If the thread was singing the praises of the small dick update and calling for the limp dick update I would know that I am wrong, but it turns out I'm not. A shared feeling of disappointment leads to a sexual validation I cannot describe in polite company.
Also quite a few people on here make their own games so a log of what people don't like about a project could be very helpful in the future. We aren't banging on the couch of the Ostrich's discord, taking big stinky word dumps on his blog or writing our own erotic fiction in his wiki. I think we are good.
Unrelated to that I wonder why the PC can't start the game with a teeny weeny and have his mind blown post transformation when he finds out what dick version of Sasquatch is like.

Okay, first of all, he is not providing anything for free. He is making quite a bit of money to create this content. I did not, however, bring that up because I don't think it's relevant to the point I was making. Since you brought it up, however, let us address that. Using your logic, it would be inappropriate for me to criticize the latest episode of some television show with my friends, because the creators of that show are providing it to me for free. This is of course nonsense. I'm not paying for it directly, but they are indeed getting paid. Before anyone calls me out for this metaphor because I have to watch commercials during a show on a broadcast network, I dvr pretty much everything and fast forward through the commercials which creates a minor inconvenience. The non-patreon version of NewLife doesn't contain the cheats and such, and any content is a full release behind, so there's a minor inconvenience there. No, it's not a perfect metaphor, but it works.
I think it's entirely valid for someone to say, "man I really like Walking Dead, but the last few episodes have been complete crap!" Or even to say, "I used to watch Walking Dead, but it got so lame I gave up." Reasonable people can disagree about these sorts of things, and someone else in the group can speak up and say, "I wouldn't say the last few episodes have been crap, because these reasons." Whatever, you get my point. Talking about this is natural behavior among fans of something.
I'm fairly certain I have never said, nor even implied, that I do not like the game. I like it quite a bit. I want it to continue to grow and to improve. I do, however, think the last several releases ranged in quality from disappointing to utter garbage. I see this thread as being the proverbial water cooler, and we're all standing around chatting about the game. If you think an update that consists of small dicks (with a focus on being disappointed by them), the skip sex option, and a handful of bug fixes to be perfectly great, then good for you. Feel free to tell me all about what's neat about it. I'm open to be persuaded.

I like the fact that the SMALL_DICK trait was added to the game. Makes the game more interesting that you don't always get what you expect from the male NPC's. Having everyone with THICK_COCK trait seems to make less special to me.
I have seen this type of comment on far too many games in far too many places, and I was rather bored, so forgive me for the rather sizable reply, but I felt like finally getting these thoughts off my chest, so to speak.
Ignoring the fact that there is a truly massive difference between television and an independent porn game, where do you live that you get free cable? The only "free" television available anymore are an extremely limited number of broadcast stations of dubious quality, and you still have to pay for the receiver and watch commercials; you're still actually paying for it in two different ways. So yes, you should complain about problems you have with television, you are paying for a service with both money and time wasted on commercials, and expect an adequate delivery. If it failed to meet your expectations and you thought it was no longer worth the price, you would likely stop paying for it and do something else with your time. However, newlife is available for free, some cheat codes in the patreon version don't really count as the game was not intended to be played with them, they're a perk for supporters. It is like complaining that people who pre-purchased Farcry 5 got an exclusive gun skin, and you, the person who pirated the game, did not. You stated the... inconvenience of having the free version is equivilent to commercials. Which is blatantly false, networks and thus studios receive money for commercials, the creator receives no money from you being annoyed at not having cheats in the free version.
While you say that the updates recently have dropped in quality, I'm going to make an assumption that you truly meant quantity and size, forgive me if I am mistaken in this. If your complaint was rather that the actual quality of the work itself had dropped I could more easily understand your ire, watching something we liked and enjoyed become something we do not is always painful. Whereas with newlife your complaint seems to be updates are too small and slow, rather than a loss of quality. Do you support him on patreon? Because if so, then yes, you should have some expectation that his work matches what you feel you are entitled to from your contribution. If you do not think that it is meeting that expectation, then yes, you should complain to the provider; and if the concern is not addressed in what you feel is a timely and appropriate manner, you should stop paying.
However, this does not seem to be the case, as the impression I have received from you is that you do not support his patreon. Forgive me if I have misread, but your argument seems to intimate that because other people are paying him through his patreon, his is obligated to satisfy your expectations. This is baffling to me, or do you believe that you are complaining on the patron's behalf? If these other people are not satisfied with the pace of content, then they are free at any time to cease their support of the project if their concerns are not addressed in a manner they find appropriate. Your input on an unrelated board dedicated to, let us be frank here, sharing games for free does nothing to help them or bring these concerns before the creator in question.
As for my own opinion, I am satisfied with the current quality of content being provided. I was actually wishing for something along the lines of small dicks and/or bad in bed to give the main character a reasonable excuse to break up with a partner, or perhaps even cheat if they're not very nice or get very drunk. The option to skip tedious sex scenes that I have gone through dozens of times and that must be repeated over and over to raise relationship was also most welcome. Do I wish it was being provided more quickly? Of course, everybody wants something they like as fast as possible, rare is the person who enjoys waiting more then briefly, and I like the game and want to see more. However, I am sick to death of comments and posts railing against creators for not updating as quickly as people assume they should be. The creator of entertainment provided for free has no obligation to the people receiving it for free and it is unspeakably tedious to sift through threads and posts parroting the same entitled opinions over and over and over.
So a question I have for you is, for what reason do you feel entitled to a certain pace of content and updates? Is it simply that you like the game so much that you are too impatient to stand the pace the creator has kept? And if so, is that really something you can fault the creator for? Another question I have for you, is have you or anyone else with the same concerns ever even tried to talk to the creator in a calm polite manner about this? If you feel so strongly about it, perhaps you should politely intimate as much through a medium the creator of the content in question will actually see, and can engage with you in a discourse. It would be a more productive use of time than a circle of eternally rephrasing the same complaints every update here, and at least you would have a valid reason to complain if they blew you off rudely.

