Ren'Py - Abandoned - False Hero [v0.39.1 Beta] [Enyo Eerie]

Very good story and general feeling, well paced. Though it has two concurring stories (old/new content) both are excellent, even if the older story seems to be scheduled to be deleted in the future, it still is definitely worth the play.

I have been playing this for a while, watching where it would go, but after this update (0.9), I have to chime in with a review.

PROS:

The quality of renders and storytelling were good, but escalated to great in this latest release. Specifically, the Twins story from a previous release and the story between Melanie and Tiffany in this release were very well written, despite the fact that the writer's first language is not English. The interaction between the mother and daughter was actually quite deep and well beyond what I would expect in an adult novel, so hats off to the dev in that department.

The renders are beautiful, and considerable thought has gone into character creation, including a disabled character (one of the twins).

CONS:

The game is somewhat grindy, given that this is a sandbox-type game, however once I figured it out I found I could just click time advance to move the story forward quickly. I also didn't understand how the game was organized, however the brief walkthrough provides guidance on how to progress in the story and how to know when it is the end of a story arc for the current release.

While there have been many complaints about the speed or amount of content in updates, I would counter that with the fact that someone who has not ever written a game cannot fathom how much work goes into writing, programming, and creating art. Given the quality of development, I, for one, am happy to wait as long as it takes for the developer to continue to create high quality releases that are supported by strong story writing.

Renders: Top-notch, good lightning and shaders. Nothing to complain.

Babes: Insanely hot.

Gameplay: Too early to judge. It's still in starting process.

Summerize: Really a good game with biiiig potential!



Cons: A lack of life in all characters. It even feels like they all have the same character, stone-face and missing expressions, like all girls have no visual feelings..

4/5, put some life to the characters and this is no doubt a 5/5!

Review based on v0.08:

Extremely good looking models, a different kind of story and gameplay that isn't grindy. This is a openworld kind of game that involve a few different routes that you can switch between, while it is open world so does it not have any grinding yet. I don't know if he is planing to implement some mechanics that take actual use of the open world aspect, but so far there I none, just being used to get between places. The story for all routes are different and have their own unique situations, and while it is still in the early stages so does it pack a lot of story content. Enyo have a good eye for crafting really good looking models and imho is up there with the likes as DrPink, Mrdots, DecentMonkey etc. This game also has NTR content, but so far it's been mostly avoidable through decisions and are also clearly labeled!

I really recommend this game but the updates are slow and also have little content for the time it takes for them to come out, which is why I give it 4/5 stars. I think this is because Enyo have been reworking the game from the ground up and hope it will pick up speed when he finishes reworking it. If it does I'll change my rating to 5/5.

Man... This game is dark.

A lot of molestation (almost every, if not all, paths have it).
Some "unavoidable" NTR (well, this happens or has already happened, even if you chose not to see it).
The protagonist is a psychopath stalker (Not too different from other games hahaha)
And even the sweetest characters (twins) does't escape.

And the worse thing of all, is those "dark things" that make the game more believable
I'm not those weirdos who jerk off to someone else's suffering, but shit like these can happen.
Still... not even IRL all the woman that you know will get molested frequently, sometimes the game gets unnecessarily dark.
I mean, the MC is a stalker, but even so, you have to get lucky sometimes without having to work years for this.

I know that the game is on early stage and some of the scenes are being redone.
But right now I think the dev should slow down with the NTR stuff, since there not even a sex scenes involving the MC yet (or may have and i didn't choose the right path).
Of course he could go full cuck mode too, it not my cup of tea but there always a niche for this, right? hahahahahaha

Just finished the game available so far & eagerly waiting for what would come for the next update. Initially I rushed the game (due to lack of time & interest, considering it to be same as the other cliche "corruption visual novels") to watch the scenes it has to offer. Not the best way to decide but yeah, somewhat gives the idea about the game's depth & how much interested will one be, while actually playing it. I found the game's scenes/renders quite nice and surely worth trying sometime later.
Finally, I gave [False Hero] the time it deserved. I properly played the entire game till the end of each route, without rushing anything & savouring all there is to it (in current version). And I really really enjoyed it.

