For me, it's a game that asks you to grind hard or just have sex without stepping up. - Games that require grinding between progression events. Spending hours IRL doing repeat actions, 90% of the time holding the SKIP button to skim through fast. SMH so many games have this - or worse - unskippable, complicated, multi-action grinding events that are identical every time.
- That shirt. You know the one. That grey shirt with black and sometimes orange graphic on it that exists in 70% of all games on this site... FFS - at minimum, try a texture edit, please.
- Cloned love interests. I'm all for twins, triplets even, but when EVERY female has the same chin, nose, eye shape, and body type? It's a thing... Not for me.
- Lack of diversity. I know many devs and players may be of lighter skin tone, perhaps fetishize watermelon breasts and beach ball behinds on women, but seriously... Mix up the physiques and ethnicities, please.
- Short hair! Ugh... I know it's a bitch to deal with any hair that drapes below the chin, but I'd love to see someone who takes the time to render and animate characters with long hair. It's a classic look and very common in more than half the world: a long braid, locks of hair to her elbows, but not necessarily anime-style.
- No pubes. Adult women, natural women have hair. Please give them some. I know many women shave, wax, or laser it off... But - as Cameron Diaz said, "I know you may think you'll be wearing the same style of shoes forever and the same style of jeans forever, but you won't. The idea that vaginas are preferable in a hairless state is a pretty recent phenomenon, and all fads change, people."

RPGM games where the world is huge and you have to do the same task every time you want to progress the game.
Railroading with psuedo choices, like the path is already set but you're given some choice thats essentially meaningless or the choice is between a 90% bad choice and a 12% good choice.
"avoidable" tags where you basically just skip content or it happens anyway but offscreen, like in lunars chosen you chose no futa, so no scene at all, let alone a sex scene vs in defending lydia collier if you don't want to piss on a girl you still get an interaction and/or scene with her.
On that note devs not being upfront and honest about what they want their game to be about or how the content will be focused/balanced.
Niche genres trying to branch out into diametrically opposed audiences. Authors trying to please everyone and ending up creating a shit storm. Dont bs me and tell me about "completely avoidable" and have more/higher quality scenes be those scenes.

There is no combat, your map is a straight line or a overly convoluted mess of alleys for me to walk several minutes to engage in a conversation and I'd rather just click an icon to bring me to the next location if you want to have a sandbox and also have all the great aspects of renpy.
I got to agree on the horse dick thing, it's too big if your characters faces are going to look silly with it in their mouth and they have unhinged jaws

I'm mainly tired of the same scenarios popping up everytime. Whenever they start with "let me help you with your yoga pose" I just roll my eyes and get ready to hit spacebar really fast. Low effort "fashion shows" at department stroes are also getting pretty old as well. If they put in some effort to spice them up they can still be good but most of the times it's here are three outfits pick one... I may or may not wear it lol. It would also be nice to have a good story that doesn't involve some ridiculous plot point that would never happen in real life. Like University is hard enough... do we really need some secret organization who wants to ruin your life on top of that? Fantasy stories are fun don't get me wrong but I think more stories set in the "Real World" should be more realistic.

This is more of a meta point, but my pet peeve is tags for something which is either entirely absent or comprises at most a single scene in the game.
Rape is by far the worst offender here. Something like half of the games on the site have the tag, most of which as far as I can tell don't even have rough sex much less nonconsent. Some moron sees that there's a sleep sex scene and decides that, despite the fact that it has its own tag already, we need an extra super duper warning. Having sex with someone while they're drugged or asleep is legally and morally a form of rape, yes, but we can figure that shit out by looking at the sleep sex tag.
One step above that is the game with exactly one optional rape scene four hours into the game. At least there the tag will help people who don't like the fetish skip the game, even if it's a nuisance to people actually looking for it.

I started reading / "playing" VNs maybe two months ago, so I am an absolute newbie still... I checked out several (highly rated) VNs in the meantime and even though I am still relatively new to the genre there are several things already I grow very tired of.
- forced content that is not avoidable like certain kinks, sharing, group sex, lesbian scenes between LIs
- exaggerated body types and this curious fixation on ginormous breasts in so many VNs
- the super busty, wide hipped milf / mother / "landlady"
- turning female characters, even those that start off innocent (more or less), into bi-curious sluts who just love to share the MC with other people or even encourage the MC to pursue other people... yes, yes it's all a (power) fantasy, I know... but it's still stupid (most of the time)
- lack of solo routes or punishing those that choose solo routes by not offering enough content for any particular LI since the focus of the VN is to chase as many women as possible as if they were Pokemon
- perving on people at night and doing things to them... like, seriously? Why? Why is that a thing in so many VNs?

For me, Easily the "Slow Burn" game is 9/10 these games are less slow burn more glacial speed especially when the updates aren't worth shit and are like 30 minutes because the developer wants to tell this deep story but most of time it's a very insanely mediocre story with nothing interesting going on and even when you finally get a sex scene it is the most unrewarding thing you will see no dirty talk or no kinkiness just a simple wham bam thank you mam sex scene.
I don't hate the slow burns game one of my favorite games Light of My life does the slow burn the right way the slow burn is between the MC and the Main heroines the side characters are used to give sex scene's in the meanwhile which works out really well.

I filter out incest (including pseudo-incest) when I search for games. It robs stories of having proper family relationships, and makes the characters just run-of-the-mill LIs - there's nothing to distinguish them any more other than calling each other different names and living in the same house (why are adults still living with their parents anyway?).
Where are the stories where you can have a mother as a mother or a sister as a sister? Where are the relationships where you can interact with a family member without ending up with a handjob? Some games have a father figure which creates problems like a married couple not acting as such because somehow MC's parents having a relationship with each other is NTR, and so the father needs to be dead or asexual.
