Guys. You should really chill out. There's no accounting for tastes. Some pplz like DOD more than Dual Family and others prefer the latter. There are no prizes and no rewards for whoever thinks has the strongest arguments (or dick). Peace.
Agreed. Each individual plays what they want to play. Let's not hate but let's spread lovee.

Dreams of Desire is popular because it has more than 10 minutes of content and releases on time.
No, because if i skip all text then it may will be 5 minutes or so too. I'm not even tried. Besides, there is free roaming and other "quests". So it's more difficult to skip in this sense. DoD's updates is usually pretty small, except there is always more "action" of course. But why i need to just watch action, if i can read good quality text? It's visual novel most of all. "Don't like tease"? Okay. "Releases not on time"? I'm not a drama queen, so it's not really a problem. Less bugs and mistakes is always welcome.

Now, STOP guys ! Read this :

And take a breath !

I just read a heap of stupid things about the contents of Dual Family and comparison about 2, 3, 4 games... Seriously, Is this what it's come to ? We speak as kids, now ? Wow, what a constructive discussion : The wither 3 is better than Skyrim, Dreams of Desire better than Dual Family... that wasn't going anywhere. You have the right to not like a game but, don't think that YOUR point of view (or YOUR preference) is the true truth.

And where is this hostility coming from about the developer ? If there is a thing of which we can be certain : that kind of attitude doesn't have a place in f95zone because it's a forum for ADULT games. We remember to behave as adult. We can laugh, have fun but don't get too caught up in it all.

Everything "bad" about this game is only in your head and some of other haters. You're the one who is fanboy, because it's you who opened this page and start to lick Lewdlab's and other dude's ass. I'm not even defending anything, i just can't see your "facts" and arguments. All this bullshit like "story = bunch of sex". It's not even new, you're 1000th person who comment this, that we all are "stupid sheeps", and only you seeing the truth, you're our angel. Thanks for opening my eyes and telling me the truth about this game. I never even knew anything about this.

I can say one more thing... is that IF i ever comment some hateful stuff in DoD's thread or any other thread, bunch of your idiotic friends will attack me immediately. That's what happened many times, and that's what i seen happening with others. But when someone defending something YOU hate, then of course i'm a "dumbass", because somehow i can't see all "shit" in this game.
It's became painfully apparent that you're Gumdrops account.

It's ok, I would be mad as well if a game existed that was better than mine in literally every way. Stay mad

Don't worry Gumdrop, we can wait. In return, the girls will never work in the porn industry, and they will never be abducted by boring black monsters.

Hi Guys!

Please take a milkshake, chill and relax! It is not the end of the world and no reason to attack persons.
That said, i like this game. It has a nice story (if crawlingly slow on progress) and good renders. I look forward to new stuff for it.

I think I mentioned it in an earlier post that I am a hobby writer myself. For several reasons, not the least my normal job, I have few writing time, so I know how problematic deadlines can be. But I truly understand some of the "annoyed Ones" :) here on one thing exactly because I write myself. Blowing annouced deadlines repeatedly really gets old fast!

Gumdrop, if you read this, a humble tipp from writer to writer (even if in different media): When you annouce a deadline yourself, have the update up at that time, no matter what, especially when you are paid for it. Other thing is not to set deadlines you cannot make. Nothing erodes the audience´s goodwill faster than blowing deadlines repeatedly. Once or twice with a good reason, no problem, but in your case, nearly every update date fubared is a no-no. The high annoyance level in this thread shows that the people care about your project, which is good since it shows the quality of DF, but you are really risking support with this.

TLDR; Lesson: underpromise and overdeliver!

The problem is the frequency that this happens at.

He said he left his job so that he could better deliver each new version and so far, that remains to be seen. Couple that with the inevitability that this update is nothing more than 5-10 minutes of added content (like every mediocre update he has made) and there's no wonder why people grow frustrated.

I like the developer, I like his approach (focus on build up), I like his 3D renders, I like his game. What I don't like, are his updates and frequent incompetence. In a time when games like these are in an abundance, when games like Dreams of Desire, Big Brother etc exist, games with far more content and games that almost always meet their deadline (and in my opinion, at a higher quality), then that just makes it harder for your game to shine.

Missing deadlines, pointless remasters and lackluster updates are not a good way to stand out from the crowd and people constantly refusing to criticise the developer only further hinder his progress.

I could end up eating crow for this post and this update might end up fantasic (frankly, I hope I am wrong), but until I see it, it's hard to believe it given the developers track record.

Um, did he not say that the game would be up by 3 AM PST? Has there been another change? Hope that does not mean a bigger problem than the one he said he encountered. Certainly, these failures to meet self-imposed deadlines don't exactly contribute to build a great reputation in terms of professionality. On the bright side, I always prefer a game that comes out late but comes without bugs to one that is released on time and crashes every 5 minutes.

Sadly a late release doesn't gurantee a bug free release, but let's hope for the best. I'm confused too about the new release date, it was hours ago, I wonder what his patrons think.
Evil tongues would say he's delaying the update on purpose so august pledges don't count, but I'm not. Peace

Honestly regardless of opinion of the game itself I think the issue here is that month after month it seems, he's shown he just really fucking sucks at the coding part and such and doesn't really know what he's doing in the behind the scenes logistical side of making the games.

Guy might want to go the darkcookie route and hire some people to help him or something.

Guys calm down. So far it looks like everyone complaining is not even a patreon of his so sit tight and wait for the pirated copy. He is still having a variable issue. This stuff takes time and not everyone is a coding expert so chill.

Yeah, I know. But, since he said the delay was due to a problem he encountered while testing the game, well, I was trying to be positive.

Anyway, when something like this happens —and it is not exactly something new in these Patreon games—, conspiracy theories begin spawning. It's becoming a bit of cliché. Not that I am going to contribute myself. Let's hope it's here soon and can finally judge whether this update lives up to its expectations.

Lol @ all the people arguing about who writes a good "story" in these porn games. Almost all porn games are 5th grade story writing at best. The only exceptions would be Japanese VN/eroge companies... you know, actual professionals.

*****************************************************************************************

Now, aside from that, this creator needs a better release system. When you give a date and then miss it (constantly), you're going to disappoint a lot of people. It seems to me he plans his release date and does bug testing the day of. How else does he constantly find bugs on release day? He should stop adding content a few days sooner than what he normally does to give himself sufficient time to stamp out all bugs and avoid all this mess of complainers. I'm a pirate (btw we need a pirate emote) so I'm not gonna complain about releases just a suggestion on how to improve.