Pros :
1. Beautiful Renders
2. Good Story
3. Uniqueness of each girl path
4. Cool blend of emotions (lust, sympathy, innocence, responsibility, righteousness, care & affection etc.)
5. Well planned 'Character Development'

Cons:
1. A bit slow updates. (But good things take their time, I understand) ...also it won't be the same with new GPU I guess

Overall the game is really nice & deserved a 5 star rating. I pretty much hope the future updates be this amazing as well (if not better).

Personal note to Developer:
I loved how things went smoothly and nothing was rushed. It gave the story depth & made the characters look much more appealing & relevant to the plot. (The twin Sisters Plot was my personal favourite).
People do complain about not having any sex scenes so far, but if you're only here for sex scenes then wouldn't it be better to go watch porn!?
I understand some patreons want specific scenes, for they are contributing to the game; but forcing your will onto the game may sometimes ruin the charm that it would have had otherwise. Sometimes, having patience & letting things go slowly is the better option. I've seen some good games getting criticized later on, after they listened to the demanding public & added easily triggerable scenes. Ones where you can kiss a girl, simply upon meeting her for the first time & may even have sex. This might work if the girl was a declared slut, but not if all the girls behave the same.
I'm not saying one should not listen to these patreons but actually try to decide himself, if adding something would really be that suitable. Or better, if there can be an intermediate path, that also fulfills their wishes but does not tarnish the game's quality.

A lot of promises, but the gameplay needs to be improved

There are some reviews which make me wonder if we played the same game...they complain about things that are really not the case in this game...oO

Usually I don't give a review in such an early stage of a game but I think this game show enough promises to be a great one. If not, I will change my review later ^^.

Chara Design/Graphisms :
Just perfect. beautiful cute and sexy girls, nice background scenes too, even the guys are well done. The best I have seen so far.

Story/Background :
I find it very interesting, you might not know what you are doing at first, but you get to learn it step by step and it give some misterious feeling that is quite nice. It is well written. I cannot say much about the story as it is far from over, but if it goes on with the same quality of story telling , I don't see how it can go wrong.

Animations/Sex :
to be honest I haven't seen any...the pace is quite slow, but I don't think it is a bad point, it will be more rewarding that way. The games when you have it all so easy are so boring.

Gameplay/Choices :
the gameplay aspect is ok, it could be probably improved, for example by making a different pattern between week days and week ends, because after a while you repeat the same day and same actions and that could lead to boredom. Lastly, the point that think should be improved more in the future are the impact of the choices you make. Maybe because it is early stage, but the choices you make will change you 1 or 2 lines, or just the picture you see next, but then you are back on the main track, and it was like nothing happened even if you make 2 very opposite choices. Maybe because it's only 0.02 version, that for now that aspect is kept simple, but it is a pity. If the choices had greater impact on the story and relationship with girls, this game would have everything to be on the very top of the industry

Decided to give this a go because of the good rates.
When you start the game you get a question if you want "spoilers", well nobody wants that, and as it says: gameplay is pretty easy and advice to not read it, I chose no. But that was a mistake, you start without having a clue about anything really, who is the Mc, his friends, works etc. I click on everything, even so that gives out very little insight of who the Mc is and whats the purpose and goal. I restart the game and I get some "useful" information, not much, but a bit of who the Mc is, and also the "restrictions" since its v0.2 not a finished product. First mistake of the Dev.
Playing, you just "guess" what to do, after a while you understand that time doesn't matter, you "unlock" text by doing something or by talking. Now I feel Im not in a story but in a puzzle game, the only importance is to unlock, the story is just "the walking around" if we compare to a RpgMV. After tons of text I get bored and start to skip it, I feel cheated of my time as theres very little eroticism, no excitements, the Mc is not likable. Sure the CG is well done, the girls are very hot, the male characters are also well done. But thats it, its a gallery of pictures with no depth, since I dont feel involved and the story, even if its supposed to be good, gives me nothing as reward. Im playing a x-rated game right? So I expect that. 2 stars because of the good rendering, but for me its a waste of time.

