Hmm... I'm not sure... Maybe it's a daughter of his step-sister? But in that case is she's still his niece? Not that I care about boning her (I'm all for other routes) but I hate how politic can force devs to do anything. In Babysitter I doubt he will change any content but who knows. I'm sure tho future devs will try to avoid incest, rape and bestiality changing whole market accordingly.

Anyone think I could get away with adding a line in my disclaimer saying the characters are not related but are only depicted as related for story reasons?

At this point I would say it's easier to just not mention their relation. They didn't really started those reviews and bans in mass yet so it's hard to say. There are still devs with straight incest on their main page and those who removed it. If DMD returned after such a thing I think it's not about content. Only thing that makes me worry is DoD ban as it might be indication that content do matter as it would be a matter of hour to remove any incest from his page.

That wouldn't make any sense. It can be used in porn videos because they are real actors and someone could think they are indeed related, but in your case it is just rendered images, just computer pixels, not real actors.

What you could do, but that would require a bit of programming, is create a switch in your game so the player chooses if they are blood-related or not. That MAY circunvent this issue.

I'm also writing a story were being blood-related would play a major role (more headed towards the moral conflicts of incest) and this news kinda left me with a sour taste in my mouth...

I mean, yeah, sure I COULD make them non blood-related but... I don't know... That would end up being just plain silly.

I mean, they aren't actually gonna download and play the games there is no way they'd have time to do that for the thousands of games out there, just remove reference of stuff on the patreon page description if you are worried.

Kinda like how there are a shitload of games with "all characters are 18+" on patreon pages, and the little blurb at the beginning of the game when it is pretty obvious certain characters aren't designed to actually be 18.

I still think that if this is a "government crackdown", then Patreon is just going to tell it's content producers to just sanitize their webpages and hide the content behind a paywall.

And, again, if government, then this is clearly a response to Weinstein and further pedo accusations coming out of Hollywood, esp since Patreons head office is located in California. With that said though, once this whole thing dies down, so does the government interference because it is just a play for them to shown as doing something about the problem.

Clearly, based on the "sanitization" of the webpages, Patreon doesn't want to lose the games business models in regards to the development of games like DMD, DoD, etc... because based on the graphic from either this thread or in the DMD, over 20% of their income is based on adult content. I am curious though, how much Patreon takes as it's cut from the donations.

Removing references is already quite bad. Dev won't be able to attract attention with such games without ads which will make those games a niche

Really though I don't think they'll actually do anything too drastic because they'd have to delete legit at least half the creator accounts on patreon, and I haven't actually seen anything other than DoD and DMD getting in trouble so far, so they might have just been chosen at random "to prove a point."

Like I said there are literal entire sections dedicated to nothing but internet skanks who have the entire patreon setup of: 'hey give me monthly patronage to see access to my private instagram/cam shows/videos of me jamming a cucumber up my butthole' and they haven't done anything to any of them yet, despite that being a huge no-no in their new code of conduct.

So yeah...it might just blow over in a day or two.

Not just DoD and DMD, there were others as well, i.e. Gumdrop Games (Dual Family) etc.

Honestly, Like someone else said I think the suspended pages were just to prove a point, considering Kaliyo, Lord Arioch, team nimbus etc are still active, this is less about making new guidelines and more about targeting the most blatant offenders to prove a point.
