Why adding someting diasppointing into a game?
I've already played a game, where I had to buy condoms if I dont want to impregnate my girls and its wasn't fun at all.

Adding STD's will be an extra layer of disgusting reality, because alot of them look horrible.

why don't games include STDs?
Because in normal countries STDs are declining and easy to not catch ?

And when it come to realism, there's something missing that is more common that STD that should come in mind, period.

Defending Lydia Collier has STDs. It's not a big part of it but it introduces consequences for some choices. It's a VN, so it's easy to avoid or even miss it.

Anyway, what hagatar said, it's extra work for not much gain. Many people play these games for power fantasies and STDs don't fit there well. I bet it's more common in corruption games, tho, check the ones with a fetish for fugly graphics.

I should really watch out more with my assumptions about what men over 40 have on their mind. :p :censored:

I have enough young girls on my mind to not have erectile dysfunction, my dear.

because games are meant to replicate porn, which also doesnt have std's due to heavy testing and precautions. And its actually not that realistic because everyone know you always should get tested before any sexual activities and after

from a gameplay perspective if it's coherent with the setting, like "peasant quest" for example, medieval fantasy on rpg maker engine, where everything fucks everything, it would make sense to have stds, and it's relatively easy to implement, it's just a switch (the sickness exist in the game and you have it or not).

the thing is, what does it add as gameplay value for the player ? if you punish the player for having sex in a porn game, you have to make it a fun way to deal with, with manageable consequences (implying it not to be a game-over condition)

maybe it IS the purpose of the game and you have to spread it ? could be a fun idea to play around with as well.

Like always in porn it's just a matter of fetish, you can't force it on peoples that don't wan't it (like adding it midway through developpement, such as forcing out of nowhere a ntr scene in a romance dating sim) and if the game has it, it must be stated by the developper from the start as his intention on the planned fetishes.

Make me wish for a w40k parody game about a plague bearer of Nurgle... :x

You get STDs from sexual partners generally, and a lot of games don't want to risk getting labeled as NTR. So often the implication is that you're their first or they've only ever loved a dildo or gone knuckle deep themselves, or if they're a milf/your "landlady" they were loyal to their husband and you're sexual partner #2. And if they do have more exes they generally don't get mentioned, or only how they treated her poorly.
Yes it would be more realistic to include STDs since some of the MCs in these games barely have a personality and the girl still hops on that dick in minutes, she's bound to be a super spreader if she's that easy right? It would also be realistic if Jack Bauer had to take breaks from hunting terrorists to take a shit, but they wisely don't bother showing us that, because not all realism is value added.

I assume just because its not a popular subject. For most people, I don't think catching some sort of difficult to cure disabling disease is too fun of a concept.

I just laughed hard at this line.

I've been playing with the idea of adding your usual early sex slut character, but if you fuck her you get an std rotting your dick off. but I can't really figure out an upside to it so probably won't do it.

for every useful aspect of std pregnancy just works far better.

the thing is, what does it add as gameplay value for the player ?
For a brothel/whatever manager it can worth it, adding a bit to the management part.
You would have to plan health check, deal with unavailable girls, and it would be an incentive to make your brothel/whatever evolve in order to have better (cleaner) customer base. It can even come as a dilemma, low rank brothel that get a have a lot of customers and make lot of cash for a low cost, but you've to deal with a lot of STD, or high rank one, that have less customers, and make less due to the higher costs, but is STD free.

But I agree that in any other context it's nothing more than punishing the player because he played as intended (he made the MC have a lot of sex).