the dev improved a lot, and its now a 4 star game (my first time I gave it a 2). sure its slow but the content is erotic and well done.

really nice game. although in its early stage, the game looks to be very promising. beautiful renders. intriguing storyline. writing is pretty good. basically no grind at all(a huge plus for me !). i also liked the protagonist(confident smart laywer, kind of villainy to be honest which i think fit the character pretty well). all characters in the game are unique and pretty well made. and the female models are drop dead gorgeous.
a definite 5/5 for this high quality work. hyped for future updates!

First of all graphics 4/5 - pretty decent actually , not "awesome perfect" like MILF city , but it add to the realism of the characters. Lois and Melanie are my fav.. the rest mmm well nice but the twins are cute though.

Game play 3/5 -> there are map movements , and money but no inventory , pretty limited but considering its only 0.2 , its understandable . And there is the "visit x times" for new events thing which some ppl hate and brand it as "grinding".

Story -> 5/5 wow... the developer really trying to make alot of background stories for each of the character , some of them not even developed yet but hinted.

Review-> Not much actual sex scenes or wait... i think none at the moment at 0.2.

There seem like there a love path(obvious options)for everything , though I think most of it kinda in-progress , like currently Lois will rebuff u regardless how well you treat her.

The NTR scenes are quite "meh" too .The protag or the game itself will automatically stop things from getting out of hand. But as mentioned before this is only 0.2

Not recommended for ppl who wanna see sex scenes on the any character model they meet on the first time. As mentioned there is the "visit x time" mechanism. Good thing is , the game actually show your progress on your visit eg(2/3) And +++ the developer actually racked his brains to make each visit different, revealing stuff or doing different things .. rather than e.g meet Lois 3 time just to say Hi and suddenly sex happen.

I hope this game really can go on , i am really pique in all the stories , though I not sure how he gonna accomplished that , like who is Max? And which deranged developer will make a porn game out of a cute gal in wheelchair , I have to play on further to find out how far his depravity goes... i mean for research purposes of coz. =D And pls give me the option to buy kryptonite , I don't feel comfortable stealing Lois from Clark man. That guy is dangerous.. I mean real dangerous

Beautiful renders and smooth interface. Interesting story also, can't wait to see more! As already known needs a lot of cleaning for language. Also too many different story points leads to less immersion. Needs different plot lines to interact with each other or even converge, otherwise it feels like you're playing seven different minigames.

Caveat: This is about the 0.1 version, stuff can easily change later and I might revise this rating. Also this may contain lots of spoilers, you have been warned.

The Good:

Renders and Models are beautiful (I am crushing very hard on Lois *sigh*).

Overall look and feel is refined and smooth. Nice Art all around.

The MC is actually handsome, clearly adult and promises a lot of hidden depths.

I am not sure yet if it is intentional, but the MC has a lot of subtle psychopathic vibes (detached, amoral, manipulative, calculating...) while staying outwardly charming and caring. Nice (and creepy). Supervillain material? (Clark must die painfully, nuff said)

The story starts intriguingly, promises to be quite interesting.

What (little, but hey, v 0.1!) sex already is in it, is well handled and actually erotic. The possible kinks that already can be seen or at least guessed are delicious (in my opinion)

The (kinda) Bad:

Almost all texts need the hand of someone with a real feel for the english language. It is no yandex engrish or even close, but syntax, phrasing and expression need polishing to improve comprehensibility.

The player is thrown into the middle of the plot with a lot of things having happened off screen before. While one can get into everything reasonably quick and - if I understood that correctly - this was a conscious design decision, I think it is a tad too much and feels strained in many instances. It would do the game good to start earlier. Leave a bit of stuff to be revealed later but stuff like how the MC got involved with Lois and her sis, should be actually shown for example.

tl;dr:

Good start, very interesting and gorgeous looking game. If it can keep that quality it will certainly be a very good game. If a good english editor can work on it and the plot is put in a more traditional arc this has the potential for a great game.
