boo, i shoulda read ahead before downloading this paywall shite, seen loadsa games behind paywalls, never a mod tho, wasn't gonna bother with 0.5.3 as there wasn't that much more than in 0.5.1, but noticed this mod so went ahead with the 2.5GB+ download, which failed twice, Mega having an off day, followed by the 140MB+ for the mod only to discover it's just a fecking demo of a mod, again boooo. It should state clearly in HUGE red letters that this is only a demo of a mod right above the download link.

It's a mod for a game (someone else's game) that is itself, not even finished yet.
Not wanting to pay out for that (especially when the game itself is freely available) is pretty understandable.
Don't get me wrong, it's a pretty high quality mod, but paying for an unfinished game is already on my 'never again' list, and paid mods have always been on the same list (As an aside, fuck Bethesda) so a paid mod for an unfinished game was a no-go from day one.
As an aside to that, this IS a piracy site. People ask for and post free links to things all the damn time.
I mean, I wouldn't be ballsy enough to ask for a free link in the modmaker's thread myself, but asking money for a mod to someone else's game is pretty shameless in and of itself, so turnabout is fair play, I suppose.
At least that one is the actual developer's patreon, so your money would be going to the person who actually made the product.
All of the new scenes are available in the mod along with most of the walkthrough, so honestly you're only missing like 25% of the mod.
I did all of the work for the walkthrough myself, and didn't have to give it to the developer (Runey). But since Runey and I are friends I let him use it as a reward on his patreon to help encourage people to donate to him. So that's why the text walkthrough is patreon only.
... That's not really what I was getting at.
A text walkthrough isn't worth becoming a patreon for.
On the other hand, Runey's patreon page is potentially deserving of patreonage on it's own merits, because he actually made the game itself. In that case, then walkthrough on top of that would just be a freebie.
So because he made something himself, he is deserving of patronage, but even though I made something myself, I'm not? You're contradicting yourself. And while you don't think a walkthrough is worth becoming a patron, lots of people have pledged to him for the walkthrough I wrote, so not everyone thinks the same.

Yes, I just didn't realize the one I'd shared had since gone out of date - I share the Nice Things when my attention is called to it, but it's not something I actively pay attention to. Lain edits old posts rather than make new ones, which makes things a little tricky to quickly check for updates.Anyone has a link on the full version?
Also, seriously people: stop bitching at Lain. Your choices are "Lain makes walkthroughs for money," and "Lain doesn't make walkthroughs at all." There is no "Lain makes walkthroughs for free," option here. Whining and complaining about Lain's business practices just makes me less inclined to share the Nice Things.

If the mod wasn't free, then how did you even download it? My point is that 75% of the mod is free and adds 25 minutes of new scenes/content, and you're having a mental breakdown over the 25% that isn't available. And I guess you don't even remember the own things you told me.

Agreed. While people are entitled to their own opinions, and they have the freedom to express those opinions here, you would expect those opinions to be expressed in an adult manner. Sadly, this has not been the case. If people don't like the way Lain does his walkthroughs, they can always write their own.
