I like freedom. all VN or pseudo sandbox games made with RPGs are not as good as this game. i'd like to see more gameplay in h-projects, not just beautiful graphics.

The UI could improve, certainly. I think the problem is that people might be jumping in without trying the tutorial character first (which, itself, is still not ideal, considering the layers of management present in the game), then the game throws everything and the kitchen sink at them from the start, they quickly get overwhelmed and bounce off of it.

Visually the UI is fine, it is not ugly-looking and actually rather pretty in some aspects.

The issue is that it is extremely disorganized in its design, information and options that should be in proximity to each other due to similar use cases are often scattered in completely different windows and menus for no reason.

It also fails to draw attention to the really critical features over the clutter of random miscellaneous ones. I.e, why the fuck is the "change/create" menu, the one that lets you spend skill/genetic points to improve the 3 classic protagonists and actually make use out of their unique abilities, just in a random box on the bottom left part of your screen and given the same prominence as buttons like "Wait 15 min" or "Date Deck"? The first is a rather useless shortcut while the latter is related to just the dating minigame.

The tutorials and some trial-and-error make it perfectly doable to learn the game, but the UI really doesn't do it any favors from a practical standpoint.

It's not really a problem of UI or Tutorials, it's simply just a difficult game to get in to because it has no progression and pacing to slowly ease you in.
In fact what you do on Day 1 could make or break your run.
And it's not a easy game for beginners when the game throws King's Quests, Combat, Expeditions and Making Money.
Especially if you do shorter runs it absolutely spams you with essence portals and artifacts.
And it's not a easy game for experienced players if you crank up the difficulty modifiers and CR.

Players just need to figure out some strategies for themselves they do in the first few Days.
Personally my strategy is prepare my starters for the brothel just to get some reliable source of money, especially if they are virgins.
Then use Dating and Recruiting the Town NPCs to make decent expedition party that doesn't depend on your starters that much.

The best guide is to just try things, experiment and survive the first days.
If you can do that consistently then you are over the learning cliff.
The guides aren't going to help you as much as you learn and internalize yourself, that has been my experience with the game and solidified into a strategy on how I play the game in the first days where it's the most essential in getting you started.
Once you get the ball rolling the ball will keep rolling.

hold on, this game is considered not good looking? the art style is in the top10 ever made, and this includes games that took a turn for the worst. I sure hope this one doesn't get a 'visual revamp'

Yes, especially if you compare the old artstyle and newer one they started employing a few years back to now, where both the art and sprites have far more detail and unique feel compared to earlier imagery, some of it still can be accessed in-game for comparison - strong artistic skill can carry shortcomings in other departments like the lack of sounds at the moment, but I am sure it will be changed later when there's more resources so to speak.

Now some other thing to revise at first - turns out the alchemist succubus is not weak as I thought - thanks to tripled resource gain when collecting fluids manually(both in-combat and otherwise), you can easily amass enough material to craft capacity potions, which increase your health/mana by 8 each total per craft, so combined with stability potions, you can keep going; naturally it means other professions are weak options due to fact you can only equip consumables on yourself, but it also means they have best usage for potions they make, even compared to other characters who cannot scale as fast, though this is offset by fact they can equip armor/weapons in the first place. So that's something I thought as weak actually is strong if you get it working but it takes a while to get either such high gene characters to collect from, or late brothel shows, which you get by first raising sexual skills and then doing shifts since low level shows are not worth their time unlike shift, which gives plenty of experience till you reach the 3rd or above rank, after which you can start shows that earn more than shift does. I would say, this character is much better than the gold consuming giant dragon character, since their gold growth is not as fast as theirs, and inability to do daily arena matches due to their giant size. Sure the starting stats are a major point, but when you cannot do daily arena, it prevents a consistent source of garuanteed money/experience options that normally is present. Or characters of sufficent genes to ressurect when you have the necromancer.

Still, compared to soul born human character, who can in theory attack as many times as they have access to cleanse/shift combo by having sufficent health/mana/max morale to keep going, that one is more consistent as opposed to getting and heavily relying on upgraded items to make that possible.

there was some post after about error with the download link, and while I don't know if anyone would still interest in the old version, the discord above have all the new and past version.

