As for the next game, my concern is that sci-fi concepts can be quite wide. There can be a lot of creativity involved in aesthetics and mood that can change from person to person. We would not know what to expect, which is not to say it won't be good, but we are not sure.

Whereas the 1940s noir is more narrow, people can conjure in their minds what to expect aesthetically and narratively.

If I had my pick, I think 1940s Noir. I think the girls from that era would look, feel and act a certain way which can be supremely attractive. With a sci-fi setting, he'll probably have a few options as alien women which may or may not be good depending on how well they are designed.

Whatever he does, I pray to God that he focuses on the story and doesn't just twist it to accomodate more and more sex scenes with different characters. Like have a couple of characters and let them be important to the story, but add sex scenes only if the opportunity arises due to the story.

Also, it is my personal opinion after having played so many games, harem takes away from the romance somehow. So I hope the next one is a single LI per play through game. That way I feel like you can truly get attached to a character. Like Rachael from Blade Runner. Still one of my favourite movie love interests. Or Evelyn Cross from Chinatown. In fact I would love it even if there was a character who wasn't an that you have to protect like Ellie from TLOU or the girl from the upcoming game Pragmata.

Anyway, I wrote a bit too much, but I am really interested in seeing what Philly comes up with next.

Okay, I got a bit carried away and needed to add some extra stuff for Shanlon. Her initial scene after writing was to vanilla, so added more hardcore stuff which will be to the anger of my proofreader
I know Shanlon fans will be super happy with this. She actually has a good deal of content here. It kind of makes sense, though,

I have much more to go, but i plan to release in May. It is all lewd and ending animations left, and I am deep into the lewd scenes now. May, it will be the last month I have Patreon active. After that it will be paused. I know I have to do the walkthrough for the last chapters and such, but that is fine.

I also won't be taking active funds from patreon when I am beginning the next game. I am actually debating on two very different idea now. I am reading some old school noir and I really wanna do full blown depraved awakening sequel, but in the 1940's, but another part of me wants to do something in the future like Outland with Sean Connery or the book Blindsight (Read that OMG just don't blame me if you kill yourself after, it can setup an existential crisis). Once i have settled on something and dev progress is happening then yes, we will set patreon to run again. Before that we just go, though!

So, if you guys want to give me your input about what you want; a 1940s detective story, or a more hard sci-fi story let me know. I will admit I do not want to do a poll on this because it is not about who gets more votes, but what I truly wan to do, but your suggestions may change my position.

Guys, I have an idea that I would like to share with you all: I am not sure if Philly has any interest in continue the City of Broken Dreamers game after the final chapter is over, so, I think the COBD community should reunity as a team and ask Philly permission to create some DLCs for the game. I mean, in the fan art thread, for example, there is a lot of good artists that could take care the rendering part and some people could stay together as the writers part.

My idea with these possible DLCs is to tell the not told stories of some COBD girls: Like Victoria, for example, a path telling how she became one of the top Baynard lieutenants. Or Shanlon, how she became a reporter and a hardcore sex addicted person. Or Meredith, when she was younger and how she became the Ice Queen of Baynard.

If you guys have any other ideas for cool DLCs with girls in the game, please share with me.

I don't know, i think most settings can be interesting, personaly i'd prefer it if the next game would have a completely different theme/setting.

I think a good balance is key. Story and characters have to be priority, but a good amount of nsfw scenes is also needed, also brings in more support. But yes, no fuckfest on cost of the story.

I think that is mainly due to how most devs make harem games.

• Slice of life/school setting (often way too boring and without a story)
• MC, if lucky, decent/normal (often some perv/creep/idiot teen MC with barely, if any, redeeming qualities)
• A dozen, often even more, LI's...there is just no way to give them all enough screentime. Mostly one dimensional characters with no character growth and forget anything about a good, lengthy romance with a dozen LI's, not too mention conflict or interaction with other LI's etc

If a dev would focus on a good story & MC, a small cast (maybe 3-4 LI's), a harem game could be way more interesting.
You would have time for good characters, relationship/character development, interactions/conflict between the LI's etc.

I personally think that few mistakes aside, COBD is a great porn game with an actually well-written story that legitimately deserves ALL those raving 4 and 5-star reviews, unlike most of those ugly bastards and creeps on horny, dumb sluts simulators, while most japanese adult VNs and porn games are, to me at least, a complete waste of time and some nonsense written by a bunch of horny teenagers who know jack shit about women IRL. But like I said, tastes and preferences are always the deciding factor when judging the quality of products like this type of games, so that's that.

While I do agree that the idea of having one or two DLCs telling the stories of some popular characters, including male characters like the MC, Henry and the Red Moon, like a lot of big AAA games do, sounds promising and worth considering by Philly, at the end of the day, it's his decision to make, and we'll just have to respect it and wish him the best.

I listened to an interview with a Japanese anime developer recently and he said that a lot of jobs are outsorced from Japan to S. Korea and China. That's one of the reasons why the quailty of anime has fallen dramatically in the recent years. I suppose in the adult industry similar process takes place.

Oh, I'm not disagreeing. COBD is one of the games that manages to tell a great story and juggles the whole harem thing. But I think that is also a bit of it's 'problem' so to speak because it only really tells that one story and you have the girls share the focus around through it. It doesn't really branch out.

Of course it does, and I fully agree with you. AlienEDM even said something about Philly releasing some sort of untold stories DLC about the women's lives prior to meeting the MC and how they became who they are in the present, an idea I support 100%, with the small difference being that I'd also include the big male characters, the MC, Henry, the Red Moon, even that idiot Alexis Connor, there too.

Would be real interested to see how the MC got into the the whole "ghost" mercenary business, how he met Sonja, how and why Henry basically became a guinea pig for the 1st gen augment program (he had a broken spine and couldn't walk or move at all anymore, if I'm not mistaken), how the Red Moon became some sort of android to protect his country, what happened to Japan before the war that completely destroyed it broke out, how and why Vic became an augment and Baynard agent too and so on.

There's a looot of interesting things that one or two big DLCs could elaborate on for us fans to understand why some characters are the way they are and why others did what they did, why dickhead Alexis practically kicked his own daughter out of the house for something that wasn't even her fault, for example.

So far, it's just wishful thinking on our part, but maybe we're lucky enough that Philly hears about this and decides to listen to our request and give us those much-needed DLCs so everybody could benefit from this.

Why do you say that? Just because you play as the MC in COBD main line, that doesn't mean he own all the girls. This is not a harem game. Also, if you don't like a girl in the game wouldn't care for her to be fucked by another guy besides the MC?

Plus, I'm a very open-minded person. I'm a very secure about my heterosexuality and I don't feel offended at all with this kind of sexual content. And... I don't care if a game has female or male MC, I just want a game with a good story, a good plot and a good playthrough.

I understand the game is 100% Philly's property and I don't known if is ok with someone modding his game. That is why I suggested the community should ask him permission first.
