Just found out about this game.

I have a weakness for slow corruption western RPGM games, and this one is the "creme de la creme" of its kind.

It's a shame it got abandoned. I wonder why. Lack of support? Health issues?
The developer worked on this game while he was in college as a way of earning some extra cash. Once he graduated, he stopped development. I guess he was able to find a good paying job.

I guess this is partial true. I was a patreon from his page and he never mentioned finishing his graduation. He was still studying and was working in an update that he never released, sadly. He was also posting some screenshots from this update that someone might still have it somewhere.
But he actually stopped the development after I mentioned this forum to him. I was sure he knew it, I mean he was producing his second game already, but he told me he didn't and would check it later. I told him he would find amazing feedback here (at that time and still would to this date), but somehow I think I might fucked up.
One or two days after that he stopped answering and updating his page, coincidence or not. I believe he didn't like what he found here or liked it too much and starting enjoying other people's game more than working on his own.
Well, he would know about here sooner or later anyway.

That's why I still think he's here among us, lurking or pretending to be someone else (could even be you Nerra haha), because after some time he lost the energy to get back to his game, which he could still be sending slow updates even with a good paying job.

he was one of the few devs who had their patreon to not monthly but update subsribtions.

lolguest i dont think you were the reason he stopped everything after finding out about this forum
i mean he just vanished *poof*
and just like that he was gone

i like your idea a lot that he might be among us
that would mean he is ok and healthy
i for myself have this feeling that he is not alright and something happened

Yeah, after a while the feeling that I made a mistake pointing this forum was slowly replaced by the idea he would find here anyway and this could also have nothing to do with the actual reason he vanished.

Like you said, he really vanished. If you go right now to his Patreon account and check his last comments he looked really excited with the game to just throw it all away. But he also deactivated the Valiant Warrior Astrid page not long ago, while GreyInu (The Humbling Experience) still has his page online.
So, I think this indicates he's alive, just lost the willing to work in his game.

Wish this game would come back and the developer finish it. I'd definitely support it through patreon. It's one of my favourites.
i think he's either dead or incapacitated. i was one of his patreons back when he was still working on the game. he was active and always responded to comments/messages then one day he just vanished. he was not burned out or tired, he was very passionate about the game and seemed excited working on it right until the day he was gone.

he also mentioned that he was busy with work/school and was really grateful for patreon because it helped him financially (he said this one week or two before he vanished). however, his patreon was a pay per update, which means he wouldn't have made any money after he stopped, despite depending on it for income. this makes me believe he is no longer here with us.

Should I just learn how to work in rpgmaker and try to recreate this game? It would be hard as I am not an artist and also don't want to step on the old work and go in a direction they never intended.

So there would be no new renders? Not sure how you would continue the game, then. If you are saying you would learn renders anyway, that would be a very uphill battle. Someone like lockhear who is an excellent artist has said before they don't think they get Astrid quite right, although IMO they get pretty damn close. So if you try that, I wish you tons of luck. (You might consider collaborating, if you can find an artist who is skilled enough.)
