Let's make this very simple; if you're giving someone on Patreon money to make something, that's where your involvement stops.
Except of course that it does not work like that. The position you post is the extreme at one end of a spectrum. Yours is (Donation) and the other end is (bought product under customer law)

They apply in varying degree here. The benefits promised for supporter tier is clearly towards the latter (promised goods, money paid) and the creation process is towards the prior (you are not buying the actual end game through patronage).

What is important to realise it that both have recourse for customers in pretty much any western nation in the world.

ex. Even if a pure donation, as your position in fact is, are also subject to recourse, as let's say (purely theoretical) he spent the cash on dope, that would be fraud and give a trip to a place with paid food, mandatory clothing and free bunkbed lodgings in most countries.

Anyways, extremes aside, more practical,

The patreons have a lot of recourse options outside of those formal points, most of which relate to the internet in general.

Most rather sensible choose either to leave, tough it out or take the creator to task over his or her non-performance (complaints) either for postive reasions (to produce a behavior change) or negative (malicious trolling, bad rep to damage it financially)

1. As Nergal is soliciting money for a game. The game he has loosely defined and given estimates for, which is in itself part of the product "sold" and is the package for which the money is solicited.

2. And he is not performing currently (made worse, by not explaning the delay as promised, which is negligent, more so considering it crosses a pay date line)

3. The patreons complain as is their right over his non-performance and worry (as is human to do).

Those not being patreons? well ... this forum is not patreon, so it is their right to voice an opinion postive or negative (as long as a moderator does not decide otherwise)

Not even surprised people still defending nergals lack of transparency with the patreons, these same people defended wootch(previous urban life dev) when he dissapeared hell there where still people funding him a year later and writing comments in the patreon waiting for him.

As for myself I stopped this month supporting nergal he doesnt even have the decency to update us something that literally doesnt take more then 10 to 20 min of your day. Im not giving my hard earned money to a dev that clearly has no respect for his patreons.

Can you stop defending him this hard? Yes, he DOES need to at least explain himself. And do you know why? Because money's on the table. Because he currently has a Patreon open, so while it's all fun and games, at least a very little degree of professionalism should be required when you're getting actual, real money. Yes, he had issues (again), and notified at the very last moment about the delay. Why? Patrons still don't have an answer.

He's not doing voluntary work anymore, that changes as soon as you let people pay you. At least one explanation for the people who are paying him should be the very least. So can you please stop acting like he's a Saint who doesn't owe anyone anything?
NO IT DOES NOT. you are taking the risk of pledging your money it's just like steam early access youy are taking a risk but guess what here you can choose to opt out yet here you all are still fucking complaining NO ONE WANTS YOU HERERERERE

Wow. Like literally wow. So i'm not allowed to complain that Nergal is keeping bulshiting patrons? This is forum and my very post had only one goal. To understand why people still defending him. I mean like why?

Quit feeding the troll and the troll will implode on himself. The more we ignore the angrier he gets. Eventually the mods hopefully will see he is offering nothing and just ban him. Then the cycle will continue as he makes a new account but hey at least he does not win.

What people are failing to realise it that the art for the update isnt complete, nergal just codes the game but when the art isnt complete how can you deliver an update? Glassfish is the one who does the art but you people complain its nergals fault, yes maybe it is for giving deadline in which he cant meet but people should start realizing its not down to nergal. And no im not saying its glassfish fault as she also has a personal life that may have got in the way of completing the art. Its completely counter productive to complain to nergals patreon about it, i dont want nergal to abandon this project, id rather have late updates than never, as for the people who actually fund the patreon, you have the right to complain but try to be understanding a bit.

Honestly I think a lot of the frustration comes from the lack of information. If Nergal has issues in his life or if Glassfish is slowing down on the art would, then either be disappointing but acceptable reasons. The problem is we can only guess because Nergal has not explained it as he said he would. It's been a few days and the lack of transparency is really hurting the case of an acceptable reason. If he can't find the time to write up an explanation then I'm not sure what to think.

In complete fairness to Nergal, it really is a tough job. I've been working on my own, with no pressure to make it great or have people freak out, and no critics, or really anybody that even knows I'm doing it- and I'm still making progress at about the same rate as him.

That all said though, I can only work on it around my day job and other obligations. It seems like if he's counting on his development to pay the bills for him, that's fine, but he's gotta prioritize it like it really is a job at that point instead of just a hobby.

An anon on Tumblr asked Glass if she knows what's happened to Nergal.

Here's a C&P of her reply:

"
There’s not much I feel comfortable mentioning about the reason for the delay on Urban Demons, without getting too personal. I can say that there are some personal life matters that Nergal is working on right now that haven’t helped. And for now, I think that is the most I can say with respect to his personal issue.

Speaking of Nergal, what I am able to tell you, honestly, is that he wants to do right by all the fans, whether they’re a patreon supporter or no. And I share that feeling. He’s not trying to “milk” anything, despite the recent delays. If anything, I think we put in a lot more stuff in general than maybe your average game. While we could release something a month later with like, one new animation or “scene,” we’ll do multiple, at least. And so it will continue to be.

I know the delay sucks, and I can totally understand the frustration of those whom are supporting us with their hard earned money. I can imagine we have lost a few of you recently, and I’m sorry for that and hope that, in time perhaps, we’ll win you back.

With all that said, rest assured that art and other content are still being made for the game, delay or no delay. And I imagine that the next release will simply incorporate more art as a result. Of course, you can always follow the to keep up to date.

Thanks for chiming in, Anon. No issues with asking anything, at any time. No shame in asking about what’s going on, and of course, it makes sense to want to know whatever you can.

If there are any other questions, I’ll do my best.

For those of you who are supporting us, whether now, or in the past (or future!): Thank you for giving us that support."

So yeah. Nothing to do but wait for official word from Nergal.

But anyone can help me to find a game like Urban Demons? There aren't that many games like that, hard to find them
Try Glassix if you haven't already. It's got a similar corruption theme going on.
Pros: Large game world, lots of girls and scenes, functional stats system, regular updates
Cons: Honey Select models, not the best renders (models, lighting, etc), no animated scenes yet

Can anyone copy paste what GlassFish said? Tumblr safe mode is bullshit and I'm not making an account to read one thing.

I already did. It's the last post on the previous page (511).
Quoting what you said and copying/pasting it to make sure people can see it seen, as you said, it was the last post

Are you able to tell us anything about Nergal's delay? (You can, you can't, you don't want to/don't have the right - those are basically your possible replies without sounding like a jerk - no offense intended!)
