Hi, I've seen this subject come up recently a couple of times here, so I figured I'd post a poll to get a sense of what people like to play, age-wise.

The ideal depends heavily on the setting. Playing a 45 year old dude in an incest fantasy game would just be stupid and so on. I'll play anything as long as it fits the story really.
College Age/Young adult is probably the sweet spot for most. Not just for porn but pretty much any media where having attractive people matters.

It's a bad question since theres multiples types of games where specific age works best and you're not limited to playing just one game, you can play many games that are different.
Theres few distinct groups that work,
Young teen who starts exploring sexuality eg. naka no riaru, incestual awakening.
The family rapist teen like in big brother and its clones. Age is relevant in that they have mom and siblings living in same house with particular power dynamics.
Generic adult guy, lives independently and goes on adventures, specific age is irrelevant eg. any vanilla game/most games.
Guy who has a wife and children, age is less relevant than social status. Any incest game where you play as father.
I suppose my least favorite is the generic adult guy since it overlaps with lack of originality and vision themes for the games.

In my game, the MC would be in the range of 25-29...but I prefer over 30. Games with teen MCs simply put me off.

It isn't a bad question. Just think of your favorite games and think how old the MCs are and how comfortable you feel with that, there you have your answer.

It's not a question of setting, but of story.
If a 18yo MC have sisters he can bang, it mean that his 45ish years old father have daughters he can fuck. What mean that, while the setting will effectively be "incest fantasy game", the story would be the one of a father fucking his daughters. And precisely it's what should define the age of the MC, the story.
Yet it feel like a poorly thought question.
I have nothing against young MCs, but being 50yo, I can more easily relate with a 40/50yo MC. Not just because of his age, but also in regard of his behavior ; at least when the character is wrote correctly. I, sometimes, find hard to deal with the (relative) futility of young MCs, while the placidity/serenity that a mature MC can have correspond to who I am. It's why I prefer the MC from Midlife crisis, who take what he can, but don't care this much if he can't have it, to some younger MCs who sometimes feel near to breakdown just because a girl is hard to get.
This said, it's more a question of maturity than age. By example, the MC from Harem Hotel is probably under 30, while having the maturity of someone who would be over 30. But there's also cases where it don't really fit. Take the MC from The Intoxicating Flavor by example. I can never really decide if he's too mature for his age, or both totally disillusioned and totally jaded. Yet he have a background that can explain both, what isn't always the case.

It doesn't specify a story, context or situation, I don't see why that would mean it's bad or poorly thought.
For those who drink, do you prefer beer or wine? I'm sure most of you thought that it isn't the same drinking alone and drinking with company, it isn't the same if the company are friends or family, not the same if it's while eating, before or after, not the same if it's day or night, etc. Despite that, I'm sure that 95% is able to think of a general/avegare situation and pick one.
If someone mostly plays or prefer games with an MCs over 30, that his answer. If someone mostly plays or prefer games with MCs under 30, that's his answer. If someone play both, he can think what he prefers and what fits him the most. It's a simple question overall. People can vote up to three options in the polls, it doesn't require too much thought.

B) Of at least average height. At a very minimum, the same height as the women in the game. Ideally several inches taller than most of them.
C) In good shape. Doesn't need to look like a super hero, just not so thin that its strange or distracting.
Games that feature a really small, young looking MC are a complete no go for me.

