It's defending the indefensible. If the guy's coding is subpar and he's too slow at it, since he's making money off it he really should hire somebody.

I mean, sure the interactive sex scenes require a lot of checks during basically every decision, but a function for each is easy work. Besides that I don't see anything that requires more coding than usual.
His game is very branched. It has a LOT of different description for the events. In any case, who reads the texts? )

It's his game, if he wants to code it by himself he has the right to.

I do, and that's not coding, it's writing. Coding wise multiple selections are easy work.

if (rogue_love > 500) {say "yey, let's fuck"} else {say "nah man"}

Then we agree that he's mismanaging development by insisting to do everything himself?
No. As I've said already, he's developing skills that are useful in a work place, and considering that he already has other skills, I find his devotion to his work commendable.

As a developer/coder, I can only state he is developing his skills badly. Yes, you can learn a basis by yourself as he has done but he is now at the point where you need to collaborate with other experts and have your code reviewed and get constructive feedback. Even sometimes just explaining a problem gives you more clarity for finding an elegant solution. Over the years this has worked many times for me, using my colleagues just to bounce ideas of.

And his stubbornness to do it all by himself is also not a good work-place skill. You must learn your own limitations and not be afraid to ask for help. This is how deadlines are missed: developers who do not ask help but stubbornly try to do it themselves. Ask a question and waste my time for 15 minutes instead of wasting 1-2 days and getting nowhere FFS.

Dude I think you misunderstood me. Obviously asking for feedback and ideas is great while programming, it's a very social job after all. Hiring a coder to do it for you is another story though, and we can't know if he cosulted programming acquaintances while working.

So you're looking at this more from a sentimental viewpoint than a business one.
Yes, because I think that's what he's doing himself, and I belive he has a right to do so.

I don't know, man. Your arguments in this polite discussion seem to be based on things about the dev that you're assuming and/or fabricating. Also while I concede that the author is at liberty to do whatever he wants with his work, that doesn't mean that he isn't dead wrong in his handling of it.

Many coders have commented on how outdated/redundant/whatever else the coding for this game is. By now that is beyond dispute. However, while we can only assume the dev's own reasons for this (which is why I'm not openly complaining about any of them, merely remarking on how stunted the development of this game remains), at least he hasn't done anything obvious to make us think he's just stalling for money, or not hiring anyone to keep all the money, etc.

Guy could probably be just one stubborn bastard, let's hope not because that'll hurt him in the long run.

Hopefully one day they'll add a mind control option that says "stop moaning like a ghost when we're having sex".

This is a game in development, sir or madam... You're gonna hit dead ends here and there.

Touch trait: Originally (0.966c), there was a scene (R_Usher in Rogue_DateNight.RPY) where you could get caught fooling around in the theater. With enough stats and having that trait locked, you could have Rogue give the usher a handjob. With the trait unlocked, you could have her give him a blow job or even fuck him. The code was never implemented and was later removed.

Do you by any chance know how to unlock the scene? I can't find Rogue_DateNight.RPY . I was able to hunt down Version 0.92, 0.94, and 0.966c. I tried console command and it accepts the "R_Usher=True" and "=10000" but I'm not getting the scene. I basically want to splice that into the newer version.

The .977b is laggy to the point I can't enjoy it. Am I the only one who experienced that? what should I do, download it again?

That's partially due to the developer switching to the new version of Ren'py. Some people experience quite some lag, whereas others don't experience it at all. I thought 0.977b was already less laggy than the version before that. The dev is aware of the problem and trying to fix it. It's a bit difficult to do so, since not everyone experiences lag. Anyway, like @dalzomo and @ScottyLQ said, a new/upgraded patato will help!
