Graphtreon has some interesting statistics about the top porn games, if this interests you...

Sooo, according to the first link, apparently there's currently over a quarter million people pledging adult games on Patreon...

Just thought I'd share.

I think summer time saga deserves the first spot , fenoxo as well deserve the high place .
Akabur seems to be gotten lazier by the day and basically feeding off his loyal fanbase ( i could be wrong )

The most game that bugs me is , Simbro . How can that stupid , simple flash game be even on the top 50 list ??
don't get me wrong the game is alright , a top earner really

Not sure if its even worth a discussion but just something I really wanted to express and its not the type of thing you post as a FB status x'D

Nverjos isn't in the Top 50 and EvaKiss is only 33rd. Compared to every thing else in that Top 50, it makes no sense to me. I know everyone has their own taste but it reminds me why its so hard to find real quality games on here, developers with truly ambitious ideas or projects with amazing writing obviously aren't what the community wants. The fact that Camp Pinewood draws in significantly more than than Good Girl Gone Bad blows my mind.
That list is based purely on number of folks making donations to a game... It has no complete baring on whether or not a game is any good or not... It's just a list based off number statistics... You can have a really good game and/or visual novel and just because it doesn't get a ton of donators on ONE website, that doesn't mean a whole lot... Some of those games on Patreon with tons of donators may have just been around a lot longer on Patreon... There are so many factors that might have come into play that effect those statistics...

All you can really use that list for is suggestions, not a true measurement of how good games are or are not... You can also use that list to then compare the quality of releases along with development time, and then compare that to the money being generated, to determine who is milking and who isn't... Plus, some of those pages may have a developer working on multiple projects with just the one page, so the fan bases are stacked on top of one another for that one site and multiple VN/Games... Again, that list isn't a full proof list, so I wouldn't read too much into it...

My original rant was more so about the high quality games not getting the donations they deserve but you're right. Haven't came back to this thread much just because I literally just felt like complaining and that's it x'D

I think Dark Silver don't deserve that spot that my personal opinion. BB That is the only adult game i regretted playing for awhile.

no way! insexity_team has 4500 patreons and earns 16k. just...why? o.o
- Not shitty daz3d models
- Actual gameplay
- Not lazy, actually doing something
- So far, updates that add content
- There is some story with the game
- few other things

No idea dude, must be some wicked shit.

Yes, it's paper animation, but it's already better than soulless, creepy daz3d dolls.
People simply like what they are doing. I don't know what there is so hard to understand or what are you trying to say here. Is the issue that they are making 16k and you don't like? Well, their format sells and the game is good enough to suck supporters in which want more of the game. Look at the stats, most of their supporters go for $1 pledge, which makes 3k+. 1.5k of people went for milking pledge of $10.
I don't know, it does sound like you just don't like the fact they are doing fine because you didn't like the game. You can either expand on that or agree, both are fine, just not exactly sure what you are trying to point out here.

what i don't like is, that it's always those cheap games that get sooo much money. it's okay if they get money (kudos for them), but that much? there are so many developers out there who make good games but can't even live with the money they get (if they get any) and then i see papeanimations games and they get so fucking much it's just crazy. i often have the feeling, quantity rules over quality. thats my issue here.

I get what you are saying now, but that could be applied to many things if you only look at the outside of it. I don't think their game was cheaply made or quickly put together. I don't remember, but I don't think they used unity for this (if I am wrong, correct me) and that means they had to do everything from scratch to make it work. If they did use unity, it still takes some skill, backgrounds to draw, chara to draw and animate, someone needs to write script and edit/correct it, not to mention translations and such.
But I could agree that with more money they could get much more out of it, better chara animations/art, etc. Generally in cases like that I prefer to wait and see how it develops over time. My last encounter with the game was ok, way too grindy for my taste, but I despise grinding in general as it's just a lazy way to prolong the game instead of doing that with content.

There are cons and pros, but I wouldn't say it's bad, maybe too rough here and there, but still ok.

In this world a products worth is not determined by quality but marketing which must be the one thing anyone in the top 50 does right...right?...well...scrolling through some of these patreon pages I can't even figure out that part...I mean...
" Why do I have to give you money?
Up to you. There's some rewards I guess."...eh...yeah...that's worth 37k...I guess...:coldsweat:

Nah seriously if you want to live a happier life stop thinking about it...as there is no logic a satisfying answer is as unlikely as the quest to find the holy grail to have success...
On a high note I rather have some porn games that manage to earn more money than they might be worth than another senseless gore and violence promoting triple A shooter that manages to circumvent age restrictions turning a dime...that's why I say the "top 50" might not be my personal top games ( 1 out of 50 really) but I do not feel depressed about it and none of you should either.;)

Personally I couldn't really get into Good Girl Gone Bad because of the artwork... It just didn't do it for me.

Well, marketing is one of the things and while indie devs use the simplest forms of it, you don't need much. Big companies are much better at it. But, only reason it works, basic or not, is because people let it work. We live in mentality of "I want it and I want it now", to the point of giving crap because people want something they like. You can't change that until people are kicked enough and even then it's not certain.
Only person stopping you from being a decent human being is you yourself.

Ah, insexity is actual on development. And I tried it once, not my cup of tea (for the female protagonist), but not bad either.
What is surprising is SimBro still at 6k.
Mind you, back then it was a nice brothel game.
But they have made close to nothing for the last six months.
One of their post on patreon was actually a middle finger to the patrons who were asking for more communication.
Their last post about updates (the randomized blinking eyes) was pointed out as being 3 lines of codes at the most, from another developer.
Still, they have 6k/months.
I wish I was as good and smart as them. :D

By smart to you mean as far as Milkers are concerned, or do you mean on the development side? Because I feel sorry for all those donators who either are that gullible or they just forgot to un-sub... If the developer hardly does anything to their product and yet still takes peoples hard earned cash, that makes them very good conmen and the donators suckers for falling for it...

@Zippity Wait... they slowed down/stopped updating/don't do significant updates? If that's the case, it seems they fell under same spell that money creates. Such shame if it's an actual thing, but fuck them anyway. If it's not the case, then I don't see a problem other than initial ones I had.

There was a bit of irony, but, on the other hand, how can I know if these patrons are "milked" or they forgot to unsub or they loved so much the game that they continue to pay for it in memory of all the fun they had, thinking the money is anyway deserved?
Having all these doubts, my only certainty is that I'd like to be the one getting the 6k/month. ;)

You're right, and for the most part idgaf, I was just drunk that night x'D Still, as someone that once had huge dreams of being a musician and writer, I hate marketing > quality. Its completely logical but fuck, to make such quality but the guy the makes shit but can afford a publicist or has thousands of ig followers are the ones that find success. Struggling artist problems but oh welll ....

Marketing yourself is so important but I was too idealistic starting off and thought it was ab nothing but creating the best art you could.
