VN - Ren'Py - Completed - Life with Mary [v1.0.2 Final] [LikesBlondes]

Okay seriously this was one of the biggest (and best) surprises on this site since I found four elements trainer. First of all the game is great writing is nice it's not rushed (you have to actually go through some of the story before you can fuck everything that moves) and animations are great. But what really made me write this review was when she was reading a book and it came out as Guards! Guards! I think I might've had some tears in my eyes when I remembered all those hours I've spent on Pratchett so now I'll have to reread them again thanks to this game. Hope the developer will be able to continue the story in the same spirit.

This is really good. Like, really, really good. Writing is excellent. The romance actually felt believable which is insane, that never happens in these games. Yes it was quick but it was... believable in context of the game. The lead is great, she feels like an actual person, maybe a bit too perfect, but a person. The art is sexy but classy, and yeah did I mention the writing is great?

With a lot of these romance games, the "seduction" feels forced and unnatural. However in this game, albeit in a slow manner, the romance comes at a natural pace and is even sweet in a way. That's a very rare feeling that you almost never get in similar games.

Refreshingly competent character writing, great renders, and pacing that's slow enough to drive anticipation but not be frustrating. The last is a thin line to walk so it remains to be seen if the consistency will continue, but it's worth checking out as is. Absolutely mandatory if you like heartboners with your boners.

My Oh my, why arent there more games like this gem. The story the characters the back drop the getting , everything is refreshing and wonderful. Just that there could have been more choice initially where mare salma around you in a robert and hope there are route to get andy or here friend or even a juicy jaren in the future. Kudisai to the develop er, man you have wanted a local patten supported. Acting for more from you.

Great renders, very attractive girl, and I do find the lack of a harem theme to be refreshing. It's great to have a game that focuses on just the one love interest for the time being. Progression is good, even if it feels a little too structured sometimes, and the updates have been large enough to be satisfying.

Heart warming Love story, Beautifully done

I have just got through reading this novel, and it made me feel like I was there with them, for me thats a rare thing indeed.

The pace is slow at the start but steady as one might expect, and builds quite quickly... this has all the hallmarks of something you just cant put down.

This VN is now complete... The story is over and its somewhat sad...
This had the potential of going alot further then it did but I gues, it boils down to how far the dev wants to take it...

The part of getting bored with each other was somewhat surprising to me, I cant imagine me getting bored with a partner that adores me...

The Dom that was introduced, had the potential of being more then one session and was never explored, again if your going to start, then complete it rather then leave things hanging...

There should have been more choices, Andi should have been one...

The last patch with the endings seemed like it was lets just finish it and say goodbye, which for a title this good really should have had a lead up rather then an abrupt end, something most of us didnt see coming,

Because this VN has maintained such a high standard The Swifts end, was Sad to see happen.

All this Aside its been a Great VN, but as all good stories, this one had to come to an end...

This is a great game with a great story. The art work is very good there is just something about Mary.... pun intended. The story line is good and I like the fact that the guy is a normal person not some crazy mind controlling dude or a molester.
This game is a very good story that you can actually get into. It has good story content with out it being overly wordy per each scene.
My only very small criticism would be that I wish there were more places that had questions or where you could make the wrong choice so far it seems very straight forward.
Over all this is an amazing game and I pray that it keeps getting added to and expanded.

The characters look good, always nice to see an MC that isn't a little asshole or an old pervert.
I mean, okay, he looks like a model, but so do all the girls, so...
If I could complain about anything in the visuals it is that Mary does look a bit too old at times.


We have a really slow build-up to a romance here, but this was what the dev set out to do and he's doing a good job..
No harem, no incest, but all of that isn't really needed, sometimes a love-story is enough.

Edited to add: The ending came a bit too suddenly, some plot points were never really worked out, stuff like the BDSM just up and vanishes.
It did seem as if the dev ran out of story to tell and then just somehow ended it. Not completely bad, but also not the ending a game that started out so strong deserved.
Due to this I have to take away one of the 5 stars from my previous rating.

Excellent.
Nice to see a game with a natural rythm to it. No diving in off the deep end, for the MC at least, and knobbing every female in sight without a thought or care for others.
All the main characters are showing some type of moral decency, with the exception of the dad that is.
With him it's simply this.
A standing prick has no conscience.

There's something to say for the MC in this story, at least, so far that is.
He's seems to be honest, and a gentleman to boot and not a player. He seems quite happy to be letting himself drift into this "affair" or rather into this forthcoming relationship with Mary.
Mary, it would seem, is more than happy to have found her port in the storm (the impending divorce and all her troubles leading up to it) She has opened up to him (the MC), and by being relaxed and happy in her new surroundings she's blossomed and the MC is slowly realising what he has missed up to this point in his life.
A companion/girlfriend/lover and partner/wife(?).