I sort of hoped it would be referenced more when you cheat or something. I'm no game designer or programmer. But I get the feeling that maybe it's reaching the point when adding new stuff that would hopefully affect lots of interactions in the game, is kind of becoming more and more difficult, and that's why we're getting more specific scenes that you have to actively try and experience. I disagree. I am voicing what I think are valid criticisms in a thread that is, allegedly, dedicated to discussion about this game. I don't think that SO owes me a damn thing, but I feel perfectly comfortable stating my opinion on the updates. Your entire argument seems to boil down to, "like it or shut up." There is nothing wrong with it, in fact, I like the addition of small dicks too. The problem was this update was that it was added as a MAIN feature along with the ability to skip sex scenes in this update. Something like is just a tiny addition to the game as a whole. It's gone from long chains of events, whole new sex scenes and positons to where a single trait is now the main featur of a monthly update... That's why at least I criticize SO for this and similar awful updates. Because this update was in no way acceptable in my book!
I was a supporter of this game, at the 10$ patreon (I guess the total sum I sponsored the development of this game is should be around 400+$ or so, which can buy me a lot of AAA+ games.) level for way over 3 years, almost from the start really, when he had just set up the patron page and the game made like 2-300$ month. The game had huge potential, I fell in love with it instantly and while the game was a bit rough, it has tons of content even back then. In fact most of the content was already in place back then, 3 activities per week, dance/work, clubbing/dating and the gym and dance contest on the weekends was also in the game. I'm not a 100% sure of the last part about weekend stuff though, but I think it was in the game very early, even if it wasn't as fleshed out as it is now. Not to mention the fact that this (and to some degree still is) was the only game of it's kind in the genre. The updates were coming fast, had lots of content and SO was very inspired and listened to booth critique and suggestions, not only on patreon but on his blog as well.
Then the updates started to decline in quality, went from twice a month to once, later on those monthly updates had less content compared to when it was released every two weeks. I (and quite a lot of others) criticized those poor updates on the patreon page of course, the blog got heavily moderated at some point due to "harsh critique" or some such, but nothing changed for the better and it drives a wedge between your fans/supporters when you as a creator dismiss honest critique as trolls and haters. This decline went on for quite some time until one monthly update was so god damn awful that I finally had enough. It was the culmination of something like 4-5 months with equally poor updates, which added absolutely nothing worthwhile to the game other than minor QoL changes and some perhaps a one-shot per game scene if we were lucky. And if he did add such scenes, it was always tied to a particular trait and the scene in turn also needed the man to have the specific traits to fire, making you have to play in a very specific way, which might not fit the kind of character you wanted to play.
I'm fairly certain there are quite a few people with similar storys in this thread, who are also ex-patreons of Newlife, and similarly got fed up with the increasingly poor additions to the game and the increasing lack of passion SO showed for the awsome game he created. If I put on a tinfolil hat, the decline began once the money started to roll in. 6-7k$ for just some random minor trait is some damn good monthly wage imo.
I love this game, and I hope it will get better and better... Do you think there will be a way to implement incest?

Nah, there will only be vanilla content, hell it took years just to get anal in the game and while there are a few random scenes that flirts with heavier kinks, I don't think it will go beyond that.
I think there is a list of stuff that SO said will never be in the game, posted years ago somewhere on the blog if I remember correctly.
I was a supporter for games like these, and most cases, they just churn through patrons. Especially when patrons gets burned by being censored anywhere off of patreon. Had most of my comments removed from his blog. Those that stick around tend to hope for change rather than be pissed off and cease support like someone mentioned above. People tend to see an investment as a reason to stick around rather than to cut their losses. Those a part of the new life community seem to want to take charge and work on it even if SO wants to take his time.
Its pretty funny to see dormant accounts that have never posted before suddenly jump in to vocally defend an obvious grifter tooth and nail. Just sayin'
Alright, so given the fact that you are new to this creator, I guess you can be forgiven for being so humble and naive. I was around since the conception and you have no idea how being humble gets you nowhere with this person. Asking the creator whether there was an issue with the update, the lack of communication, the drop in quality, or the lack of content results in backlash regardless of how nicely you ask. Have you ever been told by a creator that his passion for this game prevents him from working a higher paying job that we should be grateful that he does? That how much he makes on patreon justifies the lack of effort placed into a game people are paying for? Is it entirely justified that the creator simply ignores people who questions the future of the game? Is it entirely justified to say that the game is already complete and that we're simply paying for extra despite the fact that this was said years ago when you were limited to 52 weeks, and with a very bare bones gameplay. Hell, this game is worse than TiTS or CoC in content and quality. But sure, we can try and talk with the creator. Has that ever worked for creators on patreon? No, very rarely if its not a reputable public creator.
It's totally free. But the fact is that the game is too limited, way too rng, with annoying events being too common, which drives a certain demand for cheats in the game to get around the clearly poorly designed game.
