The first game is translated. That's the only other thing. All the animations from the first game are in this version (this version also has new animations as well, also a 4th character with their own animations as well).
I suppose so, but since I care more about the gameplay and animations, I think I'll just give it a shot. I'm just wondering since there's a sale on DLsite, and I was not sure if I should buy the original game or not. I also saw on the author's twitter that he may be making a third game if I'm understanding the post's correctly, so I was thinking that if the new games usually inherit all the animations and assets from the previous game, then maybe I should just wait for the third game instead, but I'm not sure when he will release it though since he seems to be more focused on the goblin walker sequel.

From the looks of it, the third game will feature a different cast of playable characters, so it may not end up having the second game's animations (unless those characters return as playable again).

using DeepL and my very limited knowledge of Japanese it seems that it's not the game engine being complex that's the problem, it's him being uncomfortable with sharing the inner workings / source code of the engine because he says it's needed in order to be able to translate the game. He's currently looking for a translator who's willing to work with him like this:He'll send the text files over to a translator and then the translator sends the localized text back to him and he'll add it to the game. Kinda wonky but people have done this before in the past and it's worked reasonably well.
People are actually willing to translate his game, he said in one of the articles that he's gotten offers from various people on ci-en and twitter and other places but right now he's trying to decide if he'll go with a publisher, AI translation or going solo with the help of English volunteers. He said he initially wanted to use DLsite's translation services but DLsite has temporarily taken down the service for some reason. The decision on how to localize the game is taking a while because of real life stuff he's sorting through right now.

Hopefully he will find a solution soon. If he ends up not getting the game translated and still refuses to share the code so we can't even get a fan-translation, that would be such a shitty thing to do.
What even is it? It it not included in the updated version?
It's all pictures and gif files. Some animations from this game and his other games, a manual with info about the characters(in Japanese), some pictures from the other games etc.
Oh, his ci-en rewards. I though he put out a bunch of extra scenes or something.
Hoping he's found an translator willing to work with his odd requirement so we can get an official TL at some point.

So if a translation is of the table - is there atleast a quest guide? I mean - i can figure out battles and stats by just pressing things, but quests might get complicated, considering in the first game there was backtracking and bringing certain items to certain npc's. If someone has one, or cares enough to make one - would be the second bes thing to a translation.
