I see another human of culture apparently.

It would be also nice to see lore used in situations, like Lucio and MC fucking to some party music. Or MC using a sleep dart on Ana. Muah haha!

D’Va VR sex. Moira experimentation. Ameile/Widow being super flexible in situations. Ooooo weeee! “Justice reigns from above!” then you beat it up piledriver style.:devilish:

You know why there are so many games? Too many ideas because ABK keeps it all pg13 lol

I don't want to give too much away at this stage (especially since I'm still not 100% sure which characters will have adult content in the first release and which will come later), but I will say that I'm very much in sync with you when it comes to mixing lore in with the lewd stuff. Let's call it the Lore'N'Lewd approach, haha.

So while I want to keep some stuff as a surprise I'll give you some spoilers;

Quick straw poll - do you guys like stats in your games/VNs?

I've been writing the game so far with a fairly simple binary stat system; basically allowing you to accrue 'hero' and 'villain' points based on certain moral choices you make.

I'm toying with whether or not to expand them into personality/physical stats too; charm, willpower, lust, etc or if that's going too much into dating sim territory.

I like them, but be careful though. The more stats/branches you have, the more complex your VN will be. I know this because I deal with them on my sandbox. And it would be useful to have a screen to show these stats so players know what the fuck are doing, and the gain/loss for each decision in the game.

Yes, but that's because I prefer simulation games over purely story-based VNs.
As the player I want to write my own story. (Unless, of course, the story is really good and has interesting characters).

Also, Rafster's comment is on point.

Yeah, that's my thinking too. If I do add some personality stats I won't do more than three (in addition to the base hero/villain points). I don't want to bite off more than I can chew with my first game, but equally I want to be able to bake some replayability into it. Three feels like a good number that can give the player some complexity to the game while still being achievable for a first time dev.

This will definitely be closer to a VN than a simulation game (no plans for an overworld/hub, etc) which is why I feel like stat-based choices are a good way to include more player interaction in lieu of sandbox exploration. I deliberately avoided a sandbox-style game in my design notes because it strikes me as infinitely more complex to keep all the moving parts behaving well with each other.

You did well. Honestly, I went to the sandbox route because, well, my game is only Real Porn and HTML, so making the infraestructure and coding is possible, and my favorite genre are HTML sandboxes. Hell, I started a year ago and I'm still far from a proper game to be released here.

But if I started with ren'py, sandbox would be too much. Learning coding on ren'py, modeling and posing in daz...my poor potato PC would explode along my brain.

If you want replayability in the game just make it so that depending on what stat you choose, you get sex scenes with one side, while closing your chances with the other. So that the player has to play the game at least twice to see all the content (or add a GalleryUnlocker mod/code). I don't think you have to make more complicated than that, always remember, your first project will always be crap, you can only hope that is not too crappy and try to fix your mistakes and build on its foundation in your second project.

Regarding the tags, i think you should have a clear idea what you are gonna do with each character and that, this intentions are obvious to the player as soon as they meet them.

on another small note, please add pubic hair to the girls :'c, i'm so sad that most games have next to no pubic hair, not even one tiny hair, even on older characters. But this is just my preference tbh.

Yeah that's the general idea for the stats, using them as gateways for certain scenes. Main story will have the same beats, but certain subplots/character routes will get locked/unlocked based on your stat choices. e.g. to go the corruption route for a certain character, you'll need to build up some villain points, etc.

Regarding the tags, i think you should have a clear idea what you are gonna do with each character and that, this intentions are obvious to the player as soon as they meet them.
The great thing about having such a wide range of characters to choose from is I can pretty much include any tag I wish. There's already some early-story choices for the player to define if they want to include Bi/Gay content in their run, for example. I was going to include a similar flag for something that was kinda-but-not-really-NTR but I've decided not to include that (at least for the first release)

Another benefit of a large cast is a large variety of preferences when it comes to their personal appearances ;) There will be multiple female characters who meet your criteria, worry not!

I've updated the preview pics in the OP - they're the same scenes/screenshots as before, but with updated art. I overhauled all the assets this weekend to fit a new scale and while I was at it found a way to make the shading on certain colors (particularly black) look a lot better. Comparison between old and new attached to this post; it's nothing major, but adds a little more polish to the art.

Maybe it's against lore..but who cares, you give some m/m action with reinhardt and I'll be happy even if it's only one encounter

Ok, sorry, I'll get back to my corner
I mean, never say never but in the interest of full disclosure Reinhardt won't be having any content like that in the first release (I have to stop myself from constantly adding to the list of things to include in the first chapter if I ever plan to get this finished haha)

Heh, I know that better than anyone else, but you can't blame me for trying :ROFLMAO:

Just..tread carefully with tags like gay, or ntr (if you decide to open that can of worms), and be upfront on your first post about how much content is, and remind them that its optional before people start running to the hills.

