Oh how I regret not using Honey Select/Daz :FeelsBadMan:.

Thankfully the textures and deformers for the penis is relatively independent (basically making the adjustment + compiling a new video would take 5-10m vs 30m+ if I were to work on--say the arm). I always thought the monster penis in a game like Superpowered was kinda silly, but scaling it 1.25x would probably look fine. Lemme see what I can do tonight.

Anyhow, thanks for the feedback as always.
Hand drawn is way better. It makes it actual feel like YOU worked on it, not just fixed a few poses in a CGI thing for easy Patreon money. I have enjoyed some of those visual novels but they're a dime a dozen and they're always so linear. Summertime Saga wouldn't be as big as it is if it was just a bunch of renders.

Plus, you know, drawing is hard so you're cooler if you can do it.

Unfortunately I don't really know how to advertise (or have much time to spare with solo dev and IRL). I was hoping for "word of mouth" to pick up traction, but so far I'm still going through the same routine of trying to generate interest. The patron count (~9) is one thing, but it's tough when my follower count's (~135) remained the same for all of 6 months (granted I have to lock everything interesting behind paywalls due to Patreon rules).

Onto more positive news, I finished Charlotte's level 3! Probably won't see much change outside of Live2D Animator work (so no meshes) as the entire animation has 49 layers in total. So, so tired -.-.

The Mac version errors out when you try to save - this even occurs when I copy the game files over to Renpy and run it in the developer mode. Looks like an issue in the code itself; never seen a save issue like that before - you must be doing something non-standard there as it throws an error with a dump file.

Hey all,
Unfortunately, these posts can no longer be too screenshot-heavy (sfw reasons), so hopefully you can bear with the wall of text.

IRL, I'm in the process of moving for a new job so my work computer isn't available and I'll probably need a week to settle. Nevertheless, work has been moving along slowly, so here's a summary of where I'm at.



Art - Completed.

Writing - Mostly Completed.

Since I've been coding sporadically throughout the entire month, I think I should reasonably be able to have 0.5.0 out by this month's end. Again apologies for the longer dev time, so much influx of changes lately that finding time for this project proved challenging.

At any rate, here are the new content & major changes.

  • 4 new animated scenes. Totaling 12 (+ 1 introductory dream sequence).
  • New group search mechanic. You can ask an NPC at night to join you the next day in an area for various rewards. In the future, I'm using this mechanic to introduce non-canon events *(see below)*.
  • Removal of the 5 ratings - the scores were originally intended for a way to calculate for multiple endings, but it ended up being a bit more excessive than originally planned. You now will simply be measured by two factors to determine whether you want to stay or leave the island.
  • Integrating HUB into heroine routes - so pacing between nfsw scenes isn't ideal. Events are meant to be unique; however, because of the story structuring, you end up having to do a lot of character routes (side characters have no nsfw scenes) and the scenes end up being few and far between. The HUB events will now directly be tied into level up events and a means to having repeatable scenes.
  • More random daily events - Currently there's a notification of NPC sleeping poorly. 0.5.0 will expand on this with some character-specific effects and weather-related effects.
  • Additional story, character, and expedition events.
* So one of my patrons was hoping for some Meryl content ( ). Given that the patron count is pretty small, I actually did want to work in unique scenes suggested by the supporters, but haven't found a good way to implement it. Enter group search! Tentative idea is to have you and Meryl discover a vine bikini on a search and have your imagination take over from there (essentially a non-canon dream scene).

Anyhow, that's a lot for you all to digest. Hopefully it's interesting enough. I promise to resume work as soon as I can.

Don't switch to DAZ the graphics in your game are awesome, my complains are with the mechanics, i can only enjoy this game while using developer mode for cheats, otherwise it's too complex and grindy for me, maybe simplify it or enable some cheat menu in-game, also if i may, i'd suggest more clarity to the quest/relationship tracker, it's easy to forget what i should be doing (fruit/plant/building,etc missions), especially since there's no walkthrough or interface that properly shows what i'm missing, also while not a big deal, the map to switch areas it's' too small and can be a pain to switch locations at times, with all said, i like your game and your characters and i intend to keep an eye on it, that's my feedback, feel free to disregard it, i wish you and your game the best.​

I remember having a quick look at a very early build and this is *so* much better! If I weren't opposed to install payments I'd be joining your patreons, maybe something like a ko-fi link ( ) in your sig could at least get a few more coins your way?
From what I could gather from this thread you're busy and you're barely around, so it might not be that helpful, but hey :)
As for the mechanics in the current build: I just finished Island Fever on the last day on my first try, so I'd say, not nearly as bad as it sounded like from some of the early post. It was a little confusing as to how tackle things and I only fairly late understood what to do, but I guess I'm experienced enough with survival simulators and the like to still make it in time.
What surprised me were the loading times, way longer than expected but I guess there are a ton of variables to load. Otherwise it ran fairly smoothly and only with hunting I had exceptions, but those could be ignored away.

The graphics are a mixed bag but they do look well drawn for the most parts, so compliments there and the general aesthetic is pleasant. I imagine the animations were a pita, but even 3-frame ones are good to have, and you went beyond that. My favorite tune was the one you used for foraging by the way, that you included music and sound effects is also noted and appreciated. It's getting more common these days but it's still not something you can expect, especially from a first timer.
Just leaves the story and writing I guess:
I can't stand timers but they work well enough. Generally the story is alright, being shipwrecked is nothing new but it's not your typical come together sex-island so many others employ. And although it seems to get more tropy the longer it goes it doesn't feel like it's an empty island sex simulator. Besides, it's always good to see sentences that go beyond porn dialogs too, so thanks for that.
The pacing seems somewhat off but you might have improved that with the current build.
Overall: Impressive job for a first timer! Especially considering you sadly didn't get a big following.

In any case, fingers crossed for Lovely Sails if you're continuing it, and if not that life and projects work out better next time! :)

I generally dislike the 'pay per update' model, but with how infrequent updates are it's the only way that makes sense. Have an extra dollar, though it's really just to increase the Patron count.

Hi all,

I've responded privately to some messages on Patreon, but it's mostly just an irl change prohibiting me from being able to continue. The TLDR version of it was starting a new job @ 12 hours/4 days week + split-living in two cities. I enjoy the work and pay is well, but alas I have way less free time than I would like :(...

To your statement @Game Reviewer, the monetary support wasn't really discouraging since it's always been a hobby. I guess the lack of a following was definitely discouraging. Less followers = less people to provide feedback = less polished mechanics and balance. I tried doing the anonymous voting on Patreon, but there wasn't enough traffic to have any meaningful result.

I spoke with @Retro about keeping the game On Hold, because I still do have the itch to continue working...it's just the issue of time :cry:.

Anyhow, here is the next iteration of the Hub events (minus stat implementation).

(An intro where you'd have a few random conversation choices to increase heroine mood)
(The actual hub with interactables, the idea was to have conditional switches based on heroine mood, level, clothing)

Not sure when the project will be revived on Patreon, but I'm slowly creeping there.
