VN - Ren'Py - Completed - My Sister, My Roommate [v1.69] [Sumodeine]

Ok, I managed to finish the game, time to review the game.

The very concept of the story of this game is perfectly fine. The problem, unfortunately, is in the telling of the story.

The story development is not very realistic or believable. A boy who hasn't had any contact with women all his life after going to college doesn't even have to try too hard to bang chicks left and right. It's enough for him to be cute and weird. Really? Something like that completely kills the sense of story progression.

Speaking of characters, it's hard to point out any character in this game that really stands out above the rest. Most of the characters are just plain boring, with no backstory that would allow you to get emotionally involved with them. The only characters that fall into this category are Nikki and Molly, but even they aren't particularly interesting.

The game has a few different endings but yet I still felt many times that the game was forcing too many things on me and as a result I felt that my choices had minimal impact. For example, why couldn't I tell Mrs. Sollaine to fuck off at the very beginning of the story? Why was there all this story with Skylar if it didn't matter what I did with her at the end anyway?

The renders are just OK and nothing more. Neither are they top notch, nor are they terrible. The characters are often lacking in detail, which makes it harder to get emotionally involved in the scenes. As far as animations are concerned, I really felt like I was back in school and I was dicking around in Power Point. It would be better if there were no animations at all.

Humor and dialogues are probably the only positive aspects of this game. I really enjoyed the incest references, the trial at the end of the game or the truth and dare game on the beach. Even the references to politics were okay.

Overall the game is unfortunately highly disappointing. Maybe the author's next project will be more interesting.

first off, game is great, the renders are great, the animations are great, and even the story is quite interesting, so why only three stars? that is what brings me to the second part, this game would be 5 stars, if it wasn't for the political bullshit in this game, if that was removed, game would be 5 stars, as it stands the political stuff drags it down to 3 stars, good game but room for improvement

Nice looking, easy going game. Quality of renders is good, animations are fine and background music is OK. Story is maybe little bit too much straight forward but I can't say that it's wrong. There is certain level of characters development as well as some spice in the plot. With playthrought time about 5 hours, this is a ideal game for those, who are looking for above average game with more linear story and nice visual. I can recommand. 7/10. [v1.69].

a lot of the lines from the game were original and not generic like other games I’ve played in the pass so that caught my attention and kept me engaged. Excellent character models that has more realistic feel to them and not Barbie like. I enjoyed the path that the game has there’s a lot of options which makes me want to replay it and make different choices.

however I do wish it was more mischievous and gave options during sex scenes. Having the choice what to do during those scenes will add to the immersion.

My Sister, My Roommate is an enjoyable VN about a guy going to college and exploring his sexuality.
Story is very simple but has excellent writing. Dialogue is fast paced and smooth, also pretty funny at times.
Graphics are kinda dated but it holds up. Animations are kinda wonky and sex scenes are pretty short.
Most characters are pretty interesting, choices matter and have consequences, and there are multiple endings. You have to replay the game to get all the scenes.
In conclusion, this a solid VN with a male mc and incest content.

Not sure I can give it much more than 3. It has its bright points with graphics and comedic writing and I enjoy some of the renders but I otherwise don't feel all that much else satisfaction towards it.

The MC is nearly as dense as a rock and sometimes doesn't understand something even though it's already been explained to him. Getting a little annoyed at how devs make some MCs or characters just overtly dumb.

We have minimal choices to make that affect the story itself, making it more of VN than a game like Spectre mentioned

The sex scenes are quite literally powerpoint slides, i.e [they enter bathroom, they enter stall, A slots into B, cums, "that was so hot"] and end scene. Hard to appreciate them 'cause they aren't really there to begin with.

Just hard to have any sense of "emotional" attachment towards the game that made me want to continue playing but that's just me

The game is a teenage male fantasy that is too unrealistic for me to really connect with and enjoy. The story is forced and the game constantly tells the player how they feel about all the characters in the game without leaving any of the decisions up to the player. There are few choices in the game and it is really just a visual novel and not a game.

The graphics are decent but the renders are below average and outdated. The character models are very basic and lack detail.

The sex scenes are plentiful but they lack soul. They are over very quickly and there is almost no buildup to them. The sex events in the game come very easily with no effort on the part of the MC. It is a bit too much to swallow, even for a fantasy novel. The MC gets lucky constantly and everyone wants to have sex with him.

I can only see the appeal for teens who don't understand how relationships really work. The MC literally does almost nothing to get girls to suck him off and fuck him.

Your sister in the game acts like a whore and slut and freely gets naked in front of you and even enjoys you watching her get naked, masturbate, and have sex with other guys.

Way too much fantasy here with little realism. The best stories are ones that are mostly believable with some fantasy, not just a teenage male wet dream.

The short version is: “My Sister My Roommate” is a fun game, well worth the time investment to play through it, being simple and short enough that it never overstays its welcome.


