Different characters & their storylines.
To expand on this: Originally it was just one file, but Twine2(?) was starting to break at the seams with all the entries, so Skooma separated the male and female characters' stories into separate files. They even took one or two characters off into DM, the 'super fantasy' start stories.

“Vacay time

Hey guys, today begins my one month vacation from Deviousness. I'll be returning mid-march sometime and resuming the regular schedule, most likely. For now I need to recharge my batteries, rest up, and hopefully come back again strong and reenergized. Thus once I post this message I'll be heading over to the settings to suspend this month's charge.

Current direct plans for the future:

Tomorrow I need to take someone to the airport veeeery early, but then I plan to have a nice luxurious day of going out to eat and binge-watching.

Saturday I plan to assemble my new desk. This will be... a fairly involved process and may last most of the weekend. But at the end of it I'll have a much nicer workspace with, among other things, room for multiple monitors.

At the end of next week I'll be taking my yearly birthday trip to visit friends. (One of my oldest and best friends has their birthday the day after mine, I've always thought that's pretty cool.)

So speaking of my birthday, I don't like to drop this link often because it feels like I'm fishing or trying to hint-hint-nudge-nudge, which I would genuinely hate to do, but just in case you are interested in tossing some birthday love my way or showing some support while the charge is off, I have a . You can pick out something there or suggest something else you might like to gift me. (And again, this is not any sort of dropping hints, this is just something I started because some people said they'd like to be able to give one-time, occasional, or extra support.)

Anyway, I'm hoping to get some other writing work done, but overall just kind of take it easy and let my brain juices recover. I'll still be around for the most part, but as to updates, I'll see you in a while!”

Some more than others; it's entirely fair to say some paths have about five minutes worth of content.
That said, there are many others with a lot more meat on the bones; you just gotta dig around a bit through trial-and-error as the game is massive in terms of branching, and not all of the branches are on the first page or two.

Return of the cat

I'm back!

Well, I've akshully been back from my trip for just over a week, and have already returned to working on the game, just that this is the official end of my vacation. Soooo... yeah, I'm back!

No actual release today, but next week we'll resume regular schedule and the next public release will be on the 29th.

So to catch up on the recent issues with Twine, I have gone ahead and split Eric and Jamie off into their own little sub-branches. They'll match version numbers to the other releases of Devious World when they release, and I'll try to remember to include all the files in every release just in case. They'll have their own version histories so the main file will just read "New [character] stuff."

(I'm tempted to go ahead and split off Cyan and another female character as well purely for the sake of symmetry, but that seems like added work for both me and you to no tangible purpose other than assuaging my desire to keep things even.)

It looks like ultimately the only hope for ever reintegrating the game and getting everyone back under one roof is if I can find a programmer willing to make an updated version of Twine 1 that can handle more massive file sizes. (I think it's open source anyway?) As I currently have no leads on that, we'll just have to continue this way for the foreseeable future.

Anyway, that's where things stand and I'll see you next Friday!

Hey everyone, been awhile since the last public release, what with the separated month for my vacation, but we're back and with a pretty decent release overall I think!

First up in Devious World, we have new stuff for both Jamie and Eric, who have had to be split off into their own files due to limitations with Twine 1. These files will have their own update histories, and from now on all versions of Devious World (male, female, Eric and Jamie) will match up regardless of when they're updated. (I also decided to leave the update breaks in the version history when there's not too many of them, just to save a little work and passage proliferation.)

So yeah, on the World side we've got:
  • Jamie being forced to bond with his bully via isekai.
  • Earring of Infinite Rizz Jamie picking a new outfit at the mall.
  • A new magic item for Jamie on Nile.
  • Palladium City gooped Eric asking the helpful lady to take him to a hotel.
  • Cyan camping on the near side of the stream for the werewolf meeting.
  • Cyan starting a vanilla(ish) playthrough of Skyrim on her VR rig.
Meanwhile over on Mundanity side we've got:
  • A new male villain character, Backlash.
  • A bit of expansion of Michika meeting Cindi Cyko in the Pervcursor sim.
In addition, while they haven't had updates, I've gone ahead and included files for Farmster Girl World, Cult of Layla, and SCPX in the file, since it's been a while since they were included and a lot of the old files got cleaned off for space.

File is or .

(As an aside, in the future I may need to switch to using Mega only. Apparently Google may be joining the adult content crackdown for sharing files, but that's essentially just a rumor I've heard right now. I may also switch to compressing with rar instead of zip for various reasons. I may also just need to explore other options, so stay tuned.)

So I thought I give this one a try once more, picked a character and seriously first decision after picking the character and background greets me with "this blabla does not exist" for every option. Why the heck is this then included if there is literally nothing.
Result it went to trash bin ... maybe I'll give it another try in 2030 or so when there *might* be some sort of content.
I mean seriously how on earth can a game after 6years still have paths (if you wanna call it that) that don't continue after the first choice?

Ridiculous doesn't even cover this mess.

if the path you're playing doesn't have any content play another path. If you'd actually read any page of this thread you'd know that the game has a lot of content, just not in all the paths.

Seems you yourself aren't good at reading. If you are sooo knowledgable please enlighten me why there is a "path" that has literally NO CONTENT. And sorry, but if the first path I pick shows this symptom what do you think I will do? "oh let's try another path maybe it will lead 2 more clicks?
I tried that around a year ago and seems there hasn't been much progress.
Why should I waste my time trying xx number of paths where there *might* be some of the supposedly vast content?
And what of the paths I'm not interested? Do I need to "endure" those just to see *some* content?

So yeah please answer those questions for me. Thank you very much in advance.
Maybe give me a list of paths with content and how much content there is ;)

Calm down bud. The normal thing to do when trying something is to not just delete it and throw a tantrum when you don't get everything you want on the first try.

Why wouldn't you try to play the game if you want to see the content in the game?

No, either play the game yourself or stop whinging.

You are getting it for free, you don't like the game? Play something else.

It's a valid complaint. There's really no reason that, 8 years into development, there should be so many dead links early on. It's like an RPGmaker game having a bunch of empty maps that you have to wander through to find the content, i.e. just awful game design.
It's not a valid complaint if the reason why the game looks like this has been repeated multiple times in this thread. It's also not a valid complaint if you're getting the game for free. It's not a valid complaint because there is a lot of content, just not on every path.
