Its not abandoned yet.. He will release 0.8 and then he will abandon it (or rush end it).
The game is abandoned. 0.8 will be released, but the game will not get any more development.

I'm not going into a discussion about this (no matter how much I would like to) but technically he is still "developing" 0.8.
But yeah, this is the right thing to do.

Also, For anyone interested. In 0.7.X (and 0.7 public) we saw some files/things in the files that weren't used in-game. If this is true for 0.8 I might mod/patch them in if their state allows it as a sort of farewell!
And as a sort of farewell to my SmurfyPatch.

Wow... I can't believe it's gonna end.
I can't actually post anything on his patreon anymore because... you know, he blocked/banned me from posting.
But I do have a message for him, although I doubt he'll ever see it here (If anyone would be so kind as to pass on my message for me? ;D)

Very sad to hear this. I hope you can sort everything out and have it all work out in the end. But, you've created some very good games and I think you'll always be remember for the quality of the games you have made!
----
And yes, I do believe that Nergal has always had quality in his games, because even if he had a bit of a mess in one release it would be fixed by the next, which is something even some AAA games don't/can't do!
I did see a note from SmurfyBlue2, was that you?

Sad to see him end, I loved AZL though it definitely got bogged down for me after awhile, still it is a quality game for what it is. No idea what is going on with him, but good luck to him.

Haha, yeah that was me. Created the account just so I could post that! XD

I was never as big of a fan of AZL as I was UD, but I totally agree. And yes, I wish him the best of luck with whatever he has going on and maybe one day he'll return.

the curse of the Wootch strikes again can this damn game ever be completed. Urban life/urban demons so good :teary:
At this point maybe we should just do it ourselves? I could do the making and maybe some of the writing, but I could never do any art. Look at my Avatar, I drew that thing. That's about the best my art gets to without copying existing art.
(PS: No, I'm not serious about this because my study starts early next month. So I don't have time for it *winking-tongue-out-emote-that-doesn't-work*)

This game is cursed I feel that it will never get done at this point but who knows life is full of surprises but I'm not going to lie I feel like this could had been handled a bit better then just leaving, with the money he made,he could had just hired someone to do the rpg maker stuff for him, glass did art and I know another person. Was already doing dialogue and he could just supervise the content until it finished I mean it was at most 2 more updates.

sad. but honestly i start to ingore his progress many months ago. he was too ambitious and making a too slow/struggled progress for all the money he got... it was clear that he will fail at all. :(

i honestly can't understand how people who make it big on patreon can fail their projects. with the money hes making he would hire more/better coders, more/better artists. he could work no his own time and he has 100% control of the story and all future updates.

instead of being stingy with the money you should spend it on making the game, that way money keep on flowing but i guess people are greedy and stupid...

yes, the honour of nergal is that he wasnt a scam like wootch. i dont know the costs of artist, coders and writers... but its really strange that about 5k in a month wasnt enough to hire some.
however, its shows how dubious the whole patreon thing is. :/

Most of the money he made was spent on artwork for those projects. He's pretty close to finishing both of them too. Yes, it's sad that he's dropping them so close to finishing, but he's also been one of the few dev's who was consistent and updated monthly. And when he didn't update, he'd explain why and try to have it out asap.

I agree with him being a bit too ambitious. But he wasn't slow, he released two games monthly. And he could do that because he hired two artists to work on one game each. Yes, he did struggle at some points on each game, but even professional game companies struggle and have to abandon certain things they really wanted to include in a game.

I'm of the opinion that many of those guys who are making big bucks but fail at their projects or are constantly changing from one project to another, are in it just for the money.

However, it should be noted that Nergal was paying for two artists to do the artwork for both his games, and he spent most of his money on them. So he wasn't being stingy at all.

maybe youre right. i'd remember some projects of western companies which did fail painfully.
