this may be because im in the beta version of the game i got Jin when lin was at 16 relationship/friendship and dont know if that is what causing me not progress through lins other story line
i also have kate 0/2 and lucy 0/2 even though i completed kails content of this update

I'm waiting for the proper release anyway, but even then I'd rather not. In addition to the impression we get of him from his first appearance and from the letter, I've picked up a few things from what others have said of the contest itself; apparently he's a hypocrite who doesn't even obey his own rules regarding elves, taking advantage of the fact that he's the one who gets to decide if an elf is being mistreated or not. That makes it sound like he gave them the rights he did not because he has a conscience, but to try and appease those who do. Not a great sign.
The idea of anything good coming of it seems kind of ridiculous to me; if people had opposed slavery by trying to show slavers the error of their ways in real life, it would still be around. Even accepting that winning the contest would make some kind of difference, you've indicated that the player can also lose, in which case he just dismisses you as a crazy person. Given that, clearly winning the contest and changing his mind is not required for the story going forwards.
When I finished with everything 0.5 had to offer, I picked another game to play. If I'm going to play a game with that sort of content, I'd rather be the one having fun than the one getting humiliated.
I'm surprised so many people do seem to like it; it's such a dreadful departure from the tone of the rest of the game. If being bullied by an asshole was my thing, there are a number of other games I could play.

I'm really not sure if I should continue to drive this conversation forward, but here it goes.
He is not a hypocrite, and he does decide who gets to keep Elves. He has put it into law that you can not abuse a slave, that was his decision. So if you abuse a slave, he/his program takes that Elf away.
To abuse an Elf, one or more of the following must be true. You have beaten her, caused her intentional pain (emotional or physical), or have forced yourself on her.
That's not the full list, so I don't really want to get into a debate over that, too. Cornwall is a man of his word, so actually, he's the opposite of a hypocrite.
Anyway, this topic has dragged on way too much than it needs to.

question about the gold ones: if i've completed all the current version's story events then activate one of those, would it lock me out of any future events from newer updates?
It depends. I don't think you or I are able to tell what friendship you should be at, so you have two options.
1. Restart the game entirely
2. use the maxall code to set every character's friendship to their maximum as of v0.4 (This means you will likely miss out on almost all of the content in the game)
Miss out on all that should be in this update or miss out on all of it period lol

@Runey Is there a way to see how far you've progressed in the story with each girl? Or is it possible to have something pop up on their stat page when you've reached all the content in a given version?
It's been a little while since I played, and I've forgotten where I was. Let me know if this already exists and I don't know where it is.
