It isn't harder. The focus is actually the same, a violation of your rights as a creator. Unless you try to make it bigger and try to take them down totally in which case prepare for that.

In fact if you ever put a legal complaint against them I would believe they would surrender before they go into trial.

Go here to report their Patreon page IF you can prove the comics he's selling have content against Patreons ToS > guidelines@patreon.com

If not, creators will have to report that their content is being stolen from @DawnCry 's link.

This thread was originally about someone (who is still up) selling games they didn't make. The link I responded to is selling a subscription service and giving out games from that. I was assuming since there's an extra step there, it could be harder to prove what they're doing is wrong. Apparently it's not.

Because of the openness of Renpy, it would be near impossible to secure as you asked.

So far as I'm aware you can't, the only option ren'py offers is packing the games assests into .rpa files, if you wanted some-kind of drm or encryption I guess it would have to be third party but even then it would likely end up getting cracked if someone was dedicated enough to the job.

No one can totally secure a game on any platform, some games developers have tried over the years, but someone will always come up with a crack etc..........

I know. I said in my post that I am aware it isnt possible to entirely stop but I want some ideas to make it more difficult/inconvenient so that it deters most people from trying. I am well aware that nothing can stop it fully guys.

Make the patreon button (assuming you have one) part of the main menu background (So not a simple button that can be deleted), this way even if they get it, you will still get visibility.
Otherwise wait for that to happen and then file a DMCA takedown like runey did.

Or, still directly in the main menu background, add something like, "this game is only legally available at [URL of your Patreon page]", or, "if you payed someone else than [your patreon name] for this game, you've been robbed."
The goal not being to target the players, but the sellers. They have more to loose by illegally selling your game than by ignoring it. In the second case they'll loose some money, but in the first one part of their customers will understand that it's a scam and stop buying anything.

While I appreciate the idea, because they have access to the rpa files they can easily change the background to their own or put their logo in front of these messages. This is why I wanted to secure the rpa file first (Yes I know its impossible to do 100%). I did find a way to secure my files in the end so its all good now. Thanks
