You can just switch back and forth versions, Use 2.7a to edit your character, save at the end of the day and then copy your save for use with 2.7b or tcast's 2.7b mod. < Guessing this what you meant.
Ohh and if you try using a save from 2.7a or 2.7b it won't work for any of the older versions, i tried going back to older versions using a save from 2.7a and it wouldn't even appear in the load menu even though the save was in the proper folder.
I sent a message to tcast seeing if there able to restore the functions of the SPONGEBOB cheat in 2.7b and they said there going to look into it so we'll have to wait and see.

I've got 2.7 (not lettered version) and did a compare of decompiled code. 2.7b is much smaller. For example hero cabinet code in 2.7b is 30k lines of code, while in 2.7 where everything works, its 31.9k lines. so theres a huge chunk of everything deleted by devs(dont know if that was a failed code cleanup attempt or done on purpose by some rage quiting dev). Same goes to other sections.
Sadly, you cant just copy and paste code from 2.7 to 2.7b, since theres thousands of function addresses that are just not same.

So far heres some more fixes i made after last update:
- Bedroom repaired. It still trigger only mfm scenes with default models when you summon someone, but there's no longer situations that dead lock game.
- I removed gym scenes from GH (and add some more appropriate scenes)
- You can now enter Gloryhole room, but it still wont let you do anything (like solo join), only peek menu work
- Some tweaks in reception scenes..
- some minor updates

That's it so far. I spent most of that small time, i dedicated to this game, on research rather then modding.

As for save switch. You can use Minerva sol editor to change version number in save file so it would run on older versions. i did that to transfer saves from 2.7b to 2.3 once

I don't see any kind of copyright info on Patreon or in the game itself. And being as it was produced using Playshapes' free content, is there any legal recourse they could take if someone were to pick up where they left off and continue making the game?

Originally if they are from Playshapes but those that were used were created by Corta, Corta has his character template published, but apart from that there is nothing else, I think it is difficult to continue with what Simbro left and it would be starting all over again.

new things are in a mid stage of modding.
i'm using my free time for it so i have no way speed things up, sorry

AFAIK its only female characters. Males/backgrounds are simbro original.

I don't quite mean to literally pick up where they left off. Take the story and characters and code it properly is more what I mean. Sort of start over, but keep all the plot points, general dialogue, and keep using Playshapes/Corta character palette. I definitely remember people on Patreon/here/LoK discussing the fact that it shouldn't be flash. Unfortunately, I know nothing of writing code. But if someone WERE to take the programming reigns to pick up where the story left off, I could definitely write it.

The issue would be to extract the sprites as those are dynamically built in run-time.
The "story" isn't really hard to continue on.

Which language would you write it in then?

If you mean the story, I could only write it in English. If you mean programming language/platform, I have no clue. Don't know what would be best for the scope the game was intended to take. I do remember people saying the size of the game as is was frankly too much for flash. Considering the trajectory the story was looking to go, it would have easily been three times larger than it is now. I just pray I stumble through a forum and see someone claiming they intend to keep the game going and asking for help with storyboards/ideas. When they were actually being forthcoming and making updates, they did use several of my suggestions for the story and how certain mechanics should work. (though they never did get the mechanics I suggested to either work right or implement them).

It would be really cool if someone keep developing this from the 2.7a or b version but we need original code from developer to see that happening imho. Afaik if we can't reach the main code, and if we try to get it from flash package i think will end up with bunch of code without comments and stuff thus it will be really hard to figure how it works. Because of that, starting from 0 would be a better choice. Main thing is this project earns 1.5k+ even if its abandoned so if somebody is willing to work they will probably get the same amount of money after 3-4 months of work (which i think a good wage for a programmer if you are not living in europe or america). So if there are any volunteers for that job, i will be happy to support (by commenting, ofc. :p).

THAT would be the tricky part. If someone took the current framework and started making the same game and continuing it, I'm fairly sure they could get into SOME kind of trouble. You definitely couldn't take the game as is and start a new Patreon. Marune or someone would eventually find out, and, if they don't have any copyright/legal standing, they could probably at least get your Patreon shut down. To keep the game going with the same story/models/content would probably have to be a labor of love with no compensation. I might liken it to the notion of making custom maps in various games, or making Skyrim/Overwatch porn. No one can really stop you from actually MAKING it, but if you try to capitalize on it, fair bet you'll get shut down.

I would suggest checking out svscomics. Frankly, a google search of the game and version you want should turn up a handful of valid links. Otherwise, I'll upload it to mega tomorrow. I can't right now.

Also, I have no interest in actually MAKING the game myself. I'll give concept and ideas. I'll discuss how certain mechanics should work, etc. But being involved in the actual process of designing and programming the game would ruin my surprise when I play it. I don't want to know everything that's going to happen. I would really just like to be a sounding board for ideas and suggestions. Which makes it all the more difficult to imagine this game going anywhere.

True, maybe someone can try to make this with unity, i mean that probably would be really hard to make but will give this idea a really good quality in the end.

One could argue that since they decided to stop working on the game, it became Abandonware, meaning they can't touch anyone that continues it as long as they don't profit from it.

That's what I was saying. If you tried to sell the game, or subscriptions on some kind of Patreon-style platform, they would most certainly get you shut down if they found out. To that end, as someone pointed out earlier, maybe Marune died? That'd be awful if it's true, even with the animosity we all may feel for him/her, still certainly wouldn't wish death on them. But, if in fact the creator/owner has died, there's certainly not likely to be anyone to find out and lodge any kind of complaint.

Oh my fuck, as I type this, I just now realize that I'm pretty sure I remember a post on the Patreon about having medical issues and being out of comission for some time. At the time, all the patrons brushed it off as a bullshit excuse for not making progress, but holy Hell, what if? I suddenly feel a little less angry about the apparent abandonment.

Aye, as I said, if someone were going to take up the torch, they would surely be best off switching to a different platform. Even if flash wasn't dying, the game was going to be much too big to really be playable with flash. Yet another thing I remember from a post on Patreon near the end there. They themselves admitted the game was getting too bulky for flash and were considering other options.

I didn't thought cause of abandonment is about illness and all that stuff before. Now i feel sad because of the way i thought before.
Hope he/she is doing fine in terms of health.

Sorry, I've been busy. Forgot to post the latest versions. I'll try to check the forum tomorrow and post uploads if I don't find anything.

It is true there was a post where they said that someone on the team was in poor health, but it is not known if Marune or Silikayya, Marune was supposed to be the developer and Silikayya the designer, nobody knows about the two, Corta tried to communicate with them and nobody he answered, they also said that they could not with the pressure and also that he wanted to refactor the game, maybe he decided to start the whole project again but with more calm to avoid problems or trying to use another engine, nobody knows anything, maybe there is a hope or maybe not, if someone wants to make a game silimar or take the bases of this, for the female characters simply have to talk to Corta, and then if they would have to create the masculine and all the ecenarios and that are not equal but similar, the patreon Simbro is still active waiting to happen.
