has been for a while.
It just makes those complaining look like idiots. They have more choices out there, just find something else. It's hardly challenging.
I don't mind WC's stuff to switch off to but they are all very similar. If he put more effort in he'd probably be a lot bigger than he is now but he just seems to fire out easy money makers.

The only games WC put any effort into were Fantasy and Dungeon. Fantasy ended on a cliffhanger because he didn't make enough profit to carry it on and Dungeon sold the same as his other games so it's like he thought why pout in effort for the same money.

I regard WC's stuff as the "family restaurant meal" of VNs - doesn't pretend to try to be anything more than it is, you pretty much know what you're getting, and will fill your stomach while tasting fine but won't exactly blow your mind.
You want timeless masterpieces (Michelin star meals, to continue the restaurant analogy), look at more ambitious and better-resourced studios instead.

I felt your pain. Personally I cannot get into female protagonist porn games. I can't see myself being in a woman's perspective going around sucking dicks and taking it in the ass.
