Why Do You Not Play Female Protagonist Gamess?

The reward loop in female protagonist styled games is usually backwards. Meaning you need to fail to see the scenes. In rpgmaker games that means you have to get your ass kicked in combat.
You're just describing badly designed games, which to be fair, is the majority of games.

...

A good porn game has sexual elements, whether winning or losing.

I am really curious to ask this then (since it sounds like you might be one of the target demographic for my upcoming game):

I am trying to create a fantasy setting corruption game with a good plot, and semi-believable female MC. However, this comes at the expense of less adult scenes. In most fantasy/scifi corruption games the world-buildling and characters are B or C grade, to get to the good stuff quickly and frequently. Case in point: Cyberslayers, Defenestration, Claire's Quest, Oni etc...

I wonder if I'm shooting myself in the foot by putting so much emphasis on character, world-building, and a tight and interesting plot. So, would a player like yourself still be interested in this type of game if it paced abit slower, had a greater emphasis on plot and character, and more natural interactions? (There are still hardcore content, but only if you get into a dangerous situation and make a choice there.)
Not at all, man!

The Hentai / Pornography that sells the most and ends up with sequels has a story and premise to it.

One Hentai that I've gotten REALLY into thanks to a nice girl in college corrupting me was Taimanin Asagi.

So, that work can be described as :Incompetent Bimbo Ninjas get gang banged and humiliated.

But, it's deeper than that.

It starts off with this woman who is at the apex of power in the Ninja world making the biggest mistake of her life : Killing Oboro.

Oboro is weaker than Asagi, but she is clever, she is patient, and most importantly she is petty, she doesn't forget, and she doesn't forgive and she is literally the WORST person ever.

After Asagi kills Oboro, fast forward : She's getting ready to retire from being a ninja and about to marry the love of her life. Oboro then comes in and takes EVERYTHING from her. Even Asagi's younger sister's chastity and innocence is taken by Oboro.

Oboro becomes Asagi's worst enemy, and Oboro has her bound, stripped naked and raped by hundreds of men to a point where she begins to break.

When I first saw this, I was disgusted. . .But I wanted to get laid, so I pretended I liked it. Fast forward to age 30 and I actually end up liking this stuff.

I'm not saying you need to be as intense as Taimanin Asagi, but everyone loves worldbuilding and character.

Just ONE thing you have to remember : A character isn't a person, they are the IDEA of a person. Make these little actions reveal themselves to the audience, but only what you WANT them to see so that they can arrive at that conclusion.

If you overshare what your character is, you bore your audience.

Take Jujutsu Kaisen for example : Occasionally, the characters will do a monologue about why they do what they do, or wax poetry on what it means to be a Jujutsu Sorcerer.

But, their behaviors and actions will be JUUUUST interesting enough to get you thinking : "wait, this guy is actually pretty cool."

A fan favorite character of Jujutsu Kaisen is Kento Nanami. He graduated Jujutsu High and became a Salaryman, but the way he goes about telling us his story is : "I left Jujutsu High because JUJUTSU SORCERERS ARE SHIT!" and "I left work because CORPORATE WORK IS SHIT." and he chose the lesser of two evils. As you watch/ read more JJK, you see Nanami doing these little things that tell you a bit more about who he is and what he's about.

Despite coming off as cold, he's actually fiercely protective of women and children, and despite being a dependable sorcerer that everyone respects, he's actually reached his peak, and you end up finding out he has reached a peak due to his unchanging mindset.

Did that ted talk make sense? ^^

The only reason why people don't want to play the role of a female protagonist is because they want to enjoy the story of a male protagonist. For example, male protagonists can bone females and sexually interact with them, whether that be an RPG or VN game. All really depends on a person's preference.

I don't like female protagonist games, but from time to time I play such games because often they are about how a woman is seduced and corrupted. I like this theme, but there is very little of it in games with a male protagonist.

Hey, thanks man for your reply! Yeah that does make sense.

