VN Ren'Py Rebirth [Ep.5 Update 12] [LikesBlondes]

this update is bugged nonetheless. I started a fresh ep 4 playthrough and the game just throws me out BEFORE the raid :

Carmen : "Understood"
"You gather the rest and start heading towards the cave"
aaaaaand... out to the main menu screen.

Are they actually planning a major route split here? I thought it would have been much more likely that they would just relegate Laurie to non-essential character. She pretty much was already doing nothing in the plot.

Looking at the code, there is no flag set for Laurie dying. The game is just using 2 separate script files. It's using labels to point towards 2 separate story paths. MC is going to the same locations so far but with different accompanying characters. Sharon's character development is quite different in the 2 routes. This leads me to believe we have a major route split. If it was something minor, if-else coding with some flag would have sufficed (like Carmen and Astrid).

Granted, they can create a flag later and then merge the 2 routes, but we will have to see. I wonder if they will keep doing alternating updates from here on... Not sure how I feel about that.

I just wonder why Laurie had to become a childe of Sharon...? It's so weird. It makes Sharon into some kinda mommy whose attention is entirely on Laurie. Laurie's allegience will go to Sharon. So what was the whole fucking point of trying to thrall her with MC's blood and the Slave vs Lover variable for Laurie? It's almost like MC lost influence with 2 characters lol. And if she dies, there was literally no pay off for any of Laurie's plot. We didn't even bang her lol. That said, I like how the story is playing out after she dies much more than the other route.

On another note, why can't we just thrall Carmen or something? Makes no sense. I didn't do the romance with her because it seemed stupid. We are constantly worrying whether Carmen would betray us and have to resort to blackmail to keep her in line. Just thrall her already jeez...

If this is correct, then what is the actual use of this update? It seems to me to be a rather waste of time and effort, no real new content, nothing!

Earlier in the threads it was discussed that the splits will remerge latter in the game. As for Laurie living or dying could come down to whether or not you will be successful against the twins... Another capable fighter may stem the tide. I don't know, What I do know from tracking this game from the beginning is that the Dev's up to this point have done well for the narrative I can't think that they are going to "F" it up now.

Earlier in the threads it was discussed that the splits will remerge latter in the game. As for Laurie living or dying could come down to whether or not you will be successful against the twins... Another capable fighter may stem the tide. I don't know, What I do know from tracking this game from the beginning is that the Dev's up to this point have done well for the narrative I can't think that they are going to "F" it up now.

They've done well for the overarching narrative, but the individual character arcs are pretty lacking. Laurie's story getting a major branching, before there's any payoff to her thralling is the prime example.

In case somebody likes it better they could kill Laurie in the actual game henceforth. For Laurie UNDEAD route there is zero content, you could've thrown in a H-scene with new cave girl tharll as a consolation complemantary to alternate route tour. This update is real dissappointment.

o that's whyt it seemed that there was nothing new?? i need tos tart over..i didn't get the whisper power so i didn't see any good sex scene...absurd. if u miss that single scene and don't get the power u can't see anything

I really like the storyline, but feel like the "choices" are having less and less impact in the later updates. Am I missing something? Haven't played Ep4 up4 yet. Hope it is more game and less novel.

2- Fed Calisto/Treat Sharon well- Laurie Lives-Carmen Hate

4- Not Fed Calisto/Treat Sharon well- Laurie Lives-Carmen Hate

All have some implications down the line.

The answer for why they do their updates the way they do is they do this part time and have other "real life" jobs. They have to do this when they can. Also both have other projects they work on as well.

For those who don't do both Laurie paths, there will be a lot of shared scenes in the future so it will not make you "suffer" too much.

Carmen won't be a vamp in this AVN. She will be a thrall though.
We don't need/get to have more than 1 super powered baby vampire running around, and that is us. That is a direct smack down quote from Dev to my own desires to embrace Carmen so we get Team MC some powah.

I am interested in seeing what the guys envision for the two thralls should you choose the path that kills Astrid instead of her running off. When she runs off, her thralls go with her. When eaten, well, I am interested in seeing what happens. Does Laurie take Gregor on as a thrall????? Ms. Olivia.... ?
