I've played up to v .0.20.5
Since this is a revamp, I'm not sure if you're sticking to the original numbering for updated chapters, or using a new system.
Should I replay this? Has it gone beyond the content that I've already played?
When you say to "start over from the beginning" for each update, that gets old QUICK!!! It's FAR better to continue a story, than play Groundhog Day by endlessly repeating content.

So I got a bit confused what you were asking here so i'll give a detailed response and hopefully that answers your questions. If the last version you played was v0.20.5 then there is already an original version of the story that progresses beyond that (that would be v0.21.4). v0.21.4 is the end of the original content and ends the story. it has the second half of chapter 10 in it and depending on your reading speed is probably another 90 minutes to 2 hours worth of game play beyond what you've seen.
In terms of the Revamp, that version starts back over at the Prologue/Chapter 1 and will progress through all 10 chapters. All chapters will have the same flow to them and will be numbered identical to the original. I have changed a couple of the chapter names and quotes associated with them but nothing drastic. As of right now, the Revamp only goes up through Chapter 4 (up to the first half of Chapter 5 on Patreon and will be released here on March 27 free). This version has expanded scenes, licensed music soundtrack, sound effects, and is completely reshot including an increasing inclusion of animations and with other students at the school so it's not so fucking empty. The Revamp also removes the repeating stuff at the beginning because it was annoying. Basically when i started this project I had zero experience with game development, writing, or anything required for this project which is why the original just progressively gets and looks better. I was happy with the total story so i wanted the entire project to be of the ending quality. I recommend the Revamp to those who want a new experience and are fresh to the story or for those who have finished the original. In comparison to the original, the Revamp is the same story but feels wildly upgraded. I'm not going to spend a lifetime on this but the quality upgrade is insane so far. i'm just happy with it and the response so far has been overwhelmingly positive.
In terms of "start over from the beginning" i'm assuming you're talking about not using old saves like the warning message states. To clarify, you dont have to actually play the full game again. you just need to click New Game and then pick the chapter you want then answer a couple quick questions (like one or two). Those answers will create variables that will mimic you're old save file and drop you in at the start of that chapter (or in the case of v0.21.4, will drop you in at the second half of Chapter 10). In other words, if you started playing v0.21.4, using this method would drop you off at the exact same point as when you stopped playing. every update with this project has always progressed the story forward and never required you to replay things over. You just have to click New Game and jump to the newest content.
The reason i used this method is because 1) i didn't plan chapters in advance. to create the story and choices, the game uses variables. Those variables have to be defined at the start of the game. but if i haven't written that section yet, those variables dont exist yet. 2) in the distant past, if i did include variables in the code, certain people like to try and break into the code and look for variables and then spoil things for others just for attention. so i just never include variables about future chapters in the story.

Updated the OP with Revamp v0.10.1 links. This adds the first half of Chapter 5. Also, the shower sequence at the end of chapter 1 with Zack solo is now animated rather than using shitty static image dissolves-- been wanting to do that for awhile.

this story was not intended to focus on gender benders, traps, or fem boys at all. it's very much the opposite of that and actually goes out of it's way to confront those stereotypes. it's more "bro" than anything

Heya, thanks. Glad you're enjoying it. I actually take that part pretty seriously. I think music can make or break things and I also understand that music is very subjective so it's a tough job but my goal is to enhance things and hopefully not everyone mutes it
. Buit there are definitely some parts that I've gone back to and been like "yep, i'm still really glad I chose that sound for that scene." Glad it working for you and thanks for reading/playing I´m on my second run. I played the Skyrim soundtrack often in the original. Oh man, love the story. This is definitely an expensive process to do legally which is why it's taken so long to implement and why I accept donations while still keeping the project free. People have been kind and generous in supporting the project and spreading the word about it so i've been fortunate enough to continue to upgrade hardware and improve the quality of it-- hence the Revamped version. Seriously glad you liked the story-- that means a lot to me <3

Iam not gay but the gay game straight by aaryn changed my perspective since I hate gay games but this one has great story which was a surprise and can work without sexual content,the connection btwn main characters was great, can't wait for updates,it is deserving of it's 4.9 rating,mind....blown

thank you for giving it a try even tho it was outside of your normal comfort zone. i'm honestly honored it kept your attention and i always love it when people say they feel like the story could stand on it's own even without the sex content. that being said, people have asked about an... unsexy version.... (i'm not sure what to call it). I haven't done that because i felt that the sex stuff in the story is actually necessary here because it does argue a lot of sexual points about growing up and being comfortable with your own body. I was also worried about accidently making the story attractive to a younger audience then having them subsequently seek out the naughty version. that's a recipe for disaster. so nope, lol.but thank you so much for chiming in. appreciate you taking my project seriously and for just being open minded enough to try it in the first place. we definitely accept you into the flock. stay safe and all the best to you

So BTC is a lot more porn and kink based than what my project focuses on. I did actually support BTC early on because i wanted to help promote other LGBT creators and it's hard to start from scratch on things like this. I know a handful of people from my community have played it or have even gone on to help manage aspects of it or the BTC community. I also talked to the lead developer a couple of times before the project became more community based and one of the main writers was an avid supporter of my project way back in the day; they both seemed like nice guys. I will say that the content in that game is a little past my personal comfort zone. I'm not into dom/subby play, power, bondage, or roleplay stuff at all, but that's a personal preference and shouldn't have any affect on how you or others view that project. I'm pretty vanilla when it comes to adult content-- hence why Straight!? is much more tame than some other projects. However, the renders were good and there's some good animation in the earlier builds that I was impressed with before I started doing more animation for my Revamp. Character personalities were unique and I'm always a fan of that and last I knew there were plans for a larger story (I played a very early build probably at least 2 years ago so I'm not sure where things are now). On a personal downside: I do know they've been increasingly using more AI, which I'm very much creatively against and won't be using in any of my projects.
That being said, I'm also terrible at playing other people's projects. In the past, I tried some other games and found that reading other people's writing tends to influence mine and that has negatively affected the consistency of Straight!? three different times so I mostly stopped until this is completed. Sometimes, I'll check out things between updates now but only if I'm able to not have it affect my own project-- it's just a personal weakness that I haven't figured out how to compensate for yet, but I'll get there eventually. Straight!? is a passion project for me that I didn't want influenced by anything else so I live in a bubble
. Sadly, that means that I'm very far behind on playing other games or stories so I'm not the best person to ask about recommendations.
