I always find it passing strange that 99% of the futanari I see in stories or being RPed or what have you, are always very dominant feminine identifying, and almost exclusively consider themselves lesbian. You rarely ever seem to find Male on Futa or even Male on mtF or even 'Traps' for that matter. Not rightly sure the reasoning behind it, but just couldn't help but notice it, particularly if you're ever on forums or in something like WoW on Moon Guard. That said, I agree that the two terms are becoming more and more synonymous, though true hermaphroditic characters seem to be becoming more rare in favor of those with just a (normally significantly oversized) penis.

So a chick with a dick or a fat dude with more rounded tits? Of course title doesn't say weight but looking at it this way makes it easier to answer. Well anyways this is easy honestly, sure I would prefer the chick not the have a dick but at least its a chick. A dude is a dude my dude, tits or not its like fucking a trans pre operation its still a dude maybe closer to a gay dude than a woman.
Though a trap I could see the debate since futa tends to be chicks with giant cocks, but traps at first sight is 100% woman and not only that it adds character (usually small pp as well so less noticeable). Like look at Astolfo from fate series, a lot of people love that character but if it wasn't a trap most would barely pay attention since the girls of that series are mostly 10/10.

Don't even know why I responded to this thread, I guess boredom. Ill leave a pic for some trap love, now the real question on everyones mind and always will be debated is... Are traps ghey?

MtF Transgender / "Shemale" = a real person who was born as a male but decided to become a female. [...] From a story point of view I really like this kind of struggling, (although IRL it's not fun at all) and I would actually really like to see a game about a guy who actively decides to transform into a woman. I don't think it exists so far...
Blame Luxee, he kidnapped Nea and he still doesn't intend to release her.

Yes, I would be interested in playing a VN where characters deal with gender dysphoria, but alas. Now that Love and Submission is almost dead, Gates Motel is my last hope...

people need to stop muddying the waters.
  • futa needs both male and female sex organs to be considered futanari. (balls are optional)
  • dickgirls (fictional) are all woman except the vag is replaced with cock and balls.
  • shemales are dudes with tits.

if there were more dickgirl on female content, i think it would be more accepted among us perverts.
all too often it's two futanaris, or two dickgirls plowing each other. which no matter how you slice it, is gay.

Hey everyone,

I am curious about this also. I always have a distinction like: Futa is a woman with a dick and mainly a woman but shemale/tranny is a man with boobs and mainly a man.

Transexual is a man/woman who is formerly the opposite sex but changed it with an operation.

Am right about this? For me as an heteresexual, futa is ''That's okay I guess'' when FF actions but shemale/tranny is a direct ''No'' in all possible scenarios.

Ahahaha. This might sound funny but I always feel like futas are woman with a ''real'' strap-on. I think, that's why those didn't bother me. But when I look at the shemale/tranny side, I can only think ''real man with a real dick'' and also boob implant and that's all.

Just my two cents. I don't try to discriminate anyone. We all have preferences and I can respect them as long as you respect mine.

Penises in general don't "do it" for me but there it doesn't really matter what they're attached to. However I have come to HATE "futanari" and similar concepts for an entirely different reason, the way that material tends to be presented:
  • Lust Drug: the futa, often explicitly because of her dick (or the curse creating it), has a vastly higher sex drive than any woman and often the men too. This causes all action to centre around that magic super-dick the moment it appears, to the detriment of other characters.
  • Dominance/Agency: even if the previous point is not in effect futa characters tend to be written with far greater self-determination and agency, sexual or otherwise. Not actually bad in itself but the contrast with the other fully-female characters basically reduces them to fleshlight status, and I didn't come here for the futa.
  • Shame: the inverse of the previous point and usually a consequence of temporary dick growth, the raging hardon is portrayed as incredibly shameful, hiding it becomes a central plot in the story and every otherwise consensual scene reads like a rape flic with all the "noo", "eek" etc. thrown in.
  • Banana Surprise: unlike "traps" with andogynous forms or bulky clothing you're lured in by a curvy babe in a g-string bikini. Then "she" strips and a tumor thicker than her arm drops out, blergh!
  • Dick Cult: in terms of image focus (or camera position in 3D works) the futa dick often takes centre stage with zoom-ins, long lingering shots and upward-facing angles as if the camera were kneeling beneath it. Even worse with some western productions where the woman is obstructed by the dangling ballsack.
  • Emasculation: thankfully these are easy to spot and thus avoid but slapping on a dick tends to be the go-to excuse for female-on-male humiliation.
Again these are not innate to the concept of a futanari itself but in my experience so many works use it as a vehicle to shoehorn in those other themes to the point where I actively avoid heavy futa content by default. And then there's the actual anti-futa point:
  • "Unnecessary": take a female, ideally a pre-existing character, and tack on a raging boner for no reason. Usually for single-image posing with the dick not actively being used or acknowledged in any way. You drew a fully functioning woman, and then you made her LESS SEXY by adding a dick. Great job!

Futanari means "with two form" or something like that.
Traditionally it was used for entities who could change physically their physiology, going to female to male and viceversa as a switch. Gender bender pretty much.
In the hentai, then in live action porn, futanari where pretty much 100% females with a sausage in the place of the clit (or they had both) but no balls. It started like that the trend, in the 80thies/90thies. They were lesbians that accidentally, usually due supernatural forces (magic, deities etc), rarely as biological exception, developed the penis. A lot of times they developed the attraction to other females after the appearance of penis.
Still today in Japanese live action porn funatari are girls with artificial penis. This genre of porn was translate in english with "dickgirls".
Transsexuals are refered with different terms.

The confusion of the term happened in the last years, futanari is a niche genre with a lot of other fetishes added on and developed tons of other little subgenre (oversized body, horror futa with creepy transformation, futa on male, only masturbation etc. etc.). In the west meanwhile trans porn was pushed as futanari, therefore this created the confusion of the last years.
It ended up like the furry niche, nowadays many people think that furry means gay/trans too after the lgbt (well, lets remove the lesbians, the "gbt") communities took up the genre and almost monopolized it.
