I hope you find a good VN that appeals to you, I think I could write a decent story, but have no time to render and code a game (mainly as I would need to learn to do that) I think sometimes devs need writers too.

The Tyrant is quit good if a bit over the top.
Cohabbitation is also quiet nice.

I refuse to play the tyrant for the incorrect NTR tag on there which leads to a lot of people using it as a benchmark for whenever a woman gets fucked in a game by anyone other the MC, they believe it should be classed as NTR.

Actually never followed the thread, One of the games I played Lancaster Boarding House had a scene where a girl called Rose who you may or may not have fucked in a threesome with your girlfriend, fucked a guy she had a crush on some people decided this was NTR as she was a viable option for them. When it was explained it wasn't, they used the Tyrant and yes a guy fucking his wife as an example as why the game needed an NTR tag that it never got as it wasn't needed. It was the worst year for incest games, and generally quality games are developed slower then ever. It has become normal to have 2-3 months or even more between releases. That shouldn't be normal. I don't think that many developers deserve earnings that they have. When you earnings go above 2k, in my opinion you should release something each month. It can happen that something slows you from time to time, but if that time last more then 2 months, you really shouldn't take money from your patrons.

Frankly, to me, it's amazing that mediocre games still have such a huge following even without consistent updates. Take Milfy City: the visuals still are not bad (not top of the line anymore either), but it's a trope fest... For some reason still popular though...

It's simple, part of the community don't look further than the name of the dev and the number of pages of the thread. In the end, they all praise the same games, not because the games are good, but because they don't know what other games looks like. And if someone say the opposite in the thread, I wish him good luck.
I don't blame them, I've been like that myself. In fact we were all like that once ; we all praised Big Brother and Dating my Daughter... But we didn't stay stuck to those games, we looked at what was new, and in the end understood that we were overrating them.

As for Milfy City itself, there's no surprise in its success. There's somewhere, on this section of the forum I guess, a thread that was already praising the game, months before it started. Simply because icstor said that his next game would be on Ren'py.
They were already saying that it will be the best game ever made, before knowing anything about it, why should they change now that the game have had few updates ? Especially since they were already praising him when he was doing walk simulators on RPG Maker.

I don't know what it is about these new "hot" games like deluca family, acting lessons, becoming a rockstar yadayadayada, they all seem like the same boring VN romantic story where everyone is a strong independent female and has a great personality and blablabla when can I trick my mom into sucking my dick?

The same goes for Big Brother, with its great framework, UI and decent renders putting it way ahead of the competition.

For me, the worst year was around 2015, when the entire market was made up of lazy, established bums like Akabur and the Something Unlimited guy, the Russian Akabur "trainer" scam clones and the initial wave of terrible DAZ3D slideshows. And let's not forget the success of Huniepop, a good meme game, but it spawned endless garbage in its wake.

Have you seen what 3D CGs look like when they are done by an artist (A Wife and Mother, City of Broken Dreamers, and few others) ? Milfy City CG looks like if they were made with the help of plastic dolls. Even Dating My Daughter do better.
Have you seen the amazing works of customization made by Hopes in his The DeLuca Family, for the characters to look both differents yet still clearly members of the same family ? And I don't even talk about the CG for the "My Name Is Luna" quest. The way he played with the lighting...

Took me 2 attempts to get through it, never cried at a storyline as much as I did with that one. I got part way through and I just couldn't stop the tears I had to play Borderlands 3 to calm down.

Mass murder cheered me up.

I knew I was soppy and easy to bring to tears but between Luna's childhood story and Katie's from Where it all Began I think I shed more tears in those few days than I ever have over anything else.

Girlfriend gave me a proper funny look when she walked in and i'm bawling. She thought something had happened so I pointed at my monitor and she shook her head and walked back out again.

You missed quite a lot of games, but everyone has different tastes. I am surprised to have not seen Melody on any list, it is actually not a bad game

We still have almost 3 months left in the year. That's still 1/4 of the year. So first of all, it's way too early to make any kind of sweeping declaration about the whole year.
Second of all, you're absolutely wrong. There have been a lot of great new games and updates this year. Overall games collectively have gone up in quality too. Just because a few games you follow didn't update as much as you want, that doesn't make it the "worst" year for the entire adult games community.

If the games you follow aren't updating enough, stop supporting them. More importantly, tell them why you're not supporting them anymore. Then find other games you do like that are active enough for you and support them instead. There are a lot of games that get big and then updates slow to a crawl. Push them to be better. They have enough support that updates should be coming much faster because they have more money than when they started.
