Not just that, many people actively can't use a PC anymore outside of the most basic shit. The students I taught ~5 years ago had only used Google Docs and needed step-by-step instructions on how to install MS Office to do their reports, and I'm guessing it's only gotten worse since then.

Very clear DarkCookie is taking his Patreons for a ride and isn't going to be releasing new content until more flake off, any maybe not even than, and is only doing this because people are pissed and this forum labeled the game abandoned.
I think the real problem with the whole thing is the lack of transparency behind the obvious difficulties the team faced in the tech update's development, as well as the decision to lump the content remakes in with it. It has given the perception of scummy-ness, when I don't think its the case. To me it just sounds like they ran into trouble early on, had to restart(maybe a couple of times), and decided to lump the remakes in with it, either as a reward to patrons for the much longer than anticipated wait or because it simply makes more sense to do it now. Then they just for some reason decided not to mention it to anyone until they bitched. If they would have just said it all from the beginning not near as many people would be upset.

The devil is in the details. It's not a fraud on a legal standpoint because he gets the money exactly as advertised. He isn't selling DVDs that supposedly protect/cure you of COVID when watched (yes that really happened).
