VN - Ren'Py - Dual Family [v1.22.1ce] [Gumdrop Games]

Realistic pacing, none super model mom, nice renders and posing. dual roles to see the full story is a great mechanic. The build up for each character resonated with me, but good lord he needs more frequent updates though.

The one con I have for this game is it's not possible to have a shot to choose any of the characters. A lot of times I was screaming at the Son not stepping on the Dad/Daughter thing when he should have.

The defined stories limit what can go on. I mean, if you're locked into one character, why do you even bother having the Stats menu? At this point I have 3 points in the Sister, and I have to question why when you never let the brother and sister interact at all.

I love the more realistic body sizes as opposed to the ones seen several other games. Holding out hope that this is continued. The only real complaint I have is some of the angles for scenes, while somewhat visually pleasing, are kinda odd. Too many of them are actually dark and show nothing but lighting effects but. But most scenes involving the mother/daughter are fairly visible.

Great characters. A good story. It is well written. That's what we like ^^
Things aren't going to fast which makes it good and somehow believable. And the ''two way'' thing is a great innovation.
Great job. I'm eager to see what's next.

This game have had huge potential to be one of the best games of its genre. Characters were great, renders were also good and story was somewhat believable. What made this game interesting to me was advertisment of developer, which was that this game will be real life, choice based game. Which means no magics, no potions, special powers or abilities. Another thing was that this game have to MC ( Father and Son) . Except for the fact that this game started to fall apart.

1. Story - It all started there, where the story started to repeat itself. Sort of like deja vu. Some dialogue, especially between Son and Mom, was to desperate and toxic. There was no real progress in the story. Everything seamed same and in place instead of moving. The first 3-4 chapters were great, regarding the story, but eventually it became boring and same.

2. False advertisement - Kyle have had said himself that there will be no magics, potions and stuff like that. Then he/she introduced "Dream Sequences" with some crazed Skeleton. This was his/her attempt to add comedy to depressing game. Of course it failed and non of his/her patreons liked it, as well as the players of this forum. Besides, some crazy skeleton couldn't influence in the development of the story. Dream sequence was a missed opportunity for Kyle, where he/she could introduce some sex scenes, depending on which MC you play and with which character you build relationships.

3. Choice - What it seamed to be choice based game it came out to be choice doesn't matter. And it's like that. Sure you get some point but dialogue and story doesn't change regardless of what you choose.

4. Desperation - When patreons started complaining about the game, that there are no sex scenes and story progression, Kyle become desperate. He/she thought to introduce some sex scene between Son MC and Aunt. The infamous "Rape" scene that backfired, cuz nobody liked it. After that scene Son MC and Aunt continued like nothing happened. That's simply crazy but again i don't have Kyles brain (thank God cough)

5. Multiple missed deadlines - It's like that. Kyle have had missed several self imposed deadlines, constantly breaking them and making up excuses. The latest post of 21 May 2020 proves that. He/she constantly blames others for his/her incompetence and instead of punishing his/her several missed deadlines by canceling pledge, people seam to support him/her even more. Very strange indeed

To short things down, this game is abandoned, it's been like that for 2+ years and who knows if it will ever continue (highly doubtful). If you are a potential patron avoid this dev "Gumdrop Games - Kyle - Dual Family". The same goes for players who never played this game before. Don't waste your time downloading it, not worth it. You aren't missing anything.

Great visuals but that's the only good thing to me.

Weaknesses:
Poor writing.
One-dimensional characters.
9 chapters but so far no progression.
Developper's failures to deliver releases on time.

To sum up, a very disappointing game.

Genuinely don't know if the developper is honest. That may sound rude but I really think he's not taking the development of his game seriously.

Could have been interesting but i've got no idea if the dev is trying to be "arty" with the renders but you've got everything from extremely dark sex scenes to close ups of inanimate objects and weird angles.

It's bizarre but not in a good way.

Potential to be something different and potentially interesting. Bogged down by long time between updates and no real content beyond "artistic" nudity and dream sequences. I'll check back in 2025 to see if there is actual non-fantasy sex in it.

Graphics and models were perfectly fine but it was just extremely slow. I enjoy slow burners but this just didn't feel rewarding at all for how slow it was. And not trying to trash the work that people put into this, but a lot of the dialogue seemed pretty redundant. Felt like the father just kept having the same inner monologue over and over again.

A very dark, but enjoyable game. Everyone is struggling with a sense of rejection and looking to find solace. The game feels very intimate and the cast is very vulnerable. Uncovering the character's secrets and hurt is enjoyable and the writing is great. The characters don't feel transparent and becoming intimate with them is a slow burn. The best porn game characterization I have ever experienced.

Good Art, Good Story. Disgusting Dev. Don't waste your money on this guy, there are much better devs out there trying there best to release updates. you can expect 1 or 2 updates a year if your lucky. Don't misunderstand the updates them selves aren't meaty, It should take him 2-3 months for an update yet he takes half a year...

¨The game is cisually fine and it shows great promise in the beginning, but the story is either not made really great or just to complicated.

