Why indeed?

There's a problem with that, Jessica could have been just a concubine but not a mere one, she was The One Truly Love of Duke Leto Atreides and she respond to him as well by the same coin... That was the only one reason why Paul came to be born, because yes, Jessica is actually Paul's biologic mother, because of this she get in trouble with the Bene Gesserit Sisterhood who wanted a girl, a daughter from Leto who would be train as Bene Gesserit and would be married with Feyd Rautha Harkonnen to breed a male who would be the perfect human with all access to the memories of all his ancestors and see the future... The called Kwisatz Haderach, Paul must have born as a girl but Jessica truly loved so much Leto, as he doesn't have heirs of his own, she gave him a son instead.

So, that is the canon story of before arriving Arrakis where everything goes out of hands pretty quickly (as the meme), to fulfill a story about Paul having an affair with her, in my perspective she must be really careless, pretty selfish centered on her own to do whatever she wants and to do whatever it need to be taken to fulfill her goals. Iirc, the only reason Jessica train Paul, it was because she noted his natural abilities and because he was her son... As i see it, the lost of Leto would make an impulse for both to rely in each other, as a noble house, Paul hadn't friends of his age (nor less girlfriends), if we combine that with Oedipus Complex and the grief of losing Leto with both of them rely on each other it would make a credible set to show some incest.

PS: now that i'm thinking about the Bene Gesserit breeding program of 10K years, i don't remember the reasons of why Paul could achieved to be the long waited Kwisatz Haderach by the Sisterhood, but i think that other sista must have mess up something in a 10k years planned parenthood

From Lore Paul wasn't born the Kwisatz Haderach, but came to it through the Water of Life he took before the final battle with the Harkonnen, and there is often discussion on what the Kwisatz Haderach is, the BG define it as the being who can look beyond the veil which Paul can do, Paul and Jessica use it a bit different.

I have read that Paul's son Leto II IS the Kwisatz Haderach, but don't recall that from Children of Dune.

Hi everyone!

Just giving you an update on the current state of development. Currently chapter 2 is well underway and is starting to flesh out nicely. So, after a lot of delays, distractions and procrastination, we're back on track, making new stuff and aiming for an update.

Expect a continuation of our main storyline (loosely following the original book) along side some new side content for you all to enjoy, including repeatable events, gameplay features and new characters!

One thing to note, this chapter is big. Like really big. After all, the story will no longer take place on a tiny transport. That means we will release the next chapter in several parts. We think that a sensible estimate for a release date would be around late January to early February. That way there will be enough new content for it to be worth playing. This may change depending on our progress (life getting in the way and all that) but we'll be sure to keep you all updated.

The first release of chapter 2 will also include the revamped and remade images for chapter 1, so be sure to replay that!

Seeing as we've kept you waiting for so long, we decided to include a little teaser for now. Read a snippet of one of the new scenes below!

True, it ain't like they aren't trading spices the most expensive goods. Plus they do grow trees, they just have to be very carefully looked after and watered. Think they even mentioned it in the Dune (2021 film)?

In public, Paul would still have to treat her like a sister, at least until his rule as Emperor is cemented. And since Alia is an abomination, she's more of an equal to him anyway. No matter what, I don't think Alia would really behave like a daughter, except deliberately for the sake of kinkiness.

Making Alia inbred seems to be a no-brainer for this kind of game, and yet I like to imagine her as the bratty little sister, who has a bit of a rivalry with Paul. So I'm torn between these two versions. Maybe it's possible to have both at the same time.

But who would want to play through the canon timeline? I understand there would be incest with Alia at some point, but... an incest-themed game where the incest only occurs at the end and in the new game plus? Doesn't sound very appealing to me.

i'm personally really not a fan of father/daughter. it's always grossed me out but you're free to take the story where you see fit, though i probably won't go for those scenes if they're optional

If I recall correctly, there was mention in the book of how the Harkonens had trees in the palace gardens to make a point to the populace, because each of those trees required more water each day than an entire family in a year, or something along those lines. And how the pan and fremen hated them.

Almost. There were palm trees outside the palace, next to the road. Planted by the Harkonnens as a show of power like you said. I just looked it up again and it was 20 date palms. Not exactly construction wood, as far as I know.
And then there was a seperate indoor garden, planted by Lady Fenring.

And you're definitely right, hardly construction wood, both for the type and the quantity. I honestly don't know why I replied that to a post about importing construction wood. I think I might have read your post diagonally, or just had a brain fart.

On second thought, and after reading again your post that I replied to, I think I was meaning to actually just agree with greeneyed 's post about them growing trees in Arrakeen. My bad, I certainly didn't explain myself very well.

Hi... I have been on F95 for ages... I don't post. I don't tend to want to influence direction of the creator, I don't particularly think my opionions should influence the direction of a project , I watch a lot of opinions flying around and think to myself .... "Tool".... and I dont want to be judged a "Tool" by others...

Sorry to say that we've had to delay the chapter 2 release for a bit longer due to lack of time and the usual IRL shenanigans. We're not entirely sure how long we'll have to delay for but as usual we'll keep you all updated!