Apart from being pressured(?) by her friend, with all her questions and asides, is slowly finding herself falling in love with her "Uncle" but Mary also shows signs of concern, or is it worry, when her parents are due to arrive or are around and she wants to act like nothing is going on between them.
An issue in further updates could be anger/resentment from the parents, by the MC in breaking their trust in him if/when they find out what's potentially on the cards or what is actually happening. Forgetting that she, Mary, is as much to blame as the MC, but then again her father has his love interest in town and seems happy enough, until the next one comes along no doubt... Mum seems to be on a possible path with the MC's friend when they meet, the right chemistry between all three couples could be an ending where all find their true happiness? But I doubt it though.

No sex yet, but the undercurrents are bubbling away nicely and if/when they, Mary and the MC, do finally sleep together (sexually) it should be treated with decency and not a "wham bam thank you mam" moment, as Mary is quite happy to sleep in her "uncles" bed with him beside her and him not doing the naughty at all.
To me this makes for a better outcome, sexually, because, as I see it, this will be a natural progression for the couple, because they do almost everything else together, without any sexual contact, apart from a kissing, instigated by Mary.
So when they do finally make love, and not fuck, it should be treated in the right way. With love and maybe with a hint of passion to give it some urgency.

Looking forward to the next update and to see how things will progress, mainly between the MC and Mary. All other relationships are ships in the night compared to theirs.

I love this game. Developer is doing a great job. Story is progressing nicely, renders are great. Mary is beautiful. Looking forward to see what next updates will bring. One of those games that definitely are worth playing.

I picked up this game a few updates ago but decided to delay writing a review untilI had a more clear idea of the game. So now, here it is:

Live with Mary distinguish itself in its paced plot and lack of perversity. The story revolves around a man (not a boy or a teenager) and the teenager daughter of his friend that comes to live with him. So far, nothing out of the ordinary, right? We have seen the same concept used and abused countless times...
Where this game differs however is the approach that it takes. There are no pervs in the game, no blackmail, no corruption, it is a simple story of attraction between two persons. What makes it really shine is the dialogue, which gives us an insight in the doubts and fears of overreaching of an older man coming to terms with his growing affection and attraction toward a younger woman. Many will complain that the progress is slow, there are not enough characters, there is no sex and so on, but the fact is that the main characters build a relationship slowly, showing us in the process their fear of rejection and awkwardness. Unless you are looking for straight-from-the-start porn, this makes it bittersweet and enjoyable.

The script is flawless, I dont recall catching even a hint of bad grammar, something that comes as a pleasant surprise after the invasion of engrish of the last couple of years.
The renders are good, the backdrops seem to be unique, lighting in the renders (with a few minor exceptions) is good. I usually prefer to be able to see the stats of the girl, yet in this case I felt that not knowing gives a more realistic feeling of immersion. This is a game that is, in my opinion, worth sponsoring

Great history, great character presentation and development, and surprisingly great story line. Really love this game. Hope the devs keep the way,.waiting to see how the game goes and have great aspirations to the final product

This is not a typical porn game, if you want plenty of sex, fetishes to gather a harem and to call every girl you meet a whore than this game is not for you, this is more of a love story between a Innocent but smart college girl and mc who start to fall for each other gradually , the story tho is well build not rushed with some really nice renders

Beautiful renders, beautiful story, and (gasp!) the MC and LI are NOT related! Each character has a personality and quirks, and the relationships unfold naturally over time. Nothing really feels forced.

This game is doing everything right so far. If you like a realistic looking game and story, this game is for you.

It's still early in development so there isn't too much content but it is already one of my favorite games.

A really good one. The characters are all interesting. I particularly like that the plot is not as shallow as other games (corruption and the sorts). Mary seems to be into the MC and I don't have to forcefully convince her. a good game so far, do recommend!

wonderful story, good speed. Love it very much. It is good to see a game without incest! Hope you will continue with the story as it is right now. The development is realistic, if you live together. I guess we will see more friends of Mary in the future. Please do not make them slutty. The first girl friend is already open enough.

Wow! This game is just great. Just a demo version so far, but you get a good impression of what the game will be like. The animations look good, the facial expressions make the characters come alive. Thet beeing said, what this game has got going for it is the writing. During the story we really get to know the characters wich is impressive for a demo. The characters seem real, with humor, personality, joys and sorrows. I really have to say the writing, humor and realism is some of the best ive encountered in a visual novel. This has the potential to be one of the greats!

So simplistic and so sweet...
You don't need the whole bunch of characters, bad guys who'll prey on your love interest - you only need two loveable protagonists slowly falling in love.

And here we have them. Charming story and characters you'll care about. Love stories tend to be slightly boring, but not here.

Highly recommended.
