I know that PornHub has gone through this and seems to be still surviving. I wonder if we might be able to get a group of NSFW game developers together and approach PornHub and see if they might want to branch out into selling NSFW games. They seem to have focused on NSFW content creators now, and that's what we are as NSFW game developers. We still have Steam, and itch.io but it wouldn't be a bad idea to have more options.

Maybe they can fill in for Patreon, and Gumroad as well? Losing Gumroad hurt the NSFW voice-acting market. Losing dlsite is hurting the ability to get the NSFW games from Japan. I really don't know right now, but hopefully there can be something that will fill in the new gaps in the market.
PornHub survived this because they deleted a majority of its content to please the credit card companies (which also only act on laws enforced on them). Sure they could try the gaming market, but only with fairly vanilla games.
do I understand it correctly, that the overlords crack down on nsfw where guys make money from (games, animations, hentai) but continue to support the nsfw where girls make the money (E-whoring)?

if they start banning porn before fixing women they are in for a surprise
It's not because of the NSFW or making money of it. It's because of the content (loli, incest, bestiality) that's offered.

pornhub deleting a lot of content was the initial result, but the big change long-term was the new mandatory verification system they implemented to stop revenge porn, underage and stuff. previously, anyone could upload anything. now everyone has to verify their identity and that of anyone participating in the video with photo id (some time ago they also added consent verification), so kinda lika patreon but patreon still doesn't allow porn with real people.

Thanks.

But banning fictional stuff because of anti-sex-trafficking laws makes no sense. Must be other reasons.
The laws were written pretty vague (as is often the case), so that it can be applied to all sorts of other illegal and semi-legal sexual related things.

Consider the fact that most laws in any tech space (yes, this includes rendered/drawn pornography) are made by turbo boomers who have absolutely zero fucking clue what they're talking about, and are stuck 20 years in the past.

Only read the wiki, but if the bill is THAT broad, like touching something entirely unrelated to sex-trafficking like fictional stuff - than my initial post kinda stands:

"do I understand it correctly, that the overlords crack down on nsfw where guys make money from (games, animations, hentai) but continue to support the nsfw where girls make the money (E-whoring)?"

As fun as it is to blame old people and tech illiteracy for this, it's not true. One, most laws in the US are written by lobbyists, who are not, as you put it, turbo boomers.

Two, proliferation of streaming, and lately AI is giving the law an excuse to further the scope creep. That's just how these things work, any government wants to grow, wants to regulate more, and more, and more. For example there's a new law in UK that will make creation of fake porn illegal. The MP pushing this is 45. She knows how internet works. The law is targeting deepfakes, but it's hard, or maybe impossible to write a law that would differentiate between deepfakes and good old photoshop. So the new law will criminalize both. But here's the thing, it's intentional. It is actually seen as a win. Can't have those skilled degenerates draw other people without their consent.

Getchu getting attacked now, removing and censoring stuff. (Ban non-Japanese IP next?)

Pixiv getting attacked, again. For now on Pixiv, you can set your location to Japan, for a work around. (Ban USA/GB IP)

Amazon.JP might of banned foreigners from viewing and buying stuff. PP and AP payment options getting hit next?

Another thing is that for about half a year Dlsite has been completely banned for accessing in Germany. I couldn´t find the exact reason why it happend but it could also happen in the UK and the US.

Well yeah, there is japanese leakers who are not effected by this. I'm just saying it would not meaningfully effect me.
I want to pay for the games i like to support the devs and encourage them to make more. This is like having my ability to vote taken away.

DL.Getchu seem to be removing content that have certain words on their website entirely.
Some of the people who sell on that website even tried changing the names and titiles but that also didnt work.
Also recently specifically from the US and UK had a large meeting at the UK Embassy in Japan about such issue and the brought a stanford study that specifically mentions, DLSite, Pixiv and Fanza for selling some content they consider illegal in there eyes.
Ever Since then many websites have placed restrictions or flatout banned certain content from there websites.

Now on 22/04/2024 anyone who created an account in UK and US specifically will have to change there region in Pixiv settings to Japan or anyother country before they can view the R18 content and will automatically restrict those who create new accounts from these countries. So atleast now we officially know the people behind all of these restrictions recently it seems to stem from UK and US policy makers and also the credit card companies from those countries most other countries are not pressuring them as these two are.

Although there are rumours that Pixiv are going to create there own electronic point system like DL points and DMM points but take that with a grain of salt. I am kinda glad there circumventing these issues because that is the best option or only option at this point

Some creators on DL.Getchu are moving to Fanza to sell there stuff but there goes another website i guess although apart from those suggestive words or pictures you can still sell you R18 cosplay pictures and all but it mainly affect hentai studios and AV studios from selling stuff with those "words". Essentially US and UK viewers are getting banned and restricted from everything as months go by.

At this point i wouldnt be suprised if they are forced to go the route of Amazon JP where international users cant even view or have the option to view any R18 product and they also implemented a very loose /Light IP block to prevent VPN USERS.