Because the answer is already known. It's not like a question regarding the kind of kink, story or context, here the answer is strongly linked to the age distribution in the community. Especially since you can give more than one answer.
When gave the choice, no one want to be put in the shoes of a MC too older than them. You can find young players who prefer mature women, but you'll have way more difficulties to find young players who prefer to be a mature MC. This while you'll find many old players who don't care this much to play a younger MC.
Not only it's pleasing to be young again, even if it's just a fantasy, but it's also easier to identify with who you were 20 years ago, than with who you'll be in 20 years.
Therefore, globally the younger ones will strictly answer in their age range, while for the older ones, their two first answers will be in their age range, and the last one will be the younger range they dislike the less. And there's no need to look at the result to know that the majority is between 20 and 30, nor to do some divination to know that it will stay like this at the end of the poll ; young enough to still please the younger, old enough to not annoy the older, and right in the range for the majority of the members.
In the end 25-29 will probably being a little above 19-24.
In a way it will answer the intent behind the question, "what age should I give to my MC", but it don't answer the question as worded (see below).
You would be right if there were only one possible choice. But it's not the case here.
So, you'll host a party and, in order to prepare the drinks, you ask everyone to pick their three preferred alcohol. The answer will be (in order of preference) :
gin / vodka / beer
whisky / wine / beer
whisky / vodka / beer
vodka / beer / wine
"I'm curious, what is your preferred alcohol [one answer only]"
whisky (2) / gin and vodka (1) / wine and beer (0)
Two persons will drinks with pleasure, two will not drinks.
"What alcohol would most of you agree to drink [two possible answers]"
vodka (3) / whisky (2) / gin, wine and beer (1)
Three persons will drinks (one with pleasure), one will not drinks.
"What alcohol should I buy if I want that all of you drink something [three possible answers]"

The four will drinks but would have preferred something else.
It answer to the intent of your question, but not to the question as worded. You'll know what alcohol to buy, not the one preferred by the majority.

You're thinking waaay to much, for the quoted part and the entire comment.
You reach that answer by yourself? Good job. Nothing in the OP implies an answer or answers itself, even less with your answer, so if the OP doesn't have an answer, he'll ask, and if it doesn't specify details, then people can give a general answer. If people votes the way you say, which I mostly agree it'll happen, then that's great, the OP will have the answer that he wanted. The fact that you'd have done the question differently or that you reached a conclusion before the OP doesn't mean that the question is silly/already answered/poorly done, it means that the OP didn't reach an answer yet or simply had a different kind of question than the one you'd do.
I get your alcoholic point, I agree with it, but the example still doesn't make sense in this topic. The OP asks "What's your ideal age?" Yours, only you, not others, not the entire F95 community, just you, only yours. You do you and vote for whatever you prefer, others would do the same, and everyone's vote will become the general answer that the OP wanted. You example implies "Who wouldn't drink?", the OP doesn't ask "What wouldn't play?". No one will be left out, is just a question.
Usually college age for me.
I lean toward the "landlady" games and MC being any older usually makes the LL model too young to be realistic. Admittedly, I can also go for "shota" sometimes(don't judge me lol), but it has to not be too creepy. For reference, I'm actually in the young adult range, but like I mentioned, the LL models are too young looking for MCs of that age.

There's a serious dearth of middle aged protags, which is a bit of a shame to me.
In my 40s now, and tbh games with younger MCs are just a bit too prevalent for my tastes.
For every game made that has an MC in his 30s to 50s, there's probably like 200 or 300 about a dude in his last year of high school, or who just entered/exited college. Kind of sad really. Not a lot of representation for us guys who hit middle-age and are just about on the brink of having those moments that just change everything.
So since the pickings are so slim with games featuring MCs I can actually relate to, most of the time I just ignore the story entirely. Just hold down the skip button until the animations start up.

No wonder, especially since all the most popular games are about an 18-year-old boy in his first year of college or his last year of high school. Even having incest isn't as important as making a game about college. Damn, I'm trying to make a game about a 29 year old myself because I'm 29 and it would be easier for me to write it, but when I look at the popularity of college, I want to adapt the story for an 18 year old guy in his first year of college.

If that's your biggest issue is the the age of the MC it is not uncommon for people to go back to college at older ages for a career change or to skip college when their younger entirely, then go to it later on when they're more financially stable.
Maybe you could do it from the POV of a character who is 29 and getting the whole college experience for the first time.
Heck, would even open up the door for other characters in his classes to joke about about his age. Call him Dad or Grandpa. Warn him not to throw out his back. Stuff like that.