As a side note – this review will be completely spoiler free (other than mentioning character names).


Compared to your average visual novel “My Sister My Roommate” has very simple dialogue lines, in part due to how self aware the game is, the game knows that it is a visual novel and embraces this entirely, which gives it a very unique vibe – often times the author uses the dialogue, and characters, to put out social commentary, or references to other similar visual novels, and on every single one of those times it is done in a very entertaining way.


STORY:
While simple, a shy guy going into college, the story does have its merits, mainly being able to keep up a very good pace whilst keeping itself interesting.


Being rather short works in the game’s favor, as it is very unlikely to get “old” or “boring” whilst playing from start to finish.


The dialogue, whilst not complex in any way, does a very good job in being entertaining, often cracking jokes at itself or at the expense of one or another character, always in a fairly lighthearted and friendly way.


Because of how many references to other visual novels the game throws around it might not be the best entry point to this type of game, it is likely that I didn’t get all of them myself, but the game I noticed being referenced the most is “Acting Lessons” which is another game I highly recommend.


With that being said the narrative’s main idea is to be “fun”, and it does accomplish that, in large part with unexpected lines of dialogue, with characters trying to “act” a certain way or the main character’s thoughts.


CHARACTERS:
All of the main cast members feel very distinct from one another, them being small in number also helps them standout when it is their time to occupy the spotlight.


The main character being beyond clueless as far as social cues go works wonders for comedic value, whether or not his misinterpretation leads to his success.


Nikki’s (the sister/roommate) easygoing counterpoint to the main character’s shyness in particular is very interesting to see, especially when she is doing something that he can’t really understand and his confusion is demonstrated to the player via his thoughts.


SEX SCENES:
To be perfectly frank I don’t really care about the sex scenes on this type of game, they’re not really why I’m playing and most of the time I just find them boring, there are very few that I find graphically enjoyable.


With that being said it’d be unfair for me to be harsh to games on this specific point – I’ll not kink shame though, go nuts people – that’s why I’ll write about them either way.


I wouldn’t say the graphics of them specifically are all that good, I did find them rather bland and generic – their writing also appears to rely on said graphics (in a way) because there’s not a lot in the means of description and/or dialogue.


This game does rely on its sex scenes quite a bit and as mentioned they’re not all that much entertaining, still, the rest of the game is interesting enough that it is still worth playing (unless you’re planning to just skip dialogue for some reason, I wouldn’t recommend it then).


CONCLUSION:
If reading through a short but fun story that is very much aware of what it is sounds interesting to you – give “My Sister My Roommate” a try.

It is worth how much time it requires to be finished, with many funny moments carefully placed along the narrative, whilst it does have some less interesting moments they’re not enough to cause any real issues to your perception of the whole narrative.

With all that being said – “My Sister My Roommate” would be somewhere between a 4/5 and a 5/5 game, but since you can’t really rate partial numbers, and I do think that it is a really enjoyable experience, it feels more deserving of the latter.

Enjoyed it. Typical story and is as unrealistic as it can get but the writting manages to be entertaining by being funny. In a way it's like a parody of all other games like this, because it never tries to sell you bad writing, it's a game that wants to be funny while providing gratouitous renders. And it manages that just fine.

The characters are stereotypical, and if you are into character development and realistic settings this is not for you.

Definitely worth playing, pretty enjoyable game, good in all aspects. Not the best, as the females aren't very breathtaking. But the story is good, with some thoughts and humor. Visual content is well done. Erotic scenes are OK. Branches depend on choices, especially the endings. Can be recommended.

Let me be frank: This was a four-star game (at best) for most of my playthrough. The renders are dated, and the animation is kind of weak. BUT, god-damn is this not a fun game!

The writing is top-notch! It is very self-aware and funny and that's what makes this story work. It tells a fun story with good branching and lots of different kinds of attractive females to play with. I really enjoyed the Devs take on alternative relationship styles and how normalized he makes them (as it should be!). It has fourth-wall breaks, commentary, and tons of easter eggs.

However, because of the easter eggs, I do NOT recommend this game as a starting point for your porn game experience. Go out and play some other games first. Get some LESSONS in porn games and then come to this one. You will enjoy it much more with some experience.

But do not miss out on this game. It is excellent!

Great game, love the story and chars, since the roomate Niki to the sweet Molly, good replayability to get al the scenes and ending. Was a bit tired of all those incest games, was a fresh pause. Animations were ok, and the several sex positions during sex was also a good start.

This is the best and most fun game I have ever played... The author's sense of humor is unsurpassed and there are no overdeveloped mammary glands or baseball bat-sized penises...
There is a very entertaining, original and realistic story. The funny dialogues are around every scene and the characters are most believable...
Without a doubt, my favorite visual novel and the most entertaining and fun I've been lucky enough to play.
Others will be better technically, but surely will not enjoy a script as good as this game's...

