Dude what? There's a line between reality and fantasy that you're supposed to be able to differentiate as a "grown ass man". Being attracted is one thing, grooming is a completely different thing. It's the difference between being attracted to women and taking advantage of women with the intention of getting into their pants. And to a mentally vulnerable person, such as a minor? What is clear is that Yandev has always had a lot of haters, which is a good thing for any dev who is as flaky as he is, but becomes a problem when people like you come in and insinuate that him being a massive weeb is proof that he is a Very Bad Man.

You clearly don't know much about abandonware history. YanSim might be an excellent example of an all around shitstorm, but it's no pioneer of abandonware.
For software in general? Definitely, not even close to be the first.
For games which milk patrons for years (here, decades) with a pittance of content (or promise of a pittance) to show between every update? I would say YanDev either pioneered, or perfected this.
to be fair he did release osana... three years late but hey shes there. but like i meant now that the whole hes a pedo thing came to light is he still going to work on the game.

Dejobaan Games. Ugly Baby was first available in 2011. They only recently stopped selling it on Steam. After years of "early access" with no updates or even acknowledgement. Sure, they're not on Patreon (as far as I know), but I reckon neither were the software examples you thought of. But Dejobaan did, and somehow still do, make games.
I'm not arguing against the fact that YanSim is the bigger shitstorm, exponentially so. But it's not the original.

Haven't really follow it for a LOOOOONG time at all, but one of the claims he did was also that once Osana was released, subsequent revivals should be much easier and faster. Which mean that there should be at least a handfull of rivals by now, if that were true, so is that actually the case, or is there still only Osana or what is the situation on that front?
The second rival was only released a week or two ago; he spent the years inbetween being a pedophile, building a "1980s mode" where you play as the protagonist's mother and generally faffing about. He's again claiming that upcoming rivals will be released in a more timely fashion but many of the volunteers that basically did his work for him have bailed after the recent shitstorm, so who knows what will happen.