Good advice, and that's what I plan to do. It'll be signposted in the OP of the release thread, but also the game itself will be really on-the-nose about letting the player enable/disable that content early on.

The male OC in that screenshot with Widowmaker, Leroy, in addition to his role in the story will also serve as a means for enabling or disabling the Bi/Gay optional content at the beginning of the game.

Players will be able to define MC's thoughts on Leroy pretty early with a menu choice that essentially boils down to a) "He's hot, and I'm interested", b) "I like guys, but he's not my type" or c) "I'm not into guys, we're just friends.". The first two will enable the Bi/Gay content (with or without Leroy as an option), and the latter will disable it.

Subtle? Not even a little, but hopefully effective.

I'm not a find of the artstyle, but that's just me, I'm a sucker for hand drown 2D. It's good enough that I could deal with it. And I love Overwatch porn, so it won't prevent me from playing the game.

I love stuff that makes people mad online, like ntr, corruption, incest, monsters. The more I see it in a game, the more I like it. It's not mandatory though, just a bonus. Make it optional or not, it's up to you. But I agree with the sentiment shared here, making it optional with either an in-game prompt or a menu setting is probably the best option. I guess it would be the same thing for gay/bi or any "controversial" content. (It felt really weird to mark gay/bi as controversial). And I think you should take it a step further and have the game say, really clearly, what it does, in a confirmation box after the first choice.
For example in your proposition, after selecting any choice there is text saying "You are going to enable/disable gay content. If you continue your character will/will not have sex with men. Do you wish to continue?" Yes/No, etc.
It may seem too much or disruptive or whatever, but when you work in programming long enough, you begin to understand how clueless and clumsy and unaware some users can be.

For stuff like body hair, I don't really know. It's true that in the majority of pornography everyone and everything is completely shaved, especially women and female characters. At that point I don't know if I really like shaved body, or if it has been forced on me from years on exposition to pornography.
Anyway. I like variety. Maybe some characters with, some characters without? Depending on what you feel would correspond to their personnality, or maybe just aesthetically.
For the MC I won't mind hair, but option C feels weird to me. It looks like he has patches of very dense hair in just a few spots, and then he is cleaned shaved everywhere else. I don't know how you can make it better. Maybe by adding different "density" of hairs in different regions? It seems to me that pubic hair should one of the more dense region on the body, and that hest hair should be more dense than harm hair. But I'm not a hairy guy myself, and I'm definitely not a connoisseur of male body hair.

And for the stats, I prefer when it's a bit on the background. I like porn games where they're lights on gameplay, and more focused on the story, branching, characters, and obviously art. I really don't like when porn games ask you to grind stats in one form or an other, it just destroys the flow. I like what Eva Kiss does with her games. Some choices improves a stat, but you know it after you selected it. And then you have a menu where you can see your current stats. So it helps with managing the branching, and I guess creating a more interesting story, but as the player you have no extra burden to remember any of it, or consciously manage it. It justs "happens" and you don't see really how it works.

Anyways, good luck my man, especially since it's your first project. Take care.

I'm with you that bi/gay content isn't "controversial" in my mind, but I know the reality is it doesn't work that way on the Internet so I gotta signpost that shit in case people feel they've been "ambushed". I'll give serious consideration to really hammering home the point with that out-of-game confirmation box idea too. Probably for the best.

Agreed 100%. Variety is definitely the name of the game in my approach to this. Some characters will have more/less body hair than others, just as some of them will have more/less niche kink content. And personality is going to inform that as much as aesthetics (as per my previous post talking about mixing lore with the lewd).

I appreciate the good vibes, thanks! And it's funny you mention EvaKiss - her games are a big influence and are really stand-out gems on this site for me. If you like Our Red String, for example, then you should get a kick out of my final vision for Overfoxed.

Here's a preview of our MC in all his glory - but I'm undecided on his manscaping routine.

Which look do you guys prefer? The Smooth Adonis, the Middle-of-the-Road or the Wannabe Grizzly?
Picture A and B, or you could let us design the character to choose in the game? Idk.

Otherwise I love the cel shaded art style, it's very heavy Borerdlands-esque of a vibe, this might be a big game I'm looking forward to besides playing Academy34.

Haven't really played much Overwatch but when it came out in 2016 on a friend's laptop for fun lol. Time flies haha

Glad to hear you guys are digging the look. I'll have more to show soon - I'm currently putting character previews on the Patreon page, but I'll share some stuff here too since it's still early days.

I am looking forward for the first release. Am I missing the date? :)
No launch date yet, I want to make sure the first release is as polished as possible.