Sin lugar a dudas, mi novela visual favorita y la más entretenida y divertida que he tenido la suerte de jugar.

Really underrated in my opinion. For starters the characters are interesting and fleshed out. The writer excels at creating natural sounding dialogue, too often in games the conversations seem stunted and unnatural. There's some great humor too and a lot of hot characters to pursue.

I believe that people were unhappy with the ending so the dev redid it. Firstly that shows real commitment and professionalism. Secondly, he knocked it out of the park. There are many different possible endings which I won't spoil but the one I chose left me feeling really satisfied.

Overall a great game and I look forward to trying more things from the dev in the future.

There is actually nothing really negative to say about this game except that the animations can be funny looking when they try to do them. If you can even call it animations. But, I wouldn't let that stop you from playing this game. There are a lot of paths though I suggest the walk through to help you get the path you want otherwise you will need to be very lucky to not fuck it up.

(I will say though this isn't a necessarily negative thing about the game itself but... the game font is terrible. I don't mean the text within the game (thank the heavens) I mean the text you see when in main menu and the text used to use quick save, quick load, save. It is so hard to read it because the font is absolutely terrible.)

What a nice game!

The incest story is awesome and the characters are well written. The scenes are hot and there are some good choices!

The only problem are some of the side characters, but it is a taste thing I guess...

The brother and sister dynamic between Tales and Nikki is touching. She's the spice helping him reach new heights, he's the innocent one keeping her grounded and sane. Differences can drive us apart, but one's weakness can be the other's strength and they have learned to complement each other. Together their two halves make a whole. They argue, as siblings typically do, but not without realizing how petty the bickering is and how much they mean to each other.

If you're a sucker for character-driven games like me this will be right up your alley. Personality wise I fell for Nikki. There's others to romance if you don't like her but she does get most of the spotlight. She is your roomie, after all.

The dialog has emotional wit. Tales (the MC) is an introvert. His internal thoughts are credible in that they aren't too extreme, and whenever there's a risk of him becoming boring Nikki comes into the picture with her bouncy personality. At other times, when she feels he could use help, she offers insight to Tales' listening ear.


With v1.69, Sumodeine added the possibility of a happy ending with Nikki. Previously he planned against that kind of ending, hesistant to write a cliché. Akin to how Nik drives Tales to try new experiences and leave his bubble, I suppose Sumo desires to enrich us with a new experience as well. Rest assured that this is worth playing. That the way tension builds and feelings are discovered between Nik and Tales does add a certain originality. As such, the more important it is what happens to them. I'm glad more story branches were added, and that I was able to shape a happy ending.

Gonna keep an eye on your works, Sumo!

4/5 Good game, it's fun. But kind of disappointing for incest lovers because the sister isn't really that hot and the MC loses virginity to someone else already and she's way too willing (that really decreases the taboo aspect) and how come she don't get to fuck anyone else (that is if the MC doesn't try to cockblock her. I originally played without the patch but that non related roommate stuff kinda felt weird so I applied the patch mid game. And as a good thing I don't remember anyone had zombie skin color, so that's really a big plus for me. I mostly like the humor of this game and characters don't look uncanny so I've wanked a lot.

The hottest girls in order would be: Sarah, Jessica, Skylar, Sollain, Molly, Chelsea, and the others would not really be that worth mentioning. Anyone knows how to get to the Sarah scenes if they exist? I'll try my luck on that one. Also I wish girls in general had bigger boobs, my like for Sarah would already tell that but she's all around perfect. Jessica only lacks some boobs but her face is really cute.

The game doesnt look bad, but is kind of poor, that would be the word, i have been seing kind of rushed dialogues, scenes with dialogues that recycle ne sinlge image, scenes where the image that support the dialogue comes like really late, and one particulary funny one, where MC is arguing with his sister about the countrygirl and Jessica appears inside the room and just stands there. So the discussion keeps going with Jessica there like a piece of furniture and she dissapears until someone knocks on the door and Jessica comes in complaining about the noise.
In conclusion some scenes, like many, the way i feel it, seemto be consctructed effortless, meaning literally effortless, in a bad way.
Dialogues are cheap, like the writer wasnt even trying. The writing is balancing on a thin thread between sort of funny and blatantly lazy.
Sort of a cheap burned though 20 seasons sitcom, without the prerecorded laughs.

The hug first person pose that looks like a chimpance scratching his ribs, i mean is kind of a disaster, like my english and my prhasing.

Since last part there was some funny jokes adn the silly writing fits pretty well Ashley, and its kind of original that subplot I add 1 star to my original review.

This is an Amazing fun story, Taylor and Nikki are great together and to experience that through "Tails" eyes is wonderfully depicted by the Developer. Nikki is a wild and Sweet Character and well rendered, As i played I found myself not giving a shit about anyone else.. The journey Taylor and Nikki go on was a joy to experience .....

I hope Sumodeine has more stories to tell!!