Developer likes to release a bugfix version 2-3 weeks after a major release.
So the version you see in this thread tends to lag behind.

All right, new patch, new features, new balance - let me explain the changes that I had experienced in order:

Balancing - breeding has gone through a major change, but what I consider major is ability to hatch in any enviroment, just with penalties, which removed the old system restrictions and made the crystal room from not exactly great for maximum stability when you have high magic characters with incubating trait to a viable alternative to ice room, due to new system ensuring that it will be a simple bonus that is easier to handle, while incubating trait still is great for maxing out production.

The fusion/breeding focus was removed for rather understandable reasons, but instead you can upgrade characters genes by combining ones of same value like with old fusion focus, so the mushroom essence strategy is still valid, however the ones related to inhereting levels and such instead incur a permanent cost increase, which means you can only use such options for only so much until its cost becomes untenable and effectively unusuable till new game plus - its to stop how good they were long term, but it also means people will just use regular options and only use them if they have no other option to. Stacking ancient power and using level fusion to skip its drawback for high level characters from challenge portals being one old trick that is now expensive to run.

The new character abilities are quite a gamechanger on plenty of them - the guardian succubus and soul human can freely change abilities on any character, though in case of soulborn human, the transformation related abilities they had cannot be accessed anymore unless you have a angel demon to use their shift skill, though you can apply their abilities on practically anyone, including non inheritable abilities, making them very flexible and very powerful, especially considering you can have multiples of abilities that are normally exclusive to 1 character, like resurrection and summon copy. While its bugged to adapt a character when you change skills that way, there's also issues with other characters trying to change their non inheritable skills being unable to do so due to the system not being fixed yet. So you can end up with certain permanent skills by mistake unless you play said 2 characters who can change freely. And yes, if you summon the human creators via archive while playing as said characters, you can adapt their 0 mana damage skills on anyone, making them redundant to play as seperately. You still have to improve magic power to make their skills shine, but once you do, the field will be turned into wasteland really quick.

Less powerful but notable include the "goblin" elf who crafts items at 2 levels of upgrade, which means equipment crafted by them will start twice as strong if its special equipment, making them fast at upgrading gear and strong at same time as long you get resources to keep it going, and professions like soul reaper becoming stronger as a result when playing as them. The brother lady can recruit bosses, both animal or otherwise, which allows you to greatly turn the tides in your favor, if you can teleport them and then fuse said characters to ensure they wont eat your food supply while adjusting them to your needs, and able to get them without relying on challenge portals to do so. However, I think by doing that you get denied of their boss drops, so if that's the case, then its more of a drawback than anything else, though arena recruitment part would be a strong boon, if not for existance of necromancer character who can ressurect defeated fighters(as well 2 characters who can adapt their skill), especially in gacha modifier that hardens recruitment. There's also others, but I do not think they are strong or notable to be included here.

Simplified modifier is quite an interesting one, as it removes the concept of growth, and compared to equality world modifier, it does a much better job due to fact instead of encountering level 5+ enemies to make up for its obvious drawback of limiting growth, you instead get and upgrade equipment in its place, and makes characters with good stats but bad growth much better, especially druid who simply gets a minor drawback of getting less points, solved by having a profession that generates favors every 2 days plus knowing. A close contender is shapeshifter with god profession, who is less powerful offense wise but has flexibility still, especially considering they are a bad character to use stat boosting potions compared to others due to their mechanics. But things like bosses are unchanged - they still have great amounts of health, meaning you cannot quickly beat them without having a strong plan in the first place, but its still easier than fighting them unprepared before.

The UI was improved, as it reads better and now highlights interactions that increase your sex skill level cap, ensuring that you will not waste time in the first place. Currently the fish unit is displayed as a maid unit, which suggests that its name was mixed up with an actual future character.

I can say for sure that this update is a strong path to improvement. I haven't experienced the new event yet, but apparently the new alternative ending is linked to it.
