LMAO! What on earth is the purpose of this "debate" about how well the storylines in these VN's are written?
Without the included graphics which are ultimately there to depict explicit sex scenes (or at least lead up to them), ALL the storylines as written would be "junk" if they were intended to be sold as a word-only novel. You will find the same kinds of discrepancies on text-only erotic sites like Literotica between various authors there. Some authors are skilled at developing characters, some aren't, and the dialogs used by characters (if it is even included in the story) can range from outstanding to "NOBODY talks like this in real life!" criticism.
I'm reminded of storylines and the accompanying character development and narratives included in things like the Star Trek and Star Wars TV and movie episodes. The authors of these epics used the storylines to describe an analogy of the Human Condition. Every episode of the original Star Trek series was an analogy of something like racism, prejudice, discrimination, fanaticism, religious beliefs, and a plethora of others. Star Wars was not about flying through space with Wookies...it was about the historical facism that happened in humanity. The authors of these stories were outstanding at what they represented and how they did it.
But it was all lost on MANY (most?) of the viewers of these stories. They watched a weekly "science fiction" story and got so wrapped up in the "fiction" that they started attending conventions dressed as the characters they wished they could be. There's no accounting for some people's human nature.
The "games" we come here for...adult oriented sexual fantasies...are never going to win Pulitzer prizes for their "literary content" or writing skills. No one the quality of William Shakespeare is authoring them. I don't expect to find anything in these VN's that would be world record award quality for writing or authoring. Anybody who is capable of authoring a successful written story like something that would end up on the New York Times Best Seller List could tear ALL of these VN's apart with realistic criticism about the writing content of them.
C'mon. The people like me who are here as CONSUMERS of these games aren't here because we are looking for a Shakespeare quality product. And I'm over 60-years old, so if that makes me "perverted" because I read DMD (not to mention looking at the graphics content of it too...shame on me!!! ), it's no more perverted than watching Game of Thrones for the sex scenes in it (admit it...that's why many of us DO watch GOT...and why HBO keeps showing it...it SELLS).
To me, this whole "debate" here is like going to a Star Trek or Star Wars convention and trying to convince someone dressed up as Captain Kirk or Mr. Spock or the Wookie to try to "better understand" the storyline and what it is REALLY trying to say. It ain't gonna work. They won't care. They aren't there because they think the story writing and charachter dialog is Award Winning quality. You'd have more success selling them a Captain Kirk figurine and poster for $50. Throw in a Light Sabre for $50 more and they'll be ecstatic.
And if you could get Princess Leia to show up naked, you'd be golden. Heck, I might even go then.