Playing the game, will leave you confused several times, because some scenes you don't even get to experience, but the characters talk about it.

I played this game for several hours, and the plot is cool, but how the narration and the scenes are made, is too confusing.

How are we supposed to react to scenes in a game, we don't even know about?

This game is one of the best FOR WHAT IT IS. People who are rating this game with a bad score are not being fair in their comparison. Just because they don't like it doesn't make it a terrible game. Just because it's not a full on porn game with fucking and nudity scenes doesn't make it a bad game.

ALOT of the bad ratings is due to the fact that a) The updates are slow coming. B) Because of the fact the developer makes lots of money the updates should be done more often. Well, if you don't like that DON'T BECOME A PATRON. DON'T SEND HIM MONEY. But those 2 reasons have NOTHING to do with whether the game is good or bad. Especially if you didn't pay a god damn cent to play it!

This game is VERY text heavy and has a pretty solid story. It features a lot of visuals with different angles which is unique and different from most games. You also have 2 stories within the game, you can play the Dad story and the Son story, which gives you both perspectives and 2 minigames within the same game.

It's probably not your bag if you want to just fap and drop a load. You'll have to look elsewhere for gratuitous porn, but if you enjoy a good story, good visuals, interesting concepts and a immersive story...this is for you.

One might wonder, oh why on earth is this a 2.5, yet is one of the most viewed threads in this forum section. Well the major setback that irks people, including myself is the slow update process, there has been a severe lack of content and the fact that the dev earns 10k on patreon doesn't sit well with people WHEN the updates come out every 3-4 months.


With that being said this review is relevant as of Chapter 9.

BE WARNED. This story is slow, its really slow paced to the point where it may just outlast your patience, so don't expect to fire up the game for a quick "happy time" this won't be providing that anytime soon. Not yet atleast.

What its about:

Yet another incest focused game but with such attention to detail using monologues allowing you, the user to discover the story of one family being driven apart due to a divorce from two perspectives, the father and the son. Journey with them as they start to discover newer relationships as they seek for approval which may very well lead to some interesting encounters in the future as they submit themselves to their innermost desires.

The Highs:

Realistic to a certain extent
Believable characters in terms of behaviour

The Lows:
The Single BIGGEST ONE: Transitions from one scene to another are just... abrupt and strange at certain points. The author really needs to work on how he moves from one scene to another.
No sexual interactions as of this chapter
Updates aren't fast enough
Some writing needs to emphasise character development, while present it is miniscule.
Pacing may not be to everyone's taste.


Verdict:
Because of the consistency of the characters I've found myself drawn to them and I'm craving for the next update, while it isn't the most perfect game out there, its one of the few games I'm emotionally attached to as I really want to know what the dev has in store for us. This is why I shrug off his slow updates, and is one of the few reasons why I won't rate it a full 5 on 5.

had HUGE potential. first picked it up in like october or something and didnt know what all the "its slow" thing was about. back then i liked it. now when i can play every update when it comes out rather than in one go i see that its terrible. its realistic and different and blah blah YES, IT IS.
but the story doesnt go ANYWHERE. No progress, zero development, you are going in circles again and again. when you play the new update you are no closer than where you were 3 months ago. its just stupid.

the dev had few distinctive how do i call it, features (the camera angles, melancholic feeling, slow build up) but instead of using them moderately to spice the main dish, he turned them into the main dish. thats all this game is, nauseating weird angles, characters who should all see a psychiatrist and a story that doesnt go ANYWHERE.

The story runs sooooo slooooow and the characters are so confused and melodramatic ... For the love of god man - your "art" story sucks massive. For me even the existence of this novel is a waste of time and resources. Maybe GUMDROP have a sweet Patreon deal, but for fap game this is a big pile of nothing.

Started as a good game. It had this dark mood, and depressive undertones i think you need to make an incest game at all realistic. Then the creator went on a long milking run, and now seems to have lost his mind. Too bad really..

Game about relationship and not about just sex can't be bad.Of course game is not a perfect and have weak points and some of them really big,for example:

Good points:
1.Simple but interesting plot.In my opinion vn games don't have a need in really twisted plot.Let it be simple plot without unexpected turns, but with really elaborated characters and deep relationships between them and with good dialogs.This game is excellent example of that.Simple plot about the problems of family but focus is on relationship's between family members.For example DoD have focus on plot(and,IMHO, the plot is really bad ) but not on relations.
2.Graphic.The game have really good picture and later it's become only better.The scene's with Maddy was SOOOO FASCINATING!!!That scene with her face made me freeze for some hours. Really good work!
3.Relationship.I had already wrote about that,but they have been made really good.Really i think it's one of the best game with deep relationship.When i'm played in some other games, i have been making a facepalm and saying: "it's sooo stupid!!!!" but not with this game.Of course it's not a perfect but it's have been well done.

So far, this is the best game for me. First of all for me the most important thing in adult games is a story. And in this game the story is interesting and exciting. Secondly, you have two games in one. Thirdly, renders are excellent. Sorry for my english
