Completely disagree.
I believe Protagonist wants to pass the image of being mysterious which the masks and the hat are a huge part of it, despite the fact he is anything but to the people closest to him. Gunslinger taking the mask is him finally admitting to let himself being vulnerable in front of those people.
So it is a necessary moment for the progression of the story.

Okay AVN devs, it's fine if you want to show the mc's face, but do so out of the gate. Then the player will get used to it. Because the whole reason mc faces are hidden is because it can be a turnoff in sex scenes for some players, due to the disassociation between the player and the character having sex. The worst possible thing you can do is only reveal the mc's face during sex scenes. Which is what happens in Projekt Passion. I actually just played Follow The Leader which makes exactly the same mistake.
