obviously i can't say fully without playing, but at the very least the CGs were changed from detailed pixel art in the Japanese version to sorta faux painted art in the English version. tbh I prefer how the pixel art looked

They are subweapons. If you press up and attack, you can use a special move in exchange for some coins.

Looked for non RPGM and Renpy Succubus games and found this, plays very nice with gamepad.
Sadly the options are japanese even on english client.

I'm glad you found your way to Libra Heart's games. It's been a long time since I've played this one but I am guessing that was an oversight since this is their first game. If you liked this one, I highly suggest giving Succubus and the Six Spells a play:

Yep, already finished Succubus and will jump to the other games.
The other games are on steam, maybe I will grab them there.

Just so you know, the only difference between the ENG and JAP exe files in the archive is the style of the CGs. JAP contains the original art, while ENG contains the "americanized" style. The text appears to be the same.

Edit: Ok, there are exactly three places in the game with absolutely useless text, but since the english translation doesn't mean anything anyway, you really don't lose much.