Good to know there is an appetite for story and characters. I agree. I think a good story/character actually sets up the context. It's not so hot to jerk off to characters in a void. But with contenxt, suddenly the encounter can be framed in different ways. For example: if a girl is having sex with a man - okay cool, it's like any porno. But let's sayit's her billionaire boss, the same boss she fantasized about for years. Meanwhile, she recently engaged to her long term boyfriend ... suddenly the context is charged with a forbidden element and potential consequences.

What I wonder is how much patience/appetite players have for going above and beyond the immediate context. To worldbuild. To flesh out characters. (I.e. in above example, to dive into the corporation, or the girl's relationship with her fiance). Let's say for sake of argument it's well-written and interesting. As a writer I can't help fleshing out my world and characters, even if it doesn't set up context for an erotic scene. I guess telling stories turns me on lol. I just wonder if readers would enjoy a sidetrack into some character/world/backstory building.

Secondly, I like your "character is an idea of a person". I actually heard this writing advice from another author too. And the best writing gives you 1 and 1, and lets you add it together to 2. At least, I think that's what your getting at.

In any case, thanks for your feedback man. The Taimanin Asagi hentai sounds interesting, not sure if it's exactly my jam but I'll check it out sometime.

Glad I can help! By the way, try not to be too down in the dumps if you end up watching Taimanin Asagi 2, that ending wasn't canon. (Thank GOD)

Really? You don't like playing a female protagonist character in games? Females have boobs and puss, dudes don't obviously. But the reason why I play a female character is because it gives me something to look at. ;)

Yeah same. I always pick female characters in games cause I'll rather stare at a girl then some dude's ass all day. I have no problem role-playing as a girl, although I always pick the lesbian route.

When available, I always choose a female character. Why wouldn't you? Boobs and pussy are great eye candy. :D

Slightly off topic, but, in all the female MC games I've played, I was never able to rename the MC, while in almost all male MC games we can. I'd like to be able to rename a female MC.

Good observation. I haven't really noticed this myself.

Sex mechanic. If you play as a female, the most popular sex scene is when you loose a fight, i think 70% of the games.
It is unlikely to have reverse rape scene after the wining.
Additionally high procent of the games where the protagonist is female are metroidvania genere.
If i want to play metroidvania i play metroid or cstlevania.

There are some highly rated female protagonist games that don't fit that mould. The first few that comes to mind

- Rise of the White Flower
- Survival of Sarah Rose
- Good Girl Gone Bad

I've always made the point that a female character works best where you want to depict other females getting fucked by other men or creatures and not make it NTR, in a game with a male protagonist, most players will prefer the male protagonist fucks the women. A female protagonist works best for a free for all.

I agree with you entirely on this.
I really enjoy seeing a female protagonist getting fucked, more than seeing a male protagonist fucking.

A few reasons why I don't play porn games as a female character.
1) I don't like the same model (even if it can be changed), the same applies to playing as a female character with a dick (futa).
2) Most often you are raped in this game (or teammates).
3) There is no feeling that it is you who gets pleasure.
4) More often than not they draw things that make you feel bad.

I like games with female protagonists, my favourite game is one. But I'm very picky with them. It's been said a dozen times here, but a lot of them have garbage characterisation that's just embarrassing and the male "playmates" in those games are in bad need of a lethal injection. It's worst in Japanese shovelware like retard-in-Lecherville games, but there are enough western games that try to imitate that.

Oh yeah, I know what you mean. Japanese retard-in-Lecherville characters are not even real characters, but a projected caricature for porn.

Have you tried "Say It Again"?

It's completed, and very well done.

It's hard to find a good female protagonist game, for me.
It has been said before but it usually means getting molested or raped, and if there's combat involved you have to lose to get the h scenes which are, again, most likely rape, and I don't like any of that, I like when girls want to have sex.
I do like female protagonist games when the girl in question is super fucking hot, like Izumi from Shipwrecked Spaceship Todoroki, because even if that game has a lot of rape, I can overlook it given how hot Izumi is.
What male protagonist games also usually offer is a variety of girls to choose from which most female protagonist games do not, and that not only means more people are able to find at least one girl in the game that they'll like but it also offers more possibilities for sexual encounters in the plot.
Not sure if you consider futanari protagonists as female protagonists but I do and in that case it's fine because you can have all the male protagonist benefits while still playing as a girl.
