Haha, I wouldn't sweat the details. Of course it would be cool if you came up with an explanation for it. It is fiction after all.. I think the other elements of the game take more priority over the scientific detail as to why this form of genetic development is possible in your universe. Just my take.
Totally. The first creative decision I made on this project was to write it as a pure fantasy. That said, the scenes that have generally been the most fun to write tend to have the most pseudo-scientific gobbledygook.

Ugh, that stupid interrogation chamber set took me like a week to build, and I ended up cutting most of that whole scene out. I'm gonna have to do more with it in Part II.

Ha, yup, that's basically the style for Part I. I wouldn't pay too much attention, honestly, 'cause it's all just satire.

So, I've actually got a lot of this VN already written (been writing it for about a year now), and each part is a parody of a genre.

This first part was largely David Lynch/Terry Gilliam-inspired, and was definitely the hardest to write 'cause I suck at surrealism. The second part is very unambiguously a Scooby Doo mystery parody, and the third part introduces MC (male or female, player choice), and collapses into a standard Harem VN for a while. Eventually it shifts to a fantasy setting.

Each part also focuses on a different character. Part I's focus is Melody, obviously. Part II's gonna be Esther.

Hope everyone enjoys it, and let me know if there's anything specific you'd like to see done in future bits. The story's mostly written, but I'm always shuffling stuff around. Thanks for playing!
I very much like the idea

Bingo.

That whole scene was initially written and animated as a shot-for-shot parody of the original, but it came off as too derivative, so I cut most of it and completely rewrote everything that was left in.

I was also originally going to use Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue for that scene, being that it was pretty clearly one of the inspirations for Aquarela Do Brasil, but after running through the scene a few times it really seemed like the second movement of his Concerto in F was the better fit.

Am i the only one who read this as tokuiten and remembered dio's diary 14 phreses?
Gonna have to be honest with you and say I'm not familiar with these, but Lynch and Gilliam were both major influences in 90s Japanese media, so it's probably all water drawn from the same well.

Thanks for checking out the game!

Well. That was ...odd. But not in a bad way. It's a bit jarring with the shift from one pov to another, but I'm assuming that's absolutely intentional and will make more sense further down the line.

The audio and visual play is rather fun and inventive. The way you swap camera angles as characters chat is a creative way of mixing things up.

And hey,

Noice. Not a single comment on the flavor, though? You'd think this would be a pretty surreal deal, but then again, given the general vibe, maybe this is just another tuesday.

Will certainly be watching to see how this takes shape. Best of luck, dev!

Thanks!

I had a lot of fun doing the sound design, and the warning about the game sucking without sound definitely isn't kidding.

The staging/blocking/framing work for the visuals was definitely a great learning experience, but man was it a lot of work. Especially when large sections needed to be redone. Es and MC's chapters settle into a more standard visual formula, and I am really looking forward to not spending the next four months animating them.

The initial draft of the break room scene landed at something like 2,200 words, and while I think most of it was pretty funny, the pacing was awful. I ended up cutting out about two-thirds of it, and the detail of the flavor was lost. It was described, if you're curious, as "like electricity, if it were sweet, sticky, and tasted faintly of cranberries." Maybe I can work that back in for the update.

Glad you enjoyed it!

Four months on the animation in those scenes? Eesh. Talk about a passion project. They do stand out, but I can see how that would wear on a creator.

Though I was curious how long/how much effort that sort of thing took, so that's pretty neat.

The secret is that I'm not very good at this! There was so much software to learn.

It is getting easier, though. The next big step is to nail down a workflow for using Unity to import and animate stuff created in Blender. Then I'll be able to do any stupid thing I'd like, and there are so many stupid things I'd like to do.

Update is out , I'll get the mirrors set up and figure out updating this thread over the next few days.

Update adds about an hour of content in a very different production style from Part I. I actually really enjoyed making this, even with the bonkers amount of coding. It's super satisfying seeing everything come together using mostly the in-game engine, and I felt like I could do a lot more with the animations, cuts, and transitions. Ren'py's 3D stage functionality is pretty sweet.

Just don't use skip, that breaks the shit out of the camera. I'm gonna fix that soon.

I also did a bit of back-end work on Part I, but not too much since I didn't want to break saves.

I'll finish the back-end/bugfix stuff up over the next month and tweak the intro to include glimpses of the final two gameplay styles (classic dating sim for MC/player character and modern 16-bit JRPG for Eva) and do a minor bugfix release sometime in June. After that I'll finish up up Part II with a large hours-long update this summer.

Very happy with how this is shaping up, enjoy.

edit: the mirrors I originally linked were NG, so I'm re-uploading them. Whoops.

What have you done to the gang
What needed to be done.

I mean I'm sure the gang got metaphorically and/or literally raped less here than in Velma -_-
Based on what I've read that show is even more inappropriate than this is, and this is a friggin' sex game.

You're welcome.

Is the futa stuff avoidable?
Not currently, but I'll add the option to skip individual scenes in the future. It'll require some branches and plot considerations, though, which eat development time. Right now I'm focused on advancing the main story.

So in the future only one MC or multiple? I dont have problem with this but just to know.
It's an ensemble cast, so there's no intention to treat any one character as the focal point of the story, per se. However, there will be a player character, or MC, in part III (which starts with the update after this next one.) That'll be a big part, multiple updates long, which'll play like an old-school POV dating sim, with stat progression and day/week cycles. You could certainly consider parts I and II an extended prologue.

Thanks for trying my game, everyone.

That's probably a smart way to do it. Not a fan of trans porn, but a hell of a lot of people are so it's a good business decision to take care of that demographic first.

It's funny, this wasn't even a futa game at all until the 11th hour, really. My original script had the first two parts as like a 30-minute character introduction, then onto MC. Then I added the "penis serum" scene as a joke (which originally didn't even include Myra, it was just Mel, by herself, freaking out), and it kinda snowballed from there. Not sure whether it was smart or not, but I at least hope it was funny.

Cheers.

So it happens but you don't see it? If so, I'm not interested.

Here you have puzzled me. Will that MC be male, female or futa?
