When I first saw the game I wasn't even aware there was incest in the game. That Roxxy logo + the name Summertime Saga, I thought it was gonna be some 80's thing,




It's NOT Patreon or Paypal that's doing this ultimately, it's the credit card companies man. They have rules and there are laws. ANYTHING related to a crime can't legally get you paid. Visa, Mastercard, etc, don't want anything fucking up their billions and billions of dollars and if you dare remotely jeopardize that, you're getting cut off from their service, which means you can't get money they currently owe you, and you can't get anymore money from their service. That's pretty much a death kneel in almost any business today. All the porn made by big companies has strict rules to not run afoul of these companies because it would destroy their business model. As long as the porn you make is well within the legal guidelines, the CC's don't care because what you are doing is legal. Soon as you start getting into risky territory you endanger your relationship with them, which is why you have seen a decline in certain themes in the porn industry.

Patreon is likely peanuts to Visa and company. Shutting them out doesn't really mean much to them. However, for Patreon to lose their services, they're screwed. They can't afford to do that, so they have to play by their rules.



Does no one seem to understand how much work goes into making a game? Most games have teams of people involved and those take years to produce. DC is one guy who probably has a life and this is a side project that has luckily gotten good for him. 4 months is nothing. It's probably gonna be 4 years before he's done. Should he hire more people, perhaps. But, and this is the beauty here, he's got total control over this art. No one is giving him deadlines or making demands of him or else he's getting terminated. He is the Orsen Fucking Wells of incest gaming and frankly, you can't rush that kind of artistic genius. If he hires more people, it's gonna hurt something, and will likely bother DC immensely. He clearly cares about this project as a craft. He could have abandoned a long time ago or even right now, and there was nothing stopping him from that. Instead, he didn't quit, and he's still chugging along, doing it the best he can as he can, with no pressure, and he's giving it all away for FREE.

Maybe he's milking us. Just my opinion here, but I'd rather this one lowly guy be milking me while giving away his product for free, over being constantly ripped off by "triple aaa gaming" companies whose singular goal is unequivocally to fleece as much money out of the consumer as possible so their stock prices keep going up and their CEO's get bigger checks and their employees, who do all the actual work, getting next to nothing for all their hard work and they live in constant fear of being replaced for one reason or another. DC and this project ain't nothing like that, and it's great because of it IMHO.

Ok see, I don't fucking get that. I've seen big porn companies make incest vids before. Granted they're obviously not really related I mean ffs, but how does that make it any less illegal from incest in drawn porn? Or any of the other shit they censored? My bad man, I'll drop it after the last post and this. I just wanted to point out it's not Patreon making this all happen, it's credit card companies that are dictating what is happening. Yes, you do not. Games are not all the same, do you think Flappy Birds took years to make, do you think as much development goes into Summertime Saga as GTA 5.

DC is one guy AND DC has a team of coders/other guys who do tasks that he isn't able to do. It's not some sort of side project anymore. He's making 25k dollars for month out of it. One hell of a side project. Just the make points clear, since too often people come here and start shouting non-sense.

The poll only lasted a day and is closed by now. Roxxy won and the main story (now including pregnancy) got second place while the underground cult became third. There should be a screenshot somewhere in this topic with detailed results.

It's a professional business right now and certain things could go better but in end the the game still is made of the things DC draws and no money in the world can make him draw faster/more than is "physically" possible, just like it happens to be with any other artist. So there is certainly a correlation between developement speed/features of the game (like usability of old saves which should come this year) and the money DC earns but there are limits. He is looking for a second artist right now who can help him but I can understand that he's very carefully here and doesn't want to take "anybody" just to get things done faster. Inconsistent or bad art would be really bad for the game and at least I think that quality/details are more important than speed in this case.

Maybe that was fine a year ago but if you're pulling in the equivalent of $300k a year you need to up your game. We're waiting on stuff that could have been sorted earlier. Everything else except art doesn't matter at all for the overall release schedule. Even if they'd finish coding/posing the same day DC finishes the art for let's say 0.15 all that would mean is that we'd have to wait that exact same amount of "saved" time longer to get 0.16. That's it. So you are really complaining about nothing. If DC needs 50 days to draw the art for an update it's going to take ~50 days plus the time for coding/posing to release it, if he takes ~90 days it's going to take 90 days plus the time for coding/posing. Nothing will change that until we get another artist and the only update where the speed coding/posing will really matter will be the very last one.

I was already thinking that he should simply remove those different categories from the progress bar and just use one bar so people can't complain about art/coding/posing anymore.

Yes, there are things which should/will be adressed (save compatibilty/game size/gallery/etc.) given he earns so much but the speed of coding and posing should really matter to nobody - at least not as long as DC draws fulltime and more.

Do you? The fact the guy has a personal life is part of why stuff takes even longer. If he goes to jail or worse, guess what, game is probably over for a while. And it's still just DC doing all the art. It's still his baby that he's maintaining control over. Good for him. It's not this giant project with hundreds of people working on it 40+ hours a week. Why does everyone keep bitching that it's taking too long when even professional products can suffer delays and they have big money behind them.

It is actually DC's "job" and real paycheck. He's been working in the gaming industry for about 10 years and wanted to start his own thing. SS was never meant to be a real game but was just a test/doodle which then became popular and developed into what it is now. That's why Roxxy is the title girl even though she was added only later to the game, why the MC is only squeezed into the logo and why the code is still not as good as it should be (because DC "sucks" at coding and now dogeek will have to clean all the initial code up). He mentioned that he has quite a few ideas for several future games so I think we can expect him and kompas productions to stay as long as possible and with all that he's got. I'm actually pretty shure that he can manage to stay around for quite some time if SS isn't even the best he can do.
