yes, there is an MTL, but it's trashy and it breaks the game combat

well, what is happening is that the autro-translation toll is translating a bit too much, and by a bit too much I mean that it translated probably the name of the maps or maybe even the name of the enemies, and because of that the game broke, because it was programmed to follow the scrip with it's japaneses names, but as the names aren't in japanese anymore, the game can't acknowledge their existence, and because of that the game combat doesn't works correctly
